Euro 2008 Turkey 1 Croatia 1 (Turkey Win 3-1 On Penalties)

Saturday, 21 June 08, 11:22 AM · Comments (5)

Turkey qualified for the semi finals of Euro 2008 after a thrilling finish to their quarter final match with Croatia. One of the game's main protagonists was ex-Barça goalie Rü?tü Reçber who was at fault when Croatia took the lead in the 119th minute, but after Turkey equalized with the last kick of the game, Rü?tü turned hero with the penalty save that put Turkey through.

For me Friday night is curry night which meant I only saw the first half at home before going out. Luckily for me, and unluckily for my friends, the game was on in the restaurant so I was able to follow the whole game while enjoying my chicken jalfreizi.

I thought Modric had a very good game for Croatia and in the first half he set up a great chance that Olic could only send against the crossbar from 6 yards. Croatia had most of the game in normal time but failed to come as close again. In extra time Turkey came back into it a bit more, but just when it seemed the game was heading for penalties Modric crossed for Klasnic to score with just a minute left on the clock. The Croats celebrated as if they had won but Turkey who have become the great escape team of the tournament hit back in injury time when Semih Senturk cracked home an equalizer.

This goal must have taken something out of Croatia as Modric and Rakitic both sent their penalties wide before Rü?tü saved from Petric to win it for Turkey who now face Germany in the semi final.

was a boring game all in all. this run is nice for turkey but there is no chance they will pull anything off vs germany. no arda, no tuncay, and rustu looking super suspect in goal, no chance.

and i PRAY that marca is talking crap about adebayor, but i keep reading that the VP is in london, so there is something to it. i will be very sad if he is the final solution.

by the way, someone said something that really struck me and i totally agree. guardiola will be either the best thing for barca, or the worst.

@ blaugranaboy - If Adebayor signs for Barca, we are ruined lol.

I will sit here all day and defend Hlen signing for Barca all day because beleive me he is an unbelievable player times, but Adebayor is just plain weird.

COMPLETELY right footed, poor finisher with poor decision making and an average first touch. I remember at least 5 times last year when all he had to do was square the ball to a team mate for an open goal but instead shot and missed - much like a Giovanni dos Santos greedy player.

However, he is fantasticly strong in the air, decpetively fast and can score the odd wonder-goal (think Tottenham away).

If he is to be our third striker then I am worried to be honest. Unless Pep is going for a 4-4-2 with Henry and Adebayor up front with Messi and Iniesta/Xavi just behind with Alves providing support, then I dont see how it will work. 4-4-3 you need to be able to move quickly, be agile and make good decisions which I think Adebayor doesnt have.

HOWEVER, Barca of this year was much like Arsenal of last. They sturggled in away games. Adebayor came in and led the line away from home and they magically become strong and solid away from home. So maybe Barca are hoping that he has the same affect on the team away from home.

And to be honest, if Marca are reporting that its a done deal and not just specultion, it probably is. They broke the Zidane, Beckham and Henry transfers I beleive and were right. In the mean team, to cheer you up watch this video. It was posted after the Tottenham vs. Arsenal game when Adebayor played well for a change :) LINK

Barca just wasting time consider to transfer Adebayor..
why don't barca increase the cash transfer villa in?
Adebayor i think don't able to play with Barca's tactics...
he has nothing special thn Villa!
For me Villa is capable to play role in counter attack and score the winning goal for his team

i don't think Adebayor Good.. for me, he has nothing extra than David villa! . it just like we will sell a world-class striker (eto'o) and then buy a lower class forward! i think villa would be a good and better replacement for eto'o
Barca should consider to transfer villa in
