John Terry is fine - Mourinho

Sunday, 25 February 07, 06:06 PM · Comments (19)

Jose Mourinho has told Radio Five Live that John Terry is "fine" following his sickening head injury in this afternoon's League Cup final against Arsenal.

He quickly recovered consciousness and was released from hospital to take part in the celebrations with the rest of the team. Apparently he even attended the post-match press conference.

More reaction later...

Thank You Chelsea Blog for the update. I was getting restless to know what the condition of JT is...
Thank you again and God Bless!

Excellent news. Oddly, that injury sums JT up perfectly - 99% of players wouldn't have had their head there in the first place.

Average performance, which makes it even sweeter - poor old Sky, desperate for their Arsenal babies fairy story; sometimes you really don't win anything with kids.

Any chance he'll be back for Portsmouth? ;)

JT is actually invincible. When I first saw that boot connect, my genuine thought was 'Oh fuck, he's dead.'

It's maybe a stretch to say 'all's well that ends well', but I can see the repercussions from this match lasting at least a week or two in the press.

What didI call him in my last review?

Captain Bloody Marvellous...when marvellous is simply not enough.

JD - your view on the bastards at Sky matches mine. All the pre-build up was Arsenal baby focussed, Andy Gray was sickeningly pro-Arsenal (gorgeous football, quality passing) and hideously against us (brute force, machine mentality) and the post match bollocks from the increasingly vile Fuckwit Keys was all around how Arsenal would learn from this and be stronger, and how great their football was. Not a fucking good word about us in effect. I'm already a Sky hater because of the bully boy tactics they're using against Virgin (I hope Branson kicks Murdoch's wizened little arse back to Oz) but today was bias in the extreme, the likes of even Motty couldn't have matched. Of course this is all a cue for the kicking we'll get in the Murdoch Press tomorrow for being the party poopers and ...errrrr...actually winning the trophy which is kind of the point isn't it? I can hear the knives sharpening now, after all this was a game in which the old maxim

"Damned if we do, damned if we don't" could never have been truer.

Virtually every Arsenal fan calling 606 is stating that it has been a 'moral victory'. Fair enough - not sure what the trophy looks like for one of those.

I thought their passing was excellent, I have to say - the one that conceded possession and led to the winner was out of this world ;-)

Seriously though TG - how embarrassing were Sky? The worst I've ever heard them, without question.

hahaha...'moral victory'....nice ...thats a looser statement.....i hope every other team settles for 'moral victory' against us ..while we have all 4 trophies in our cabinet ..... tht will be sweet victory for us with all silverwares....

JD

I just finished watching it again on my shiny new V+ box and it was totally embarassing. I swear I've always liked Andy Gray for his sheer enthusiasm alone, but today he was shocking...where an Arsenal player was unlucky to get booked, ours were lucky NOT to have been booked, our equaliser was blatantly off-side apparently, although replays suggest Toure and Drogba were level....advantage attacker then. I've set the box to record the ITV highlights tonight to see if they're any less biased. Whatever way you look at it though we were on a hiding to nothing. No plaudits or credit for taking the competition seriously unlike our Friends in The North. What also sickened me with Keys, in his vomit inducing sycophancy to McCallister and Redknapp, was how he focussed on the fight near the end. As SuperFrank, Redknapp and McCallister all noted it was the emotion and passion boiling over, and was indicative of how seriously both teams wanted to win. No mention either of both sets of fans and management clapping JT as he went off. Coz that's a nice story for them and therefore not news really. Not good enough for SmugFace Keys though, no he wanted more and more comment on how disgraceful it was, leading to his and Sky's inevitable conclusion that big bad bullies of Chelsea had goaded the fresh faced innocents of Arsenal. Never before have I so wanted TV to be holographic so I could smack his smug, arrogant face in. A great day ruined by a biased and increasingly arrogant organisation. Lets hope Virgin or Setanta steal the rights away next time and help Sky get some bloody perspective.

That was kind of Chelsea style game. The opposition was pressing and we were scoring. That is the first one in our cabinet this season and we are going to have MORE this season!!! Come on Blues!!! I am personally happy for Terry!!!!

