Number 3 started school this week and of course being the doting dad that i am i take the week off to help her settle in.

Good morning fellow Gooners

You find me today not at my desk in Dublin but at my country retreat in Meath where i am preparing to spend the weekend with my beautiful wife at the plush Trim castle.

No im not sucking up in order to get away to London for a match (although i will be there within the next month or so)

No its our first anniversary and we are returning to scene of the crime as such for a weekend which i think will involve a lot of sleeping.

Oh but she is aware that i have plans for Saturday evening!!!

So we whooped Celtic during the week and cemented our place among the elite but it did come at a price!

Eduardo's dive on Wednesday im sorry to say cast a shadow over an otherwise brilliant performance from our lads.

As i seen him go over i didnt do my normal leap in the air at the prospect of a penalty instead i sat and shook my head. Still delighted about the award and subsequent goal but i could already see the headlines.

Look! we spend every saturday night looking at the likes of Torres and rubber legs Gerard and dont get me started on DROGBA and of course Lampard and then you have the bitch that is Rooney and oh yes Ronaldo(you see where im going with this) diving and lets not forget Pederson of Blackburn who right in front of me last year took the most silly of dives in our box and didnt receive the same treatment!

Good morning fellow gooners

At the moment as you can imagine im feeling very good about life!

Arsenal have a started the season like a pack of raging bulls (If bulls had speed and emormous technical ability)

All the murmers of discontent from the press and the prawn sandwich brigade of fans have for the moment been silenced by our bright start.

I have been particularly impressed with the form of Thomas Vermaelan and Alex Song!

Although El capitano has been running the show with his usual poise and drive and has been outstanding i feel he has actually been outshone by the aforementioned defender and midfielder.

A lot of the pre season worry has been about our inability to defend set pieces and to protect El Capitano.

In both the Everton & Celtic games Thomas Vermaelan was throwing himself into tackles and winning headers with an authority ive not seen in an Arsenal defender for a while

Im gonna stick my neck out here and say that i have not seen as good a defensive performance from an Arsenal player since Tony Adams (MR Arsenal)

And also i think we may about to see the best of William Gallas who seems to be playing with an extra pep in his step and a smile on his chevy chase.

Im not silly enough to think that he can put in performances like that every week but an impressive start from the Belgium international none the less.

With regard to Alex Song Billong i actually saw this coming.

Being a footballaphile as i am I watched a lot of the last ACN and could not believe at the time that this was the same player who was struggling to earn a regular squad place at the Grove and had been farmed out on loan to Charlton.

I always believed that given the confidence of a sustained period in the team that i would see the same player as the ACN where he was player of the tournament and obviously Le Boss thought so too.

A wily aul fox is our Arsene!!!

For quite a while now the boss has been deflecting questions about our defensive midfielder problem and now we all know why.

I did think that Alex would become a fearsome tackler and battler and i have been proved right with the added bonus of his new found ability to pass forward whereas last year when short on confidence he seemed to work across the pitch.

So well done Alex and Thomas keep up the good work!!!!!

Team news for the visit of Pmpey tomorrow is that Walcott is still unavailable due to this back injury.

Good news though is that Blinky(Eduardo)is available after a minor niggle which kept him out of the celtic match.

I would imagine the boss will go with more or less the same 11 who played Celtic in midweek and once we are in a comfortable position will change things with the return leg against the scots in mind.

The same thinking will be applied to the Celtic game as we have a massive game next week against Manure which if we win we will gain a massive confidence boost and put a serious dent in Manures title ambitions.(Beaten by burnley hahahahahahahah)

Sitting here this morning on an otherwise dull and dreary morning in Meath I feel a warmth i haven't felt for a while. A sense of relief if you will!

Like years ago when your mam and dad would go on holiday to Spain and leave ya with the Aunt & Uncle. You often miss them like crazy. Now although they drive ya mental when they are here there are also all the presents they give ya. And there is that sense of normality and return to routine.

We havent even kicked off yet and are already suffering an injury crisis with five our our first choice or thereabouts suffering with injurys ranging from the mild to the catastrophic.

Dont get me wrong I believe in Le boss and in the current climate I understand his thriftyness but not when your one more injury short of playing Silvestre in central defence FUCKS SAKE!!!

We need to go out and find a big monster of a player who can command the area and just blast clearances away. As I have said in previous blogs I do believe that Brede Hangelland would be the answer. Unless you give Djourou a Knee transplant so first of all he could play and secondly try make a clone of Tony Adams brain and place it in Djourou.

I know the boss is a genius but I think brain surgery would be a bit too much for him!

So we are gonna buy a couple more players. Or are we!

