I think it has to be Messi for all the important goals he scored. iniesta and Xavi were also great

MESSI for me for sure.

I'm really torn on this. Part of me goes for Iniesta, and the other for Messi.

Messi was our savior earlier in the season, providing us with multiple goals which gave us the three points.

But in the second half, Iniesta was brilliant, an unstoppable force. I would not be shocked if the world player of the years goes like this...

Xavi
Gerrard

it has to be messi..... i dont care if iniesta was amazing the last half of the year ...he also had more rest...

I am torn, how do you make such a tough choice? On the one hand i want to say Messi because he is without a doubt our most spectacular player, but then Iniesta has been so vital, at the most crucial moments, in the most crucial games.....and Xavi, our little maestro, can anybody say that we would be where we are today without him? Its just so hard to decide which of these 3 incredible players has been the best. I guess its a matter of preference in the end, what type of player does each of us enjoy the most? I have to go with Iniesta, for me he is our most influential player. Also he seems to be a crossbreed between Xavi and Messi, he does what we love so much about both those players, maybe not as well (not yet anyways) but he can see that killer pass like Xavi and he can take on 3 defenders like Messi.

We should feel really lucky guys, that we have these 3 players all playing together, it is quite incredible. You dont find many players like these. To have all 3 in the same team, from the same generation, well it is quite remarkable really.

2nd is very deabteable, Xavi, Toure, Iniesta come close, Henry, Eto and Pique have a case.

Still though, Messi wins 8 days of the week.

Messi was by far the best player for Barca this season, and the only player ho even comes relatively close is Eto'o.

For a team that is grounded on playing together selflessly in a style that requires significant rapport among the squad, I find picking one player very difficult (as well as flawed, but that's another subject, no?). I picked Xavi and here's why:

1. He, along with Iniesta, is the glue that binds the squad. Without someone like Xavi (and Iniesta), Barça would have a difficult time with their possession passing game.

2. He provided the most assists on the squad at twenty. Messi was a distant second with eleven.

3. He lost the ball maybe 4 times all season.

4. He was a constant on the roster, seeing very little time on the bench.

Iniesta would be up there with Xavi, in my book, but for his injuries. A somewhat different method to his genius than Xavi's, Andres really shone as this season wound down, precisely when he was needed most. A serious clutch player.

What did you guess think about Egypt Vs Brazil today guys ! I'm Egyptian, I was very Proud of my team !

@ Joe Henry...congrats on the performance, egypt deserved to win. I wanted them to win but I was also hoping dani alves would score I thought they played really well especially in the 2nd half, zidan is amazing! from what i saw today, i think egypt and brazil should both qualify from that group. i dont think italy and the u.s. are that strong. if egypt plays like they did against brazil, they should be able to beat both italy and the u.s.

Xavi!!!! I couldn't say it any better than Pequito. Iniesta and Messi are amazing...but Xavi is the heart and soul of Barca! Essentially, Barca's playing style is...Xavi.

NO doubt, it's Messi...INiesta was amazing for the final quarter of the season, but Messi was just outta the world for the first 3 quarters...If it wasn't for Messi's heroics, we woulda lost many games...so, I'd def. go for Messi...

@FCBarca88. Thank you Friend. I think Egypt deserved at least a point out of this game.But to me really this is a win mentally. Every Egyptian fan expected a HUGE lose just like Spain. If you didn't watch the game it was like Spain could have scored 100-0. Egypt Played like they wanted to win the game. I'm proud of that. PS: I wanted Daniel to score to I wanted to be 2-3 Daniel to have scored one of them. If we have to conceive goals I rather it would be a Barca Player. After all We are all Barca Fans Forca Barca !!

XAVI HERNANDEZ- imagine what would barca be without him in the center mid.?? i just can't imagine.. but messi scored win goals..and keita able to replace iniesta-maybe hes not as good as iniesta. For me xavi is the best, XAVI-the heart and soul for Barca..

I'm throwing a coin here to decide between Messi and Iniesta.. having to choose one player in this wonderful season is unfair!. I think i might stick with Messi as well, altough iniesta would come in a very close 2nd place.
BTW, i also saw Egypt and were impressed. They were so fast and talented!! are they always like this? i mean, i ask since i don't have too many chances to see them play.

Great analogy !!

I can only add that where Messi's style of attack comes in the form of a " horizontal " meandering and zigzaging his way while leaving defenders by the twos and the threes biting the dust in his wake while trying to catch up with him when it is usually too late .

Iniesta , on the other hand , is just as fearless of an attacker but he does it in a " vertical " and straight forward manner inviting the defenders to try to stop him from making that " killer pass . "

Both Messi and Iniesta rarely lose possesion without the opponents using some " agricultural " methods of tackling , as the some British commentators politely and sarcastically refer to that sort of rough and sometimes dirty defending .

As Hilal pointed out , Iniesta can do almost everything that Messi can do but slightly not as well . He can only make great passes but slighly not as well as Xavi .

So in Iniesta we have a player who combines the best traits of the best players in the world in their positions ( if not the best outright ) which is NOT bad at all .

Despite all the outrageous spending by Real Madrid they STILL don't have players who can compare with Messi , Xavi and Iniesta !!

But my vote is for Dani Alves because all true Barca fans knew that when they signed him last year he was the player that could make Messi shine.

People would talk a lot more about him if this hadn't been the same year that Iniesta shows the world the he is a top five candidate.

hey does anybody know why barca are acting this way, I mean they are unsettling some perfectly good players by playing hardball over contracts. Players like Yaya Toure (aka. best DM in the world) deserve to be richly rewarded. same is the case with eto; valdes is not great, but he has been with barca all his life, and deserves some respect I think.

Mes_que_un_fan---- i respect ur choice of slection but isn't the reason of ur choice sounds a bit weird?? it sounds like someone is best becz he helped other one to be best.anyway....In the legendary career(all we expect)of messi there will be many players who will help him to shine. It was Barca in very first step who helped him with money for medicine, it was ronaldinho who taught him a lot(he still admits that), all in the current squad helped him so far by best. This has to be because football is a team game and barca has the best teamwork no doubt. But other than this there are rooms to judge everyone individually.Do u believe alves helped messi more than xavi? certainly not.there is one way to be best by helping others.that is goal assistance. In that case xavi has way better assistance record than alves.

I don't think my choice sounds weird at all. The first statement I made was that Messi had the best season in the world. Nobody can compare to him. Coming in agains Racing when we're down and winning for us is just one of the reasons why he is our best player.

But Messi has never had a season like this before even though he has played with Iniesta, Xavi, Eto'o and Henry before.

It was the combination up the right side with Dani Alves that made him what he is. It was like Deco with Dinho or even Messi, Dani Alves made Messi a better player this year and vice versa. Because only in Madrid and there on did Messi start dropping back in the mid field.

By The Way the fact that we can argue over so many players as our best is probably the greatest problem to have.

did you read the title it says "vote for barcas PLAYER OF THE SEASON"......no t player of one game....if you were doing that it could also be bojan against almeria where he had 2 goals...

do you really think valdes should be player of the season???....the player of the c.l. semi finals definitely but not in any shape or form the player of the season....
