September 2nd, 1905

One-hundred years ago today Chelsea Football Club played their first ever game away to Stockport County in the old Division Two -- a game they eventually lost 1-0 in front of a (then) record 7000 crowd. The goal was scored by Bob Manson from a rebound after Chelsea’s goalkeeper and captain Willie 'Fatty (he weighed 22 stone)' Foulke had saved his penalty kick.

Chelsea went on to suffer just six more defeats during the 1905/06 Division Two season, eventually finishing third behind Bristol City and Manchester United respectively.

We have no history, we're celebrating our centenary!
