Real Madrid’s 3-2 defeat at Villarreal means that Football Club Barcelona are mathematically champions of La Liga 2008/2009. This is Barça’s 19th league title and our first since Frank Rijkaard’s team won it in 2006. It also completes our first Liga and Copa double since 1997/1998 and there now just remains the Champions League Final with Manchester United in Rome on May 27 to complete a historic treble.It has been an incredible season for Pep Guardiola and the team, I’ve already written various articles on all the records we have broken this season so I think I will save all that for another day. It is nearly 2.30 in the morning here in Barcelona and the streets are still full of people celebrating. This is all pretty exhausting for the fans: a celebration after humping Madrid 2-6, another after Andres Iniesta’s last gasp goal against Chelsea, one on Wednesday night for winning the Copa del Rey, and now this. I’m going to try and get some sleep now, tomorrow we can sit back and enjoy watching the team at Mallorca. Enjoy it people, we are Champions of La Liga, Copa del Rey winners and we still have the enormous opportunity of putting the cherry on the cake in ten days time in Rome.Visca el Barça!!!

BARCA ARE CHAMPIONS!! What a season it has been.
Im so happy to see Barca win and Real Madrid lose the title with a loss against a team Barca beat away. We deserve it, we've beaten the 2nd best team home and away, beaten all the top 4 convincingly and just been the best team in Europe with Manchester United.
Enjoy the day Cules, these do not happen nearly enough.

really feels good being the champions, i'm gonna wear all my abt 15 barca jerseys/training kits from now till d final
Yayyyyy...We are the champions...even tho we woulda won the league even if they had drawn, but when they equalized in the 88th minute..i was pretty incensed...I felt great when Capdevila scored in the injury time...fuccck los putos blancos...
what a season it's been for us...congrats to all fellow cules..and tons of thanks to Coach Guardiola and our terrific team..Viva Barca..hope we win the treble also...
Congrats everyone ! We definitely deserved it ! Did you guys notice that all three big European leagues ended in the same night
. Barca,Inter & Manchester United all where Crowed Champions last night ! Amazing Really ! All that is left now is Rome ! How was the streets over there Nic, Did you mange to get any sleep mate 
Wish we could be there to join in the celebrations in Barcelona, Nic. What an amazing time to be living in the city. Congrats to all the cules especially after the pain of the last two seasons. This is a sweet taste I want to savor for the next week and a half. I think it's fantastic that the CL Final will pit the champions of England against the champions of Spain. What more can we ask for? Campions!

Barcelona are the best, well done team - and congrats to all fellow Cule's, many happy return on the 27th.
This season has truely been magnificent and frustrating at times, but that can be forgotten as we've won! and nothing else matters no ill emotions only celebrations and praise on this team and their young, but disiplined coach.

You have to give Arshavin credit for his honesty . With our midfielders and front line players very few players would have a chance at starting . I can only think of Ribery , Robben or Silva who may have a legitimate chance at starting !!
I don't know abt Ribery, but Arshavin is def. as good as Robben or Silva..
Well, this is confusinbg to say the least...I think it makes more sense to play the second in the league rather than the Cup loser. There again, Real Madrid was eliminated by freaking Real Union...so why again should we play them in the Supercup beats me. I think this is a dangerous proposition for Barcelona....this Supercup has already been won because we won both...thus should simply be awarded to Barcelona.

Abidal just committed another stupid foul that resulted in a goal for the opposing team . I'm glad he is going to miss the CL final !!
wow!!! great game....with so many young stars...we lost the game though ..its fine to give them some match experience....
but abidal...wow...he simply forgot playing football...he is horrible....i also din like the keeper...there was only one shot at our goal...which he failed to grip ..luckily it was safe then. the freekick was extremely good....but i din like his reflection on the any of the goal...
Eto was not given rest so that he can get some moral booster by scoring some...that worked in a worst manner....now he wil feel responsible for the loss....he would better be given rest......he din get any benifit from the match other than making the tally 29 at the cost 5/6 miss....so i m afraid of his performance in CL final when we will not have plenty of chances.....
He will be get back his form soon....
