While some reports in England have recently suggested that Toure Yaya could be on his way to Arsenal, the player himself made no mention of any such move in an interview for Barça TV. Toure talks about Pep Guardiola and Barça's new signings Seydou Keita and Gerard Pique and his recovery from his back problems. Given the interview was for Barça TV it was of course unlikely that he would talk about leaving and he wasn't asked about the speculation. However, it would seem a bit strange to give such an interview if he was planning to pack his bags. I hope we have the big man for many years to come. Click here for the full interview
That's not a dream. Mark my words Yaya will be a Gooner by the start of the new season! And you can have Hleb, he'll only disappoint you the way Thierry has this season hahahahaha.
And please tell me you didn't just post a link to goal.com??? Like what they say ever has any substance to it???
Thats funny Scooch cos I am pretty sure all the stories linking Yaya to Arsenal have either come from Goal.com, Teamtalk or the Daily Mail, which are as bad if not worse. I live in London and have yet to see a REPUTABLE source for this so called swap deal. Sure he may have said he would love to play with his brother some day but that doesn't mean anything. I also read an article that Kolo would love to play with his brother one day and that he is very unhappy with the situation at Arsenal because they didn't win anything AND because he was not made captain when he feels he deserved it more than Gallas. The article then went on to link him to a switch to Barca because he would love to play with his brother.....
Hey Hilal,
Unfortunately I'm not going to reveal the source of this story (reputable or not), but I will reiterate what I said earlier in that I'm quite sure that Yaya will be an Arsenal player by the start of pre season.
You obviously haven't read any of the stories where Kolo has come out and said that he's very happy at the club. It's easy to read stories with a blinkered view, you know.
And, sorry, I've forgotten, quite how many more things did Barca win this season than we did??? And how much more money did they spend than we did??? Oh yeah!!! Now I remember!!!
@Scooch: Dream on ;-) And trophys aren't anything, Barça is 5 times the club Arsenal is, with all my respect to them, you can't match as regarding history, flair and myth.
Like someone said, I'm pretty sure they want to play together, but why not do that in Barcelona?
I've also got sources (reputable or not) which I can't reveal saying that Ronaldo, Kaka & Benzema are all coming to Barca.
Also, to shore up our defense, Beckenbauer (reputable or not).
Hey Scootch. Some news for you: WE WILL BUY YAYA AND SIGN HELB. Thats one of the beuties of supporting a rich club that can sign paychecks. Unlike Arsene the pedophile.
Hey Scootch. Some news for you: WE WILL KEEP YAYA AND SIGN HELB. Thats one of the beuties of supporting a rich club that can sign paychecks. Unlike Arsene the pedophile.
Ok Scooch, theres no need to get into cheap little arguments about who won what. Neither of our teams won anything last season so neither of us are in a position to say too much. Although if you look at the last 5 years i think you will find that Barca clearly won more.
You seem to be a bit of a hypocrite though. You are telling me i have not read any stories regarding Kolo and how happy he is at Arsenal, when CLEARLY you have the blinders all the way down mate because Yaya has not only stated that he is happy at Barca but he has proved it. He has proved by playing for 2 months through an extremely painful injury, what player would do that if he was just going to leave at the end of the season. He is currently training VERY hard to regain full fitness and he has said over and over again he cannot wait to get back to training with the team again. He has also come out as recently as two days ago and said how excited he was with Keita's signing and how much he is looking forward to playing with him. Does that sound like a player on his way out? Who is reading stories with a blinkered view now then?
As for not revealing the source, clearly either your source is as reputable as goal.com or you have no source whatsoever.......otherwise you would have revealed it!
scooch just piss off man. im so sick of non barca fans coming here and voicing opinions no one wants to here.
about yaya, even if the sources havent been credible its discomforting. hilal, i know u backed jose, and already at inter u can see his experience over pep. he is taking about how he really likes his squad and this and that. pep hasnt done that at all. the barca players seem to be in the dark. if yaya goes, like i said, it would be just ridiculous. and despite scooch being a bit of a tard, hleb really has only scored 4 goals, and that is a joke.
we dont need a midfielder that scores many goals, thats not wut barca is missing....we need som1 hoo can always be a playmaker, not just for a game or two....after ronaldinho's good days, no1 has been able to do that consistently, not even xavi or iniesta.
Blaugranaboy, you are right i was a supporter of Mourinho and I wish we had signed him. That being said he is not our coach so there is no point dwelling on it. Also I am starting to have a lot more faith in Pep; Pique and Keita are two very strong signings and I like the mix of strength and quality he is obviously trying to build. Also he is Barca through and through, he will command respect in everything he does. He is a born leader and he used to lead the team on the pitch like no other, I see no reason why he cannot do it off the pitch. What we lacked last season was simple; heart, desire and passion....these are all things that Pep has in spades! Now he may not be as experienced as Mourinho, but hey, lets try and look at the positives because he needs everybodys support right now. Also he is not one to be pushed around, not by the board, not by the president and definitely not by any of the players. He might even be able to restore Ronnie to something resembling what he used to be (if we keep him).
