Laporta Vote Set For July 6

Tuesday, 10 June 08, 08:46 PM · Comments (2)

The date was set today for the mocio de censura (vote of no confidence) against Barça president Joan Laporta. The club members will have their say on July 6 and the voting will take place at the Miniestadi. The opposition to Laporta, led by Oriol Giralt will need to gain two-thirds of the vote to oust Laporta from his presidency.

I've said before that I do not support this motion. Laporta has made mistakes but I believe overall he has done a pretty good job and deserves to complete his mandate until 2010. The opposition has only brought instability to the club and do not seem to be offering any alternatives. I know a lot of people would like to see Sandro Rosell take over, but I have to ask them what do they really know about Rosell apart from he was behind the Ronaldinho signing. Besides, Rosell has been keeping his mouth shut, supposedly waiting to see how things develop. I'm worried that if Rosell becomes president one day he will want to be the one who decides who we sign, when that job should be left to the sporting director in collaboration with the first team coach.

I think it is a stupid thing to do, Laporta has done very well to steady the ship in recent years, and this vote of no confidence, will just bring instability to the club, we are in a critical place right now, rebuilding for the new season ahead, and stability is the key. we need unity not people trying to oust people who don't even have an idea who the new president would be, if they get the vote and what they would do if they get into power. senseless dumb move, by an idiot.

I SERIOUSLY hope they don't get the vote.
Forza Laporta

Laporta has brought the FCB brand into world-wide favor and he has restored the Camp Nou to a good place to enjoy football. Yet there is something wrong with the club and as a member I don't know what. That bad signings have taken place is certain. Txiki seems to be the lightning rod yet he gets little blame. That players such as Ronaldinho, Deco, Eto'o and others want out tells me something is wrong internally. But what? That Frank was pushed out and Pep, a "B" coach takes over is concerning, to say the least. As a member I want to know more about what is really going on. I wish players and Frank would speak openly. I feel like a doctor whose patient is not telling me the whole truth. How can I vote?
