Auf Wiedersehen, Jens

Read it and weep. How sad that Jens's Arsenal career will now be remembered for the car crash way it's ending than anything else.

Unbeaten in his first season and magnificent the season we got to the Champions League final he's now clearly lost his mind with the following comments.

It's possible that some day I'll feel like talking about the whole issue but  at the moment I'm just swallowing it all as part of the humiliation. That's something one has to take in. But I think -- and this is aimed at my dear manager -- one shouldn't humiliate players for too long. I'm an Arsenal player and I won't just fade away quietly.

Wenger spoke of three world class goalkeepers. One of them must be me. The other two have proved their class by winning titles? If I think about that, I can't recall any. I guess today you're nevertheless world class.

If he feels unfairly treated the place to talk about it is the manager's office, not German TV. Arsene has shown him the greatest respect, even today praising him for his professionalism, but Lehmann's reaction is completely out of order. The sarcastic tone, the implied threats to reveal 'the shocking truth!!' and the continued disparagement of his colleagues is too much.

It's almost impossible, injuries aside, to see Jens playing for us again and a January move seems ever more likely. We knew he was a bit mad when he signed, we've grown used to his antics, but his attitude since being dropped has been petulant and childish and we have a right to expect better from one of our most senior players.
