Premiership: Drogba scores hat-trick

Sunday, 12 November 06, 12:01 AM · Comments (9)

Didier Drogba scored his second hat-trick of the season as Chelsea swept aside Watford 4-0 at Stamford Bridge to rejoin Manchester United at the top of the Premiership.

Drogba opened the scoring on 27 minutes when he stabbed home from six yards after Andriy Shevchenko miskicked Geremi's cross.

A good one-two with Shevchenko seven minutes later allowed the Ivorian to slide home his second from an acute angle on the edge of the six-yard box.

Shevchenko celebrated the birth of his second son with a goal of his own, his fifth of the season, on 51 minutes. Drogba turned provider, controlling Carlo Cudicini's goalkick before chipping a clever pass for the Ukranian to chest the ball round Ben Foster and tap into an empty net.

Drogba capped a superb individual performance by completing his hat-trick in the 69th minute. Geremi provided another perfect cross for the Ivorian to steal in unmarked and fire the ball past Foster. Drogba's tally now stands at 14 for the season.

Watford never really troubled Cudicini's goal.

The win made it 50 League games without defeat at the Bridge.

If Drogba can go on like this , i am very sure he can score more than 30 goals this seasons in all competition. Good game so far. I wish we can trash West ham like this coming week before we go to old traford. Up blues!!!

If this form continues..... it would be great to watch man u get thrashed in their own home ground.... umm lets say..... 5-0...Cant wait for 26th nov..... must be treat to watch....

What about third hatick for Didier on that day, guys??

Essien has been worth every penny this season. Last season too he wasnt that bad, but this season he is looking to set standards for every other players in the world.. Great going essien...Ballack and Sheva are getting used to the premiership and lampard is getting closer to his best... Our back four have always been good... The only weak link looks between the posts with cech injured..n carlo n hilario little short of match practice... but they are professionals n they have been showing their class in the matches they have played... so no worries....A tru world champion team in making.... Jose the great

No doubt the press taking - or making - a quote out of context.

Do you honestly believe the club is going to let Shevchenko leave in January? A £30m signing? Cobblers.

Hmmm...did the celebration yesterday really look like that of an unhappy man?

Yeah i doubt he would, the story is now on sky sports too. That guy claims Sheva told him that. Im not saying our club will let him leave, just saying this guy rekons he wants to.

That comment is out of context. Sheva meant that if he could play for AC again in the future, he would. It's been said before that he's perfectly happy in London, and I still have no doubt that he is a valuable asset to us.

I feel the same for Ballack, though his tendency to get booked almost every game is a little concerning.

Two 4-0s in a row at home, and next we've got West Ham. Bring on United.