Regarding Hleb, personally i think he is a lot better than most ppl think. No he does not score goals, but we do not need a goalscorer, we need what Ronnie and Deco used to do, pin point passes that no defender can predict. Now that is something Hleb can definitely do! We have goalscorers, Messi, Henry, Eto'o, Bojan.....all proven goalscorers. The problem last season was not that we had 20 chances a game and couldnt score, the problem was that we had no chances. The ball was not getting to the strikers. They always had to drop deep, pick up the ball and try to get past defenders into the box. There were no defence slicing through balls to the feet of the strikers. Ronnie and Deco used to provide that, Iniesta can do it sometimes but its not his best attribute. Hleb is probably one of Arsenals best passers after Fabs and that is saying a lot. He is a good signing, although i do think 20mil is too much.
Xavi, Keita and Yaya can all score goals from the midfield so I do see that being too big of an issue. Diego or VDV would have been nice, but I can see what Pep wants to do, he wants to build a team of hungry determined players who will give 150% every game. The signings so far are all players that would do that, Diego and VDV maybe not so much.
P.S Its official we just signed Caceres. Now this is a signing i am not too sure about, so far i have heard good things and the fact that Real were after him as well is a good sign. I have never seen him play though......any of you guys know anything about him.....is he worth close to 20 million euros?
hey hilal, u misinterpreted me a bit man. i have been one of the stonger supporters of pep since the beginning if u read old blogs, i use to love him as a player. but i was just commenting on that point of jose. he is more experienced and seems to be making his team feel comfortable. pep hasnt done that which worries me. i agree keita and pique are excellent signings its just the rumors since then that have got me nervous. like losing yaya. also signing sergio garcia, trezequet, inzagahi. just a whole bunch of fools to be honest. and i also dont like how either him or the board are pulling the trigger on some signigns earlier. alves for one.
about hleb ur in london so u prob watch him often as i do. i watch most arnseal, united, liverpool etc matches. his skills are smooth and he does some thing that only he can do, like his strange momvement and dribbling. but he doesnt score at all and he often is ineffective. im not his biggset fan and i think he is overpriced. van der vaart and diego like u and i have been saying are much better and they would be just as commited if not more. hleb is injury prone too.
and caceres. i havent seen him at all not even once. but frankly the price we paid is ridiculous. why 20 mil for a back up defender in essence??? madness. im sick of clubs over charging. but that is again all madrid's fault againt for last yr when they paid 30 for pepe and 20 for metzelder.
blaugranaboy, sorry i did misunderstand you a little. With regards to the rumors that are worrying you they are just rumors so I wouldnt worry too much. The Yaya rumor is a British press thing and they tend to push rumors that benefit the British teams. All the links with the strikers you mentioned as well are flimsy at best. We have been linked with almost every half decent striker on the planet. I have read seperately that Trezerguet, Inzaghi and Benzema are all Peps first option, well he cannot have 3 first options. Then there's Drogba, Ibra, Palacio, Cruz, Adebayour, Sergio Garcia, Guiza, etc That is assuming that Eto'o does actually leave which is still far from certain. We can only base our opinions on the signings he has already made, which are all good so far. We dont really know what he has or has not said to players either, we only know what the misinformed press feed us. We know he has spoken to Henry in order to reassure him and I have also read that he spoke to Ronnie to determine his frame of mind. Most players are away on international duty now anyways so he wouldnt have had time to talk to all the players considering he only officially took the job a few weeks ago after finishing with the B team.
I agree with you that we should have sealed the Alves deal by now but that is Sevillas fault. What they are asking for a RB is a ridiculous sum of money and Laporta would be idiotic to simply pay it. I hope we get him in the end, but if we dont its not the end of the world. We already have a good enough team as it is. Last season was not a failure because of a lack of talent but because of a lack of leadership and motivation. Say what you will about our defenders but every single one of them starts for their national sides and they are all considered world class individually. Again it was a managerial problem to do with organisation and training. Hopefully Pep will be better at these things.
ur def right about the problems mainly being the training and that but we need a right back for sure. that has to be signed. he should maybe look into burdisso from inter because maicon has that place nailed down over there. otherwise i cant think of anyone really. i read abotu mancini from roma but that also must be garbage, he cant be converted back into a right back.
but yeah i like ur optimism and hopefully hte rumors are just rumors. i still get worried when i read the gossip though. lets hope it all goes well in the market.
wooow selll gio at 11 and buy a defender older for 16.5 thats sick
yet Arsenal didn`t won any silverware in the last season.. they just talk nonsense in the mid of the last season when promise to be EPL champion to everyone.
i still remember the time cesc promise to the Arsenal fans about winning the titile, but in the end? just secure the 3rd place! Ashame on the promisers!

he seems like such a commited player. letting him go would be simply put moronic. i pray guardiola knows that too, because as ive mentioned the entire barca situation right now makes me nervous
Yaya will come to us. He's publically stated he'd love to play with Kolo and you guys want Hleb (altho he has great feet he really NEVER shoots and I mean NEVER!!! 4 goals in over 100 games for us. He's one of the most infuriating players I've ever watched). Give us Yaya and £5m and I'll have a word with Arsene ;)
