Ronaldinho Picked For The Olympics

Tuesday 8th July by fcbnews_nic · 16 Comments

Ronaldinho has been named in Brazil's list of 18 for this summer's Olympic Games in Beijing. The Brazilian football federation has expressed its intention of including him in their Olympic squad but unlike the case of Leo Messi, FC Barcelona will have the last word on whether the player goes or not. In Messi's case Barça have few options of stopping him going, whereas with Ronaldinho the situation is different as the player is one of the three over-23 players chosen, and in these cases the final decisions rests in the hands of the player's club. Brazil will now have to wait to hear whether Barça give the player permission or not. So, should Barça let Ronaldinho go? Or will we sell him soon anyway and leave the decision with his new club?

He hasn't been that thin since 2004. Geez he makes me mad. I love him for what he did for the club and how essential he was to our restoration. But my how far he has fallen.

I think Barça may say no, if he isnt sold, he'll probably be needed for the CL qualifications especially without Messi there.

Any game time for Ronnie at the moment is a good thing. Sadly I think he will be off to Milan but in any case any game time for the lad will be a good thing

if he is going to take the olympics a bit seriously, maybe even to aid his price tage and contract amount, we should let him go and use it as a test run. by not selling him before it, we can see how his physical condition is and how he plays, and if he once agains dazzles or at least places very well, we can try convince him to stay. or if he does well but still insists on going, we can make an extra 15 million. or if he is just as terrible as recently, we know for sure he can go. so this could be a uselful test run, depending on how seriously he takes the olympics.

on a side note, im totally against messi going. he is injury prone and i will be PISSED if he picks something up there. its only hte olympics for goodness sake, he no longer belongs in that squad, he is now a full squad star player, so play for argentina when it really matters.

After all criticism that´s been throughn at him (he can´t be blamed for everything) he should be able to play at Beijing to prove his worth, if this is
what he needs for a boost that´s perfect. Since Pep don´t have him in his plans anyways he shouldn´t be missed.

i think it is time to cut the apron strings! ronnie was the greatest but his heart is no longer with barca! i wish him well for beijing and for (it appears) milan but beyond that i have to say i feel some disapointment for what he did (or more importantly did not do!!!) at the club for the last 2 seasons, its very well to say if he gets back to form but we can't afford it anymore! he has to go, both for the club and for himself! i'm sorry but i think it's true!

and although many of you may doubt it, i personally believe arshavin would be a great replacement!! he's spoken of his love for the club already, he's creative, fast and inteligent and i think, personally speaking of course. perfect for fcb! come on barca, up the bid, get the man and let the future roll on!

all the best ronnie! adios!

FCBarcelona have called Ronaldinho to training on the 14th.

Will they let him attend? Surely this would have an impact on deciding if he is to stay or leave.

I persnoally think that barca need to let Ronaldhino go,they have already made it clear that they dont want him in their current squad so let him go and represent his country and return to the top level football that we are use to.Yes he has done so much for the club but right now barca seems to be going downhill after 2 seasons trophyless and i really hope that they allow him to leave.People have been very hard on Ronaldhino this past season and have done so unjustly. For instance, just look on how many matches he has under his belt for the 2007/2008 season, not much.So why the hell are people also blaming him for barca current situation when he was beerly given a chance.I wish that he leaves for either Milan or Chelsea and hope all the best for Barca in the future.
Furthermore, trying to hold on to Messi & Ronaldhino to play champions league qualifers is no excuse as one should always put his country first and then club after. This just shows you the type of club that Barca has become.I wont lie,i WAS a huge Barca fan but now like many others i have almost if not completely given up on Barca.

This year Barca treated Ronnie like a second rate player since Henry's arrival and thats what they got. And Ronnie style is to make his team better and Barca without Ronnie well you guys saw the results. After Messi's misshap he needed his old teammates to regain his form that where Ronnie would have come in. I think great players are FRAGILE they need support FROM FANS, MANAGER, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY FROM THEIR COACH which GIVE THEM their confident enabling them to perform at their highest level. the world saw what Ronnie can do, skills like that dont go away over night. HE NEED TO BE AT A CLUB WHO BELIEVES IN HIM AND WILLING GIVE HIM HIS PLAYING TIME AND A LITTLE FREEDOM TO LIVE HIS LIFE. AND HENRY IS NEVER GOING TO BE BETTER THAN RONNIE NOR ETO, HENRY PLAYS THE FRONT SO HE SCORES BUT YOU PUT HIM IN RONNIE'S POSITION HE WILL CHOKE AGAIN AND ETO PLAYED HALF THE SEOSON ENDED UP WITH ALMOST AS MANY GOALS.

Oh yeah watching Brazil play without Ronnie, Kaka, Cafu, Ronaldo(injured), Robhino is almost like watching a second rate country playing. These guys carry Brazil, and they hold Brazil success in their hands.
