For much of the season the talk has been of the fantastic contribution of Barça's home grown players. Leo Messi is for many people the best player in the world at the present time; Andres Iniesta improves every day and his dribbling skills and defence splitting passes are a joy to watch; while Xavi Hernandez continues to be in excellent form since deservedly winning the best player of Euro 2008 award with Spain. However, Samuel Eto'o is one imported player whose figures this year are spectacular, especially when it comes to playing at Camp Nou.
Eto'o has already bagged twelve goals (nine in La Liga and three in the Champions League) this season in just twelve matches, but what is truly remarkable is that eleven of these goals have been scored in home games. Eto'o began the season with two goals in the 4-0 win over Wisla Krakow, but in the next home game he failed to score in the 1-1 draw with Racing. He scored from the penalty spot in the 3-1 victory over Sporting Lisbon and then grabbed two as Barça beat Betis 3-2. He got two more in the 6-1 thrashing of Atletico Madrid and then added the hat-trick in Saturday's 5-0 win against Almeria.
Six games, eleven goals. If we take into account that Eto'o was substituted in three of those games it is even more impressive. In total he has played 470 minutes at Camp Nou which works out as an average of a goal every 43 minutes. And to think we were trying to sell him this summer!
It is interesting to note that our second top scorer, Leo Messi, has only scored twice at Camp Nou this season (the penalty against Racing and the quick free kick against Atletico) while his other six goals have all come in away games.
Eto'o truley is one of the best strikers in the world (he has the stats to prove it).
I've always loved Eto'o, and i'm really glad that Barca decided to keep him and he's having a great season. Pichichi here Eto'o comes...
Eto is on a phenominal goal run at the minute but we must not turn this team into the Eto and Messi and show. All of Eto's goals at the weekend especially were a product of the team and with his ability finishing them was simple.
For me its his misses that still worry me. Man United last year was the one which pissed me off most. 1 v 1, at the Camp Nou, he scuffs the shot wide with options either side and as a result we dont score all game. Dont get me wrong, his record is scary for the opposition I just hope he doesnt get a big chance in a big game and fluffs it as he is Barca's 1 true CF, so he needs to guide the team to victory.
Otherwise I hope he enjoys his game and I too am impressed by the way all the big ego's at the club are handling the rotation as its working and seems to have kicked started so many players from the crap we saw last year.
love him! what a striker! he isn't much in the air though is he? imagine if he was deadly off set pieces too! wow
I WANT TO KNOW HOW MANY GOAL ETOO HAVE SCORE FOR
BARCELONA IN LIGA SINCE HE WENT ON THE TEAM AND HOW MANY TIME HE HAVE WEAR GOLDEN BOOT

VIVA ETO'O!!!!
I have always been his greatest fan and I am happy to see this post NIC!!! There's no denying that we made the right choice by keeping him. Furthermore, I am glad to see Pep turn him into a better team player (ie-accepting the "rotations" is a great start). If you do not have him on your fantasy team folks...well now is the time.
i wonder where d eto bashers are now
