Barça Start Pre-Season At Wembley Against Tottenham And Al-Ahly

As fans with an overload of excitement at the moment we may not be thinking too much about next season, but the club have today announced we will start pre-season training for 2009/2010 in London. The team will travel to London on July 21st and we will play two friendly matches against the English team Tottenham Hotspur on July 24th and the Egyptian team Al-Ahly on July 26th. Both matches will take place at Wembley stadium which will always have a special place in Barça's history as the scene of our first European Cup win in 1992 when Ronald Koeman's extra time free kick was enough to beat Sampdoria 1-0. After the stay in London Barça will probably travel to the USA to play more friendlies, but nothing has been made official yet.

Barça last played Spurs in the semi-finals of the European Cup Winners Cup in 1982 winning 2-1 on aggregate and going on to lift the trophy beating Standard Liege 2-1 in the final at Camp Nou. We played Al-Ahly more recently in a friendly in Egypt in 2007 Barça won the game 0-4 and it was Bojan Krkic's first appearance for the first team, Bojan was still only 16 at the time but he managed to get on the scoresheet.

Well Lets hope Barca Wins both matches. I want to that Ahly game in Egypt. On of the best Nights of my life. Barca should win El Ahly 10 this time. Ahly is waaaaaaaaaaaaay worse this season that the last time he might even lose the League ( That is big in Egypt I almost called it the Ahly League ) Any way Nic ( or anyone else for that matter )if you have any questions about El Ahly ask away I'm Egyptian and happy to answer.

The report from the FC Barcelona website doesn't mention Celtic or the so-called Wembley Cup - LINK (sorry only in Spanish)
However, the Guardian reports that Celtic will take part in this "tournament" and so will Barça - LINK

LordOfTheWing - Presumably if it's Barça v Spurs on Friday 24 then Celtic will play El-Ahly the same day. Likewise on Sunday 26 it will be Barça - Al-Ahly and Celtic - Spurs
