Newcastle poised to sign Parker

One of our best young English players is to hold talks with Newcastle United on Tuesday in the hope of sealing a £6.5m move, according to BBC Sport.

Scott Parker has apparently travelled to Tyneside to meet Newcastle officials after they agreed terms with Chelsea and are understood to be prepared to match his reported £55,000-a-week wage packet at Stamford Bridge.

Claude Makelele's continued dominance and commanding form in midfield is severely limiting Parker's first team chances at the Bridge, but Jose Mourinho has expressed a desire to keep Parker if the player is willing to show patience.

However, if the reports are to be believed it appears that Parker is unwilling to wait.

A shame.