I totally agree. From the moment Arse* Whinger announced that they gonna play with the babies all the bloody media had been talking on and on and on were how great their young players are and they kept praising Arse* Whinger for trusting the babies. F*ck off!!!!!! I'm sick of it. All the media had been focusing on that. I knew that no matter what happen people are not gonna praise us. We are never gonna get any credit that we deserved. It was a great performance by us. Trailing and that come back. The performance by Ricky Carvalho especially after JT injured coz that Diaby mistaken his face with a ball, masterful performance by ever reliable Esien and two great goals by the player of the season were not mentioned at all by those so called 'experts' on TV. I didn't watch this game on SKY but even the commentaters on this f*cking channel were blind and kept praising A*senal the whole time. I won't be surprised if they are actually the gooners bloody fans! Go Chelsea Go!! You are the best!!! JT, YOU ARE THE BEST CAPTAIN IN THE WORLD! YOUR BRAVERY FOR THE TEAM WAS LITERALLY SHOWN TONIGHT. WE LOVE YOU!!!!

good to note that Terry is back and well. Only Terry can take that kind of blow and survive.....and i learnt the baby diaby was in tears afterwards.

it was only a matter of time for A*senal to tire out in the second half and i must credit Mourhino for the tactics. Allow them hold and pass the ball in the first half while we contained them and second half bring on a pacy winger to finish them.

The propanganda by the media on so-called babies will not help A*senal cos its medal and trophies that count. Sooner or later they will not be contented with sitting on the bench cos they believe they are matured.

even with all the injuries, we shall still have a fulfilling season to come and hopefully, we can still win the premiership(any takers!)

JT...legend!!! Back partying by 6PM. Fuck the biased, sneering anti-Chelsea media. They just don't get it do they. The old order is smashed, irreparably, and for good. Credit to Man Utd and esp Ferguson for this seasons heroics in Premiership. But its a last gasp from the dead corpse. Chelsea have the future sewn up. Our young players like Diarra and Mikel, and Robben for that matter, are being brought up properly. They play effectively in a grown up team. Wenger insulted the competition and the public by playing his kids. And I suspect it was because he needed the get out. The excuse for losing yet another game to Mourhino. Chelsea honour the tournament with their first team. Play the game seriously. Demonstrate the beauty of disciplined, effective football with some utterly sublime final passes and finishing (Ballack's chip over for the first, Robben's cross for the second...Drogs killer goals exceptional as per usual) in contrast to the headless chicken running around of the opposition, which lacked guile and finish...young Walcott's single moment apart. And we get bad mouthed. I think we need to wait around five years before a generation of broadcasters has grown up with the new dispensation before we get even reporting. Until then, we just have to accept that it is a sign that at least we must be hurting them badly. Now that's a positive.

I thought that after the first 20minutes,it was a truely great Chelsea performance.
Arsenal's kids played very well, but I wonder how many of them will end up getting a regular run in the first team over the next 3 years. In truth, I think the Arsenal youngsters are very much the sameastheir 1st team.....Excellent in attack, very fluid with their passing, but pretty hopeless in defence. People forget that Almunia, Toure and Senderos are allplayers that haven't really been able to cut it in the first team.

Great to see Terry up and about....If we are to clean up this year, he is going to be vital.

And finally, another great performance from Didier Drogba...... I really hope he beats Ronaldo for player of the year, but I fear that unless we overtake Utd, he will probably miss out.

It's a bit shame that final ends like that.. I try to understand that there's a massive pressure on these young boys form ARSEnal but do they really need fight to proove that they are better? My point is, if really Arsene was looking for that title he should play with his regular 11.. Maybe it's the difference in mentality between Jose and frenchguy that makes us a winners and not them for a while? Seriously, in last two years we are the club with the trophies, we are winners, they are forgotten moral winners.. Even if they played with young boys, even if they really played well, so what? They're still behind. And strangely (but it's not worrying me at all) we are still the 'bad guys'. Well, yes, i know, we should let them win, so Andy Gray could have an orgazm in the studio..
And about JT.. Well after that hit, probably somebody would put some flowers on me, lying 6 feet into the ground.. He's more than a MAN, more than any words can be said about.. Is it a plane? Is it a UFO? No, it'sJohn Terry, in his blue shirt!!

Dear all,
just wanted to bring one thing to every1's notice...for a long time we hav been mentioning bout the heroics of Chelsea players in particualr JT but we failed to highlight 1 particular individual who truly deserves our plaudits, i.e. PETR CECH. He truly is the wall n showed y we are no. two in the Premiership. If he hadn't been injured for so long there is no chance in hell tht ManU cud hav overtaken us. Some of his saves were simply mindboggling!

Chelsea r jus amazing....fuck wht every1 else says!!

I though it was a very easy game, It seems the game followed JM's plan and the kids were eating in his hands all game round. The defense was able to stop their so called fast-passing game, and the middle and last tier were their usual boring but lethal.

Andy G... you've been black-listed as a biased commentator AFAIC.

And Wenger, next time you'll better off not giving your team sheet a week early.

Jose must have had so much fun this week.
