According to Harry Harris at ESPN Soccernet, Chelsea are closing in on signing Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero. Chelsea are prepared to offer the club £40million plus a possible £10million in incentives. In addition, they will offer Aguero a contract that will rise up to £250,000-a-week later in his contract.
A source of Harris’ said,
“There is still more talking to do, but let’s see. There is now a possibility, although with so many complications involved you would have to say it’s still 50-50 whether it will finally go though.”
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City and Manchester United are both interested in Real Madrid midfielder Guti. The club is looking for around £4million for Guti, who has supposedly started taking English lessons in preparation for a move.
UPDATE: According to Sky Sports News, Birmingham boss Alex McLeish is “doubtful” the club will get Standard Liege striker Milan Jovanovic. He said,
“I’ve always admired Jovanovic but whether he’s a player who can come here or not remains to be seen …I’m sure he has got many admirers and it’s a shame that something like that has got around because we try to keep as much private as possible.”
“I feel uncomfortable talking about players. From a fans’ perspective, to see us linked with players like that is brilliant, but I have to respect the fans … I could name another six big names that would excite them but if we don’t get them, they are disappointed.”
“We have got to keep our business private and move forward, but we will see if something can be done there. I don’t know though. It’s doubtful.”
November 26th, 2009 According to Colin Tattum at the Birmingham Mail, Birmingham can get a great deal for Standard Liege striker Milan Jovanovic (reported to be 3.75 million euros). His agent Barry McIntosh said,
“They can go and speak direct to the club if they want but I have the exclusive mandate to get specific terms for the player, and that’s come from their sporting director … So that could have more [legal] ramifications if they did do that.”
“I have managed to get Birmingham a fantastic deal for a player who absolutely destroyed Everton not too long ago in Europe … At the time there was talk of £10 million offers, but Standard Liege didn’t want to sell.
“Now he is coming to the end of his contract in June, and they have realised he doesn’t want to re-sign, so they are looking to get the maximum price in January.”

“Having seen him in the summer I thought, yes, he’s quality … He’s out of contract at the end of this season and it was suggested there was an opportunity, but I don’t know … I don’t like to say too much because I don’t like disappointing the fans if players are mentioned and things then don’t happen … But I would definitely have Jovanovic at this club, if I could.”
November 21st, 2009 According to Simone Bargellini at Sky Sports News, Standard Liege striker Milan Jovanovic will not be leaving the club in January. His agent Torsten Weck told calciomercato.it,
“The only contacts I have had are with the Germans and the Spanish club, Valencia, in the first place.”
“The player will not go anywhere in January, but will remain until June because Standard Liege have played in the Champions League and therefore Jovanovic couldn’t play for another club in the competition this season.”
November 19th, 2009 According to Peter O’Rourke at Sky Sports News, Everton and Birmingham are both interested in Standard Liege striker Milan Jovanovic. Jovanovic’s contract ends after the season so the club might decide to cash in on him in January.
UPDATE: According to Nick Ive at Sky Sports News, Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti admitted that he will not be going after AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso. He said,
“I’m disappointed that things aren’t going well at this moment,” said Ancelotti. “Now, he has injury and I hope he will be better. No, Rino is a Milan player. I had a very good relationship with him, but I don’t think he’ll be coming here in January.”
November 24th, 2009 According to Salvatore Landolina at Goal.com, Sportmediaset is reporting that Chelsea are interested in AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso. Gattuso supposedly wants to leave the club so that he can get more playing time.
November 18th, 2009 According to Peter O’Rourke at Sky Sports News, there is no truth in the rumor linking AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso with Manchester City. Gattuso’s agent, Andrea D’Amico said,
“There is no truth in the Manchester City link … I have had no contact with Manchester City at this moment … Gennaro is coming back from injury and he is okay at Milan.”
According to The News, new Portsmouth boss Avram Grant will look to bring in new players this January. He said,
“I think the squad is good enough (to survive) … But we need players who can improve us, especially as the African Cup of Nations means some will be out for a month.”
Chairman Peter Storrie also admitted that some funds will be available for Grant. He said,
“It is my understanding money will be available. We have a very professional scouting system and Avram was already looking at players.”
According to Francisco Acedo at Sky Sports News, Valencia are willing to sell striker David Villa if the club is capable of finding a replacement for him. Coach Unai Emery said,
“The exit of Villa will be dependant on us identifying a suitable replacement … At the moment the club is working on that, but any decision will not rest with me.”
“My mission is to prepare the squad for the present and not think too much about the future … Valencia will always be a big club and we do not depend on just one or two players.”
Manchester City, Manchester United, and Chelsea have all been linked with the forward in the past.
According to Vince Masiello at Goal.com, ilcalciomercato.it is reporting that Bologna representatives were in London to being negotiating a deal to send striker Pablo Daniel Osvaldo to Fulham.
UPDATE: According to Andy Cryer at the Lancashire Telegraph, Blackburn have finally begun to start talking about a new contract with midfielder David Dunn.
Also, it is reported that contract talks have stalled with starlet Junior Hoilett, which has gotten the attention of Hamburg who are interested.
November 20th, 2009 According to Peter Fraser at Sky Sports News, Blackburn midfielder David Dunn admitted that the club has yet to have discussions with him regarding a contract extension. His current deal with the club ends after this season. Dunn said,
“My contract is up at the end of the season … I don’t know what is going to happen with that so we will just wait and see … I’m just one of them. As long as I keep doing my stuff on the pitch, one way or another, whether it is at Blackburn or elsewhere, there will be options there for me at the end of the season.”
“There have been no talks as yet. I just sit there and keep doing what I do best on the pitch and everything off the pitch will take care of itself.”
“My agent and the club, if they want to do something that will be sorted out. If not, we will certainly have options come January or the end of the season.”
According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is prepared to offer £4million for Rangers defender Madjid Bougherra. Redknapp may look for defenders during the next transfer window as he has deal with injuries to Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate.
According to James Nursey at MirrorFootball, Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole is not happy with the current contract talks with the club as he wants more money. Cole, who’s current contract ends after the year, currently makes £80,000-a-week but wants to make over £100,000-a-week.
According to Richard Torgerson at Sky Sports News, AIK Solna defender Markus Jonsson admitted that he has not heard of any interest from Stoke City. He said,
“I heard [about Stoke] when I came in to training … He had read it somewhere. But I don’t know if there is anything to it. My agent and I will talk by the end of the week.”
“I don’t know about Stoke. But I had a meeting with AIK …We agreed to try to a transfer, but when the clubs came to look at me in June I got injured and AIK had already brought on Lorentzson so the situation has become a little odd.”
“I had a meeting with Bjorn (Wesstrom, sporting director) and he said that AIK would like to keep my in the squad over next year.”
According to Fulham’s official website, Fulham defender Brede Hangeland signed a new deal with the club that will keep him there until the summer of 2013.
