As any self-respecting Blues fan will know, we'll be crowned Champions of England for only the second time in 100 years, 50 years after our last top flight title if Arsenal fail to beat Spurs at Highbury later tonight.
But I, like Jose Mourinho - and probably the vast majority of Blues fans - would rather the team not be crowned Premiership Champions as a result of the outcome of a game between two of our most bitter rivals - and two days before a massive Champions League game against Liverpool.
It may seem arrogant or selfish or both, but it would be a lot more satisfactory to win the title on the pitch, as a result of winning a match - even if that pitch has to be Bolton's on Saturday.
But we can't pick and choose such things.
Apparantly 1955 was an exceptional year for Champagne - it was certainly an exceptional year for Chelsea Football Club... but whatever your vintage, you had better put it on ice; you might just need it in a little over 3 hours to celebrate another exceptional year.

Arsenal recorded a narrow 1-0 win over Spurs this evening, ensuring that we'll have to wait until the weekend for a chance to clinch the title at Bolton.

Mine is cooling as I type – but hopefully – and more than likely – I won’t be popping the cork! Airline FC should beat Spuds at home and give us Blues fans the prospect of celebrating on Saturday at Bolton, although that’s likely to be a tough game.
I might just pop the cork when we beat Liverpool 3-0 on Wednesday night! ;-)
