Dani Alves is a great signing. Absolutely brilliant. The best so far.

And something else, I started thinking that Nike could've gotten inspiration for our next season's kit from here. Blue color for the right shoulder and red for the left. :D

it will be exciting considering messi already requires 3 players to hold him down....so i expect opposing teams will divert half of their 10 players to the right.....lol
i really wish other players will step up so we can move towards perfection

welcome alves :D . Personally at the moment i am really looking forward to hear something about our medical team . i mean we do have great players and skills but we could simply kill all these efforts by treating our players poorly . i wish pep pay attention to this point as barca suffered pretty much from this problem last season

Good signing for Barca.

Alves is a critical peice of the attack and commend Barca on his signing :)

However, I stated this before: Messi doesnt reall track back, Alves is usually by the oppositions pentaly spot and Toure is usually protecting the left hand left from the invisible Abidal. If we are not careful we could get absolutely slaughtered on the counter-attack. Just a note of caution lads...

Seems better than last year. I cannot over state how sh*t Abidal is though. He is an embarresment to Barca and the French team. The team above is presuming Eto and R10 is going. I hope Eto doesnt but if he does and Pep stays 4-3-3 then the above formation will probably be the one Pep uses.

What do you guys think of our team now on paper? Complete? Unbalanced? Too attacking? What do you think? :)

The right back position is now well covered.
We need to hope that Abidal gets his form back, with also the signing of Henrique our defensive line would be solid.
But i just keep getting surprised every year with them keeping Valdes, and SHOCKINGLY renewing Jorquera's contract! Why not invest in a good Goalie that can make critical and consistent saves for the team??
Every counter attack against us i would be thinking Sh*t they're going to score against us and YES 99% of the time they do.
Honestly am sick of getting Surprised every now and then when Valdes makes a save.

In my opnion the best right back in the world! Hailed as a great attacking right back, I believe that his defending skills are often times overlooked. It's just a shame that Zambrotta never quite showed all his abilities at Barca. Let's hope that Alves is just as good at Barca as he was at Sevilla.

great signing! and to kiss the badge and speak in catalan at the press conference, very nicely done dani!! i think the team is looking stronger and stronger but i feel i must defend a few people here...firstly i think abidal is a great left back, i dont think i even need to justify that, he just is, maybe he had a few poorish games last season but for me he's fantastic and if we get a settled back 4 then i think he will excel!!!....secondly, i think valdes is actually a very good keeper, yes he has his moments of insanity (liverpool in the champions league 06/07 anyone!) but so does iker and reina and cech so i think he gets a bad press far more than he deserves and im very happy to have him!! i guess we'll see next season!?

so just two more points...i think sylvinho has been a great servant of the club and slots in brilliantly when needed and im very happy he got a new contract for next season! anyone else?!....and lastly i think if we get the no.9 sorted and maybe arshavin and hleb / silva then i have high hopes for next season but i just wonder who will be the first choice centre back pairings!? will probably be puyol and milito (when fit) but i just wonder about milito at times, his decision making can be a bit, well, not too clever, and i wonder if caceres or pique wont get the nod....so for me puyol and caceres, well maybe!!???

i think puyol and pique will start as center backs.....i think caceres will play more as a left back....hes really good in that position....i saw the peru uruguay game and he did great there

I'm with blaugrana_rover...Abidal isn't wretched; he had a dip in form. First seasons with a new club always have the potential to be difficult. Also, Sylvinho can cover that position well, if needed (and plays some wicked crosses. Abidal should take note).

Further, Valdez is a lot better than most people will admit. Errors, as we've seen from many world class goal keepers this past month, are pretty standard even for the best. I think it deserves mentioning that Barça actually allowed fewer goals per game last season than Madrid...so all of this focus on the weakness of our defense may be a little misguided. Where we really lacked was in the production of goals.

Regarding this post, what an exciting signing! Hopefully everything meshes well...Alves overlapping Messi! Does it get any better?

I really hope (Caleb and Blaugrana rover) are right.
Don't get me wrong, i defended Valdes amongst Barca and non Barca fans, but most of the time he just doesn't help!
I personally like him, but last year, game after game, every time i think Sh*t it's a goal, it always turns out a goal. I understand all class Goalkeepers make mistakes and aren't always consistent, we all saw what happened to Cech against Turkey, he basically handed them the win. However, Valdes Gifted Madrid the liga every time we conceded a goal and end up drawing 12 consecutive times? that's 24 points lost?!
I hope next year he does well if he stays, i just think that they should AT LEAST get him a proper Challenge like they did when Rustu arrived, he played his ass off to keep him on the bench!

Abidal is great, but we all can agree he had a huge dip in form, and we all know that he can get back, but how soon we don't know..
Zambrotta for instance never got his true form back, the ONE match he was THE TRUE ZAMBROTTA was in the MANU vs BARCA game, i loved that guy, he kept Ronaldo out of the game the entire time. Unfortunately it came down to Scholes to nail it and sadly he did.

Pique is being presented right now, he's really TALL! Good choice, now i understand why ManU went for him..
Frankly i think we need tall players, it would be an interesting combo having the PP's together* (Puyol & Pique).

is there not a work permit problem with the brazilian players at the minute (excludng alves)? i agree we could do with some height but look at spain against germany - brain versus brawn! i always thought sylvinho could do a better job than abidal and perhaps it should be the frenchman fighting for his place?
