Arsenal have applied to trademark the word 'Gooner'

Wednesday, 29 August 07, 05:05 PM · arses (66)

See here for details of the application.

It's one thing trademarking the name and crest of the club, I think everybody understands that, but to trademark a word which was created by Arsenal fans is going a bit too far, isn't it?

It seems to just cover merchandise, for the moment, but would it be any surprise if it was taken further in the future?

As per Tony's comment if you wish to object to this application the address to write to is:

IP Officer, Trade Mark Dept, Concept House, Cardiff Rd., Newport, NP10 8QQ