Arsene Wenger again done what he does best when he lead the press pack a merry dance when he spoke at the announcement of our clubs chosen charity of the year.

They all know what we need .You and i know aswell and for all the disgruntled prawn sandwich brigade yes yes so does the boss.

I think the boss may do what he normally does and wait around for the market to come to calm down and the combination of players trying desperately to get away from their clubs and clubs trying to offload either unsettled squad players or want away stars and of course yes we will make them sweat until the last couple of hours of deadline day in order to ge the best price possible.

I was very impressed with Fulham's Brede Hangeland last year and i feel if we persue our apparent interest he will bring what we need to stop conceding from all these set plays.

Gallas on his day is as good a defender as there is on the market these days but he aint tall !

Vermaelan is already injured so i dont know what the crack is there.

Djourou ahh Djourou if only you could stay fit you may just be the answer.

So should we sign the big lad from up the road? yes!That for me would be enough to shore up the defence and although i hear fulham are gonna look for 15 million i reckon Arsene will get them down to around 10 + add ons.

Good afternoon fellow gooners.

Today might be the day when we part company with Manu Adebayor.

Now although over the last season i have grown tired of his antics and general lack of effort im starting to wonder if we are doing the right thing.

Despite his moaning about the fans (Who put him where he is today)and courting the likes of AC and Barca constantly im starting to have my doubts!.

If you look at his stats ie goals to game ratio he is one of the best strikers around and given a little bit of confidence im sure he can become even better.

I think the big pay rise and the flirting with Beyonce(AC Milan)had diverted his focus and his performance and commitment began to dwindle.

Its like a breakup in the sense that now that we know it is over we actually remember the good times and have doubts.

I was playing fifa 09 online last night and i began playing without ade and found that after a couple of losses it was him that was the missing link. I hope thats not the case in the real world!.

First of all i have to apologise again this week for the lateness of my blog as my boss is away rubbing tan lotion on dudes in greece.

Anyone who read my last post would no that i wanted to put all the Cesc to Arselona rumors to bed and get on with the rest of the pre-season. I thought we had with El Capitano,s comments last week about his commitment.

Good morning sports fans from a relatively sunny Dublin (For how long though)

Lets start off with the news that Cesc is staying at Arsenal (Duh). You would think that we would have got used to the annual supposed exodus of our stars with the likes of Arselona or Madrid using their pull with Sport , El Mundo and radio Marca to unsettle otherwise happy players.

Now as much as i fucking hate this constant moaning and bile that comes from Arselona i cant help but try to see it from their point of view with regard to Cesc, imagine this scenario.

Jack Wilshire is lured away by the stinking paella eating mofos and goes on to become an instant success like Cesc. We would be absolutely livid and no doubt would bemoan the fact that we nurtured him from a very early age only for him to be snatched from us.

Anyone sympathising with Arselona yet ? Nah didnt think so!

The fact is that Cesc although highly thought of by Arselona was way back in a pecking order which included Xavi and Iniesta and realistically would probably be only reaching the first team now.

Arsene Wenger though took the gamble and brought the prodigious young Catalan to Highbury and the rest as they say is history.

I do wish that the british press especially would leave us the fuck alone and stop trying to make trouble for our club because i think that the constant speculation and lies are bound to take a toll on our captain eventually!. This is true because if you read the statement on the club website its quite clear that Cesc has a pain in his hole at this stage having to re-confirm his commitment to the club.

Anyway onto happier news and the arrival of Thomas Vermaelen (Spelling).I have not seen a lot of this guy apart from what is on youtube which is mostly him scoring goals which is cool but im sure Le Boss has seen enough in him to speed up the departure of William Gallas and Senderos.I will happily give that Gallas twat a piggy-back ride to his new club.

Dont get me wrong i do think Gallas was a great player at times for us but i was at the Birmingham game (In the away end) and although filled with concern for Blinky(Eduardo) i was absolutely disgusted with his actions at the end of the game and feel it was totally unbecoming of an Arsenal captain.I mean when you get used to the Frank Mc Lintock/Tony Adams/Patrick Viera captaincy,s who were all fantastic leaders of men who had the ability to pull a whole team up by the scruff of the neck you kinda wonder about the boss,s thinking on that one.

Cesc although still very young has it in him to get the whole team pulling in the same direction and i hope he is allowed by the spanish press to do just that for many years to come.

A lot of the rumour websites are linking us with Maroanne Chamakh and i must say that having viewed a couple of vids of the lad im not convinced at all.

However one lad that has been linked with us is Lorik Cana and im gonna nail my colours to the mast on this and say please can we have him. This guy is an absolute beast who spends his time kicking people up in the air and i think he would be the perfect foil for EL Capitano.
