Bojan Makes Spanish Debut

Thursday, 11 September 08, 01:11 AM · Comments (11)

Just a couple of weeks past his eighteenth birthday, Bojan Krkic last night made his first appearance for the Spanish National Team coming on as a substitute for Santi Cazorla in the 65th minute of the 4-0 win over Armenia. Bojan had one effort near the end to mark his debut with a goal but his low shot was saved by the Armenian goalkeeper. Puyol, Xavi and Iniesta also played in the game, though Xavi was substituted in the 73rd minute.

It was generally a good night for Barça's international players: Thierry Henry was back on the scoresheet for France in the 2-1 victory against Serbia, while Alexandr Hleb also got a late goal in Belarus's 1-3 win away to Andorra. Eidur Gudjohnsen got another goal for Iceland, this time from the penalty spot, but it wasn't enough to prevent a 1-2 defeat at home to Scotland.

Late last night Leo Messi featured in Argentina's 1-1 draw in Peru, and Martin Caceres reported had a very good game in Uruguay's 0-0 draw with Ecuador in Montevideo.

On Tuesday night Gerard Pique got the second goal in Spain's under-21 2-0 win against Russia. Pedro Gonzalez played 72 minutes of the game.

Now, let's just hope all the players get back in time, and are in condition to play against Racing Santander on Saturday evening.

The young man had a nice showing with his phenomenal pace. I am really looking forward to seeing him play more for us, maybe even start in Henry's place. Bojan has great footwork, reads the pace very well and has quite a shot. He should work on his aerial game to be a more complete player. I was happy to see our guys (Andres, Xavi and Puyol) truly play like the heartbeats of the spanish team that they are. Puyol was really present, aware and covered well. Xavi might just be the best midfielder in the world right now.

I am with you Blau...Namibia, I think I will just let Friday slide and be ready for Racing on Saturday. Barca 3 Racing 0 (Eto'o, Henry, Iniesta).

I agree with you about Henry. I would rather have Iniesta, Bojan, Pedro or Jeffern instead of Henry. Anybody else is an improvement. Henry has one crappy, lame ,comical and useless move ! It is time for a change. However, as long as Guardiola is the coach, I don't see that happening.

lol its always Henry's fault, now the best Football Manager in the world, Barca-Rotterdam, beleives Pep should be removed just to see Henry removed =D

Henry scored another goal for France and played well and does this playing as a central s t r i k e r, nota useless winger. Thierry Henry is a striker, not a winger, so unless a Barca manager is willing to play him there I wish people would accpet we are not going to see the best of him in a Barca shirt.

Great news about Bojan, if eto'o had gone Im sure Bojan would have played a lot more this season with Henry but it seems he'll have to wait at least another season before being a 1st team regular which is right in my opinion. Last season he was tired, burnt-out and frankly looked lost at times. He is 18 years old, needs nuturing and looking after or he will fail miserably. Give him time and he'll be a Barca legend now doubt. Great for Spain all round, they look impervious at the moment and lets hope they continue this as it gives me a reason to actually watch a internation team!! =D

just d difference in henry's commitment for france and barcelona got me upset...not in d mood for a henry's argument

who watched brazil and argentina's 2nd qualifying matches, football is getting boring, rough and tough as a results of all the frustrating tactics of these so-called lesser teams....those peru guys wanted to kill messi i was scared...thats the 1st match i've watched that messi hardly touched the ball in the first half...there were more than 20 vicious fouls against him alone....refs need to do more abt this issue

Just because you have a high regard for Henry, it does NOT make him suck any less !! Henry was a good player with Arsenal but he has nothing left to contribute especially at Barca. He is a player in decline. I doubt if he or Guardiola will be around beyond 2010 !!
