Very sad this morning as I just found out that Sir Bobby Robson has died at the age of 76 after a long fight against cancer. Sir Bobby had football running through his veins and his love of the game continued to the end. He was coach at Barça for the 96/97 season when he had the unenviable job of replacing Johan Cruyff. Robson had many critics while he was here but his team won the European Cup Winners Cup, the Copa del Rey and the Supercopa de España in his season here and despite finishing second in the league the team scored an impressive 102 league goals that season with Ronaldo leading the attack.
Sir Bobby was a fine player for Fulham and West Bromwich Albion and he represented England on 20 occasions. He managed England from 1982-1990 taking the team to the semi-finals in 1990 losing to Germany on penalties. He also won trophies in his time managing at Ipswich Town, Porto and PSV Eindhoven. He was a great manager but above all a great man. Rest in peace Bobby, you will be fondly remembered by millions.

He personified the term 'Gentleman'. An exceptional human being whose passion and devotion to the true spirit of the game was phenomenal. Thank you for bring Ronaldo to the Nou Camp even if it was for one season.
Sir Bobby was someone who will always be respected by football fans all over the world irrespective of whether they support England or Newcastle.
Truly a knight both on and off the football pitch ....RIP Sir Bobby
PS Is it me or does the name Bobby and English football greats have something in common e.g. Bobby Moore OBE, Sir Bobby Charlton and Sir Bobby Robson...
