The Sale of Ronaldinho: Bad Business

Wednesday, 16 July 08, 04:58 AM

I posted this article from Sid Lowe at the Guardian as a throw-in on OleOle, but wanted to remark further on it. If all this is true, and Sid isn't one to make things up, nor base on sheer rumor, this whole Ronnie deal is an embarrassment for FCB. I want to take nothing away from Ronaldinho (or Eto'o for that matter), but how the sale of the Brazilian went from €60m to €21m is nothing if not an excellent example of how not to sell off a player. Unbelievable.  And there's still Eto'o to go as well. Personally, I'd like to see Laporta leave his office as soon as reasonably possible. The man and his board are losing their professionalism.  The house is in serious need of sweeping.

agreed, we definitely lost money on this deal. I think our biggest fault came from our declaration that he was not in our plans. That just makes it that much easier for other clubs to not offer us more money. I think that alone was a poor choice. That's my only criticism of Peppy G since his reign as coach began.
