Toure Signs Until 2012

Saturday, 27 June 09, 02:25 AM · Comments (15)

Toure Yaya in action against Chelsea

Excellent news this morning. As expected Toure Yaya reached an agreement with the club to extend his contract until 2012. Toure, who is 26, will see a rise in his pay although the details of this were not given. His release clause has gone up from €60 million to €100 million euros. Toure definitely deserves the improvement in his contract, having been one of the team's most consistant performers since joining the club in 2007.

He is a genuine World-Class player who does everything he is asked without question.

It is a discrace Barca made him wait this long. But its done now. Well done Yaya, enjoy the extension, you deserve it 8)

Toure is the bomb. Great work ethic since he has been here. This guy cleans up amazingly in midfield, in some games he stands out so prominently on the field. I enjoy watching him in that position.

ESPNsoccernet this morning is saying something of barca close to signing kierrison?
Anyone heard of this guy?

hey guys. i wanted to know how everybody is feeling about the ETO'O transfer saga. all this negative press is disturbing me. for the past seasons he has been the among the top three most consistent in spain and europe. i ask myslef what is the barca board really thinking; letting the best striker go. henry is 31 plus years old. he is the one who needs replacement . ribery, zhirkov, silva are all very good options. henry has won all the accolades of a european footballer so benching should not piss him off as he has a goog salary contract. eto' should stay. i am not saying this because we share the same nationality but because he knows how to mind-communicate with messi, xavi and iniesta ans soon alves. among all attackers, he is the best defender(remember his roles in the two champions league finals). replacing him in a time when we have overseas competitions next season is just dumb. in africa, we see eto'o as the next george weah. can the decision room give me five, even three solid reasons why eto'o should leave fc barca. all these names that people are claiming that will replace eto'o is just crap or they suddenly anti-eto'o fans mad because he was not pichichi? come on guys, close your eyes and imagine a new number 9. it is difficult. it was obvious that messi would takethe number 10 shirt. we don't need a name other than ETO'O on the number9 jersey. on more thing: can the blogger tell laporta to buy MOUTINHO from sporting lisbon. he is 1/3 xavi, 1/3 yaya and 1/3 iniesta. look for his videos or try to dig up sporting lisbon matches and you'll see what i'm talking about. if this team does not what to buy a new left back, i would assume that milito and abidal will be rotating while puyol and alves do the same on the right. so for the center we have pique, marquez, puyol, milito and the new guy henrique which is not bad.
peace out.

OZone.

Yes, I agree the Eto situation is completely ridiculous. Constantly a goal scorer for Barca, he is World Class and is a great striker.

HOWEVER, it seems from the press and Laporta, that Eto has a choice to make. He will earn the most money in the world with Man City if he joins. If he leaves he will forever be remembered as a traitor and a fool who wasted the best years of his career in a pussy club in the bottom end of the Premiership.

Im sorry guys. Eto would earn more money in Barca then 95% of footballers on the planet and 99% of people in the world. He would earn at Barca what half of his country probably earns (no offense). Kaka had the same choice in January and chose his loyalty despite Man City offering him 2x his wages.

I hope Eto stays. Barca need him for the system and he has 5 years at the top left if he looks after himself. If he doesnt, I will be bitterly dissapointed as he will leave only for greed. But again, my gut instinct is he will stay and have another great season with Barca!!

As for Kerrison, I think he is a good signing for us. Undoubtedly, he will cover for Eto in the African CON in December. That will give him 6 months to adapt to life at the Camp Nou and be taught by Henry, Eto and Messi... 8O Lucky man!! =D

There will be a news conference tomorrow about what Eto'o is going to do .

There are three possibilities :

1- He signs a new contract .
2- He declines to sign a new contract but decides to stay for one more year .
3- He announces that he will leave to Manchester City .

I think either option #1 or option #3 would be fine with me .

It would be nice if he was offered an extension for 2-3 years .

If Eto'o decides to go for the money and signs for MC I can't blame him either .

He has done a lot for the club and was a key player in winning 3 La Liga titles and 2 CL titles .

Some fans may brand him as a " traitor " as Titi186 pointed out but football is a business and you can't fault Eto'o if he tried to secure the best possible deal and likely his last contract as a football player .
I would be disappointed if he did but NOT bitter .

No one can question Eto'o dedication and hard work . However he can be SELFISH , EGOTISTICAL and a LOOSE CANNON .

I'm sure he still remembers the events at the end of last season where Guardiola announced that Eto'o was NOT in his pland and he could leave if he wanted to .

And what did Eto'o do ?
He decided to stay . Was his decision based on professionalism and common sense or he only wanted to PISS Guardiola and the club off ?

Tomorrow may present Eto'o with the perfect opportunity to " get back " at Guardiola and the club by refusing to sign a new contract and choosing to fulfill his contract .

If this WORSE-CASE SCENARIO takes place Barça would get screwed big time and get NOTHING as compensation instead of about 30 million if Eto'o deceded to sign with another club (ie:MC ) .

Eto'o has to decide what to do :

1- Be a professional and a class act and either sign an extension or agree to a transfer .

2- Let bitterness get the best of him and stick it to the club once again .

If Eto'o decides to be a vindictive ass , the coach could just let him sit on the bench or even relegate him to Barça B !!

All things considered Eto'o has a huge decision to make.

He can be a true PROFESSIONAL and signs an extension to his contract .

He can be VINDICTIVE and refuses to sign .

He lets GREED be the major factor and signs with Manchester City , a club to which a qualification for the Europa Cup would be the ultimate achievement next season .

I have no idea what Eto'o decides to do .

He is such a complex character !!

@ FCB-Holland,

I do not brand Eto a traitor yet. But for me, Eto came from a slum in a 3rd World country so if he moves just for money then I think it would be an extreme example of personal greed which for me is something that is unforgivable.

Saying that, he is a wonderful player and is the exact thing Barca need for another season at least. It looks like he will stay and hopefully sign another contract with Barca as he deserves it.

Lets hope this doesnt become a farce as Eto is, like you said, a loose cannon and who knows what rabbit he will pull out of his hat.

@ titi186 ,

There is no question that Eto'o is a very good player BUT I don't consider him to be a great one though .
Great players can create their own chances . Besides he wastes too many easy opportunities .

I doubt it very much if he would be able to score 36 goals without the help of players like Messi , Iniesta and Xavi and at times Henry .

Let's just wait and see what happens tomorrow .

I will NOT be surprised at all if Eto'o decides to make the worst decision possible , as far as the club and the fans are concerned : to see his contract out and decline to sign an extension !!

As of Ozone said "all these names that people are claiming that will replace eto'o is just crap or they suddenly anti-eto'o fans mad because he was not pichichi?"

well strongly believe Villa is far far far better than Eto AT THE MOMENT. i will not spend time on arguing this. But i want eto because he did a lot for barca so he deserves some honour. We just can not kick him out because we got villa(if so). Ya that is the one and only reason i want Eto to stay.

If Eto decides to refuse to sign the new two year deal , that would be the worst idea. He might then be benched and its a common thing and i think he knows it better. In that sense i would say its like a trap for him where he is actually forced to leave. Because this new deal neither offer him long term contract nor salary increase. And barca just make offer this new deal to try to sell him next season again. In that sense i would not surprise if he leaves for Man City and honestly that will not be a sign of greediness as some of u mentioned.I have to admit now that barca could treat him better.
