Laporta Survives As Barça President

Sunday, 24 August 08, 01:19 PM · Comments (9)

After a troubled summer in which he scraped through a vote of no confidence, Joan Laporta has been confirmed today by the General Assembly as Barça president until 2010. The members who form the Assembly have voted by nearly 55% in favour of Laporta and have also approved the economic budget for the coming season.

The likes of Sandro Rossell or Ferran Soriano who may both have their eyes on Laporta's position, will now have to wait until the elections of 2010. After the good sensations that the football team is showing this can only be a positive thing for the club after all the instability created by the vote of no confidence. I know many won't agree with me but I feel that despite his faults Laporta deserves to finish his mandate.

it was never really a doubt this would happen. truth be told, i just want to let all this management crap behind and now concentrate on the actual football.

Welcome back Nic, hope you had a good time in the sun 8)

Barca been quiet on the footballing front with them salvaging a last-gasp win against Boca which seems to have prolonged Pep's honeymoon with the club although it has to be said he tried a combination of players which obviously just didnt work but im sure we'll be fine come the first league game.

As for the Lapotra saga, Im glad its over and Barca can concentrate 100% on footballing matters, all the doubters got their wish, and they lost. Its done now, everyone including the disgruntled fans should accpet it and move on now and get behind the team.

I look forward to your next reports Nic and btw, next time your away let me do one of the reports for you as it seems so dull without your match reports =D

Yeah, I agree, good news. I never really understand why it is necessary to change literally everything in the club only because we won nothing for two seasons. We now have really good conditions to play a role in La Liga and in the Champions League

Finally, all this comotion can be put to rest..

I'm glad that Laporta will now be able to complete his mandate - as this will reduce instability and restore some lost faith.

can this season just start, i'm sick and tired of no soccer...
