There may be a touch of bias here of course but readers of this blog clearly believe that Leo Messi deserved to win this year's Ballon d'Or. With 256 votes (62%) the little Argentinian blew away his rivals. Xavi Hernandez was second with 39 votes pipping Cristiano Ronaldo into third place (37 votes) and Samuel Eto'o was fourth with 34 votes. Apart from the players listed on the poll there were also three votes each for Steven Gerrard and Ronaldinho, and there was also a vote each for "my girlfriend for her ball skills" and for "Nic for his hard work on this blog". Cheers!
I've stuck up another poll now to see who you think is most likely to stop Barça in this season's Champions League. Personally I see Manchester United as the biggest threat. What do you think?

Had Barcelona won the Champions League, Messi would have deserved it. As a player, he is undeniably better than Ronaldo, but for this award, there are other factors and titles is one of them.
Not just a touch of bias, a full feel of bias....LOL
256-37,thats too much LOL. even eto that hardly played earlier in the year took fourth
Everybody knows the story of messi-ronaldo this year so no need to go into it again, anyways I hope to see about 5 or 6 barca players fighting for the award next year
by the way, this blog pulls some heavy traffic nowadays,
256 votes for messi, are u sure there wasnt some double voting....lol
Layi and Blaugranaboy
No, you heard me right ... I want another centerback and I am not crazy!
1)You guys are nuts to believe that we will see the Milito we saw last year anytime soon. After one year of injury it is hard to think that we can just go back to where he was: not gonna happen, especially with a knee.
2) Marques is proned to injury as we saw last week. I do not need to comment any further on it. It is very obvious that his days as a top flight player are numbered.
3) Caceres is not really a center back. He really is a right/left back. He lacks size and is much more of a Franco Baresi wannabe than pure sang Roger Mendy. I have to admit I like the guy very much but I do not see him holding down Barca in the middle in a Champions´ league final (any takers?)
4) Pique has been great so far! besides a couple of mistakes I am very happy with his displays this season.
5) That only leaves me with Puyol...a beast through and through!!!
6) Enrique would have never been loaned out if he were that ¨fantastic¨ to start with.
The combination in the middle of the defense is i think our possible undoing. I am sure you will cite me the fact that so far we´ve had the best defense in te league, so on and so forth...I agree but I am being forward looking and as we move into the secong half of the season...i am honestly tempted to ¨doubt¨ our ability to be consistent in the middle of the defense.
RICHEST SCAMMER IN WEST AFRICAN EX KELLY DECO NEW JOHN COLE KESHIRO .SHOULD BE THE RICHEST AND THE MOST POPULAR SCAMMER NOW IN AFRICA
Although I'm a huge Messi fan, I think my most hated player, cristiano ronaldo was better than Messi but Torres had a great season and he should have won, also Toni and Ribery were awesome but ronaldo in the end was voted the best. Why was he the best only because the huge stars were injured such as : Messi, Kaka, Totti, Ibrahimovic and Ronaldinho was out of form so Ronaldo didnt win it deservingly so I think Torres and Ribery were the best.
Messi this year would definitely be the best so no fears over that.
