Copa Del Rey Preview: Barça - Benidorm

Tuesday, 11 November 08, 02:08 PM · Comments (17)

Victor Sanchez in the first leg at Benidorm

As is becoming customary Pep Guardiola will not announce the squad for tomorrow night's 2nd leg Copa del Rey match with Benidorm until the day of the match. However, he gave an indication of his intentions today when no players from Barça Atlètic were included in the first team training session. Guardiola refuses to allow his players to relax and today talked again of the problems of over-confidence and the dangers of falling into the bad habits of the last two seasons. He also said that nobody should treat tomorrow's game as a friendly.

Whatever the case the 0-1 lead from the first leg should never be put in danger against a team from the Second Division B. Guardiola will no doubt give minutes to some of the lesser used players and to the players returning from injury. The players will train at 12.00 tomorrow morning before going home to rest, then they will arrive at Camp Nou at 19.30 to prepare for the game which kicks off at 21.00. Albert Jorquera will be unavailable due to suffering from gastroenteritis while Milito, Abidal and Iniesta are all still out.

We cannot possibly expect to see football at the same level we witnessed in Saturday's 6-0 drubbing of Valladolid, but let's at least hope the game is not as dull as the first game in Benidorm.

Apologies for the lack of posts in the last couple of days, I now have my internet connection sorted out so normal service will be resumed. There wasn't much to report anyway apart from the change to Leo Messi's diet (he now eats fish!) and the fascinating interview with Thierry Henry on Catalan TV in which he revealed that he likes to play cluedo.

Possible starting XI: Pinto; Alves, Marquez, Caceres, Sylvinho; Gudjohnsen, Busquets, Keita; Hleb, Bojan, Pedro.

My Prediction: Barça 3 Benidorm 0

Hahahahahaha!! Good Madrid dogs =D

As for Barca, I think maybe a tight and boring game but nevertheless I think they will get through but we have to be careful.

I think Pep will air on the side of caution and feild a strong side:

Pinto; Alves, Marquez, Caceres, Sylvinho; Gudjohnsen, Busquets, Sanchez, Keita; Hleb, Bojan,

previously I thought we need to win only 1-0, but after Madrid Fools loosed so shamely, we need to tear this Benidorm at least 3-0 to show everyone how to play football despite the status and level of the enemy ))))

Madrid out isn't good ! Madrid playing in the cup means more games for them this way they will be as tired as Barca players in the league ( If we go throw any way ) Besides I want to win Madrid in there best fourm not when there down. Why should you celebriate winning a losing team anyway ? Trust me The Madrid Result isn't as good as you think. Not to mantion this will mean they will have to buy new players and change the Manager. Its not a good thing trust me

I have said before and I will say it again: Madrid are irrelevant this year. They are NOT going to win any title. They WILL be eliminated in the next round of the CL (if they make it to next round ) !! Barça should take this match seriously and try to secure the match asap then make substitutions later. None of that Basel stupid strategy !!

Barca-Rotterdam, I agree with your team selection except that I think Gudjohnson will take Touré's place, in oder to give Guddy more playing time.

Barca 3-0

Guardiola needs to reassess his strategy when playing lesser opponents . His Plan B is NOT reassuring !!
