Eto'o Reaches 100 Goals For Barça

Thursday, 25 September 08, 06:45 AM · Comments (17)

Eto'o celebrates a goal against Valencia

With the two goals scored last night Samuel Eto'o has reached a grand total of 100 goals for Barça. He has taken just over four seasons to achieve this. In his first season (2004/05) he scored 29, followed by 34 in 2005/06, in 2006/07 he was out injured for a long time but still managed 13, while last season he scored 18 despite again missing half the season due to injury and the African Cup. This season he has now netted 6 times.

His goals have come in four different competitions: 80 goals have been scored in La Liga, 17 in the Champions League, 2 in the Copa del Rey, and 1 was scored in the Spanish supercopa. Eto'o is only 27 years old and for me still the best goalscorer in the world, I wouldn't bet against him scoring another 100 for the club. Thank God we never sold him.

Eto'o is top 5 in the world you can always rely on him for goals. I would really like to see Eto'o and Henry play together in a traditional 4-4-2.

Who did Barcelona play in world club championship? What was the score did Barca win?

CORRECTION : Barça played INTERNACIONAL from BRAZIL in the FIFA Club World Cup. Mixing a Brazilian team for an Argie one is a terrible sin and it hurts me deeply... hahahaha... just joking...

Apologies. It appears my source (this morning's newspaper) got it wrong. Eto'o didn't even play in the club world cup thing as he was injured at the time. I believe I have found the missing goal, it was scored in a 0-3 win at Betis in the Spanish supercopa in August 2005.
On another note the papers also dispute the number of games Eto'o has played to reach the 1oo goals. Some say 153 games and some say 154. I'm afraid my database is not big enough to confirm one way or another.

but one thing can be confirmed for sure....he is too good.

I have always felt samuel eto'o is underrated. He had an amazing season winning the pichichi two years ago but most of the limelight was stolen by ronaldinho so eto'o never really got the recognition he deserves. Well he did come third in the fifa player of the year rankings but yeah the fellow who won it was ronaldinho.

Congrats Eto'o, such a treat to watch. At one point didn't Sammy have some absurd goal ratio like 1 goal per 30 mins?
