UPDATE: According to Ian Doyle at the Daily Post, sources in Spain are indicating that Real Madrid striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy is interested in making a move to Liverpool. Supposedly Nistelrooy would like to leave so that he can get more playing time to help him earn a spot on the Dutch roster.
November 21st, 2009 According to Simon Mullock at MirrorFootball, Liverpool are interested in Real Madrid striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy and may attempt to sign him on loan.
According to MirrorFootball, Blackpool beat the deadline and signed Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan on loan until January 30th.
According to Stoke City’s official website, Stoke City have loaned out Nathaniel Wedderburn to Hereford United for five weeks and Tom Soares to Sheffield Wednesday for one month.
According to Ian Doyle at the Daily Post, Liverpool striker Andriy Voronin is drawing interest from Eintracht Frankfurt. However due to a lack of finances, the club might be only able to sign him on loan.
According to Nick Ive at MirrorFootball, Liverpool, Tottenham, and Manchester City are on alert as Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan admitted that he would not mind playing in the Premier League again. He said,

November 25th, 2009 According to ESPN Soccernet, Portsmouth have offered the vacant coaching position to former Chelsea manager Avram Grant. A source supposedly told ESPN,
“There will be a board meeting on Thursday and I would expect an appointment to be made then or on Friday at the latest. I really cannot see any name in the frame other than Avram. I have no idea where Darren Ferguson’s name came from, and I can see the bookies have made him favourite, but it is not something that has been suggested.”
“The new owners brought Avram here in case results didn’t go well and, the last two games, the team were back into a losing streak. It comes a point where you have got to act, otherwise you end up with the West Brom syndrome, playing well each week, losing and going down.”
“However, Paul Hart did a fabulous job under difficult circumstances and no one wants to see him leave.”
November 24th, 2009 According to Portsmouth’s official website, Portsmouth have fired coach Paul Hart. Hart was offered the position of technical director but he declined.
Portsmouth will announce a new manager quickly, but for the time being Paul Groves and Ian Woan will take over.
According to James Olley at the London Evening Standard, Arsenal defender Kerrea Gilbert will likely be leaving the club as it does not appear like the club will offer him a new contract after the season.
According to Sky Sports News, Manchester United starlet Zoran Tosic is happy at the club and does not want to be loaned out. Tosic was recently linked with Dutch side FC Twente. His agent Zoran Pavlovic said,
“Zoran is well in Manchester and he is staying at Manchester United … I have had no contact with FC Twente and Zoran is very happy at Manchester … He has three years left on his contract and he wants to fight for his place … His first option is to stay in Manchester.”
UPDATE: According to Colin Tattum at the Birmingham Mail, Birmingham can get a great deal for Standard Liege striker Milan Jovanovic (reported to be 3.75 million euros). His agent Barry McIntosh said,
“They can go and speak direct to the club if they want but I have the exclusive mandate to get specific terms for the player, and that’s come from their sporting director … So that could have more [legal] ramifications if they did do that.”
“I have managed to get Birmingham a fantastic deal for a player who absolutely destroyed Everton not too long ago in Europe … At the time there was talk of £10 million offers, but Standard Liege didn’t want to sell.
“Now he is coming to the end of his contract in June, and they have realised he doesn’t want to re-sign, so they are looking to get the maximum price in January.”
November 25th, 2009 According to Colin Tattum at the Birmingham Mail, Birmingham boss Alex McLeish admitted that he would like to sign Standard Liege striker Milan Jovanovic if he is available. He said,
“Having seen him in the summer I thought, yes, he’s quality … He’s out of contract at the end of this season and it was suggested there was an opportunity, but I don’t know … I don’t like to say too much because I don’t like disappointing the fans if players are mentioned and things then don’t happen … But I would definitely have Jovanovic at this club, if I could.”
November 21st, 2009 According to Simone Bargellini at Sky Sports News, Standard Liege striker Milan Jovanovic will not be leaving the club in January. His agent Torsten Weck told calciomercato.it,
“The only contacts I have had are with the Germans and the Spanish club, Valencia, in the first place.”
“The player will not go anywhere in January, but will remain until June because Standard Liege have played in the Champions League and therefore Jovanovic couldn’t play for another club in the competition this season.”
November 19th, 2009 According to Peter O’Rourke at Sky Sports News, Everton and Birmingham are both interested in Standard Liege striker Milan Jovanovic. Jovanovic’s contract ends after the season so the club might decide to cash in on him in January.
According to Bolton’s official website, Bolton have agreed to loan out striker Danny Ward to Swindon Town for one month.
UPDATE: According to Sky Sports News, Burnley chairman Barry Kilby is also interested in permanently signing Portsmouth striker David Nugent. Kilby said,
“We’re in discussions with Owen now to see what we can do … We’re sitting down and seeing where we can strengthen … I think David would come here like a shot and we’d like him here but we’d have to negotiate with Portsmouth when his deal is up.”
November 23rd, 2009 According to Sky Sports News, Burnley boss Owen Coyle admitted that he would love to permanently have David Nugent, who is currently at Burnley on loan from Portsmouth. Coyle said,
“David Nugent is a top-class player. If I could get him in permanently tomorrow I would love to do it … He is probably similar to one or two others in that he is a bit frustrated. But that is what we want - competition for places.”
UPDATE: According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal shareholder Stan Kroenke purchased 20 more Arsenal shares which makes him only 42 shares away from reaching the 30% level.
November 23rd, 2009 According to BBC News, Arsenal shareholder Stan Kroenke purchased ten more Arsenal shares increasing his ownership to 29.9%. If Kroenke increases his stake to 30%, he has to make an offer for the “entire stockholding.”
UPDATE: According to ESPN Soccernet, Fulham boss Roy Hodgson agreed to a contract extension with the club. He told the Evening Standard,
“It wasn’t a difficult discussion … We are basically in agreement and I’ve got to say it was very easy to come to that agreement.”
“It seems that everyone is keen for me to stay and I’ve always made it perfectly clear that I’m happy to stay. I’ve never made any secret of the fact that I’m happy at Fulham and I’m enjoying the job here. It is just a matter now of putting the contract discussions that we have already had onto paper.”
November 4th, 2009 According to Sky Sports News, Fulham boss Roy Hodgson is in talks with the club to sign a new contract. His current deal expires at the end of the season. Hodgson said,
“I am open to discussions … Fulham has already got in touch with my agent.”
According to Chris Burton at Sky Sports News, Deportivo La Coruna is interested in Tottenham midfielder Giovani dos Santos. The Spanish side has been tracking the Mexican footballer all season. However Deportivo boss Miguel Angel Lotina said,
“The market has not moved yet, we’ll wait and see what happens.”

According to Simon Bird at MirrorFootball, Sunderland boss Steve Bruce plans on scouting Athletic Bilbao midfielder Fran Yeste. Yeste is out of contract after this season and would not mind playing abroad. He said,
“If I can’t come to an agreement with Bilbao I would go abroad.”
According to Burnley’s official website, Burnley have agreed to pay “a six-figure fee” for Cork City defender Kevin Long. Long has agreed to sign a three-and-a-half-year deal.
