It's taken me longer than expected but finally I bring you the Fcbnews Player by Player Review of the Season. For each player there is a brief resumé followed by the statistics for La Liga, Champions League, Copa del Rey and overall figures. There is also a player rating taken as an average for their ratings in every game this season. I would say that anything above 6.5 is an excellent score. It is interesting to see that three of the most argued-about players, Abidal, Eto'o and Valdés all achieved the same score of 6.55 for the season. You can make your own conclusions, here's the review:
Victor Valdes: Another good season from...

I have to admit I felt like never writing again so I could leave the match report at the top of the page for ever. However, life goes on and there is so much more to say about the season. Over the next week or two you will get a review of the season in full and of course we will have to talk about all the possible transfers and who we should sell. For today I'll just offer you a few of my favourite photos from Wednesday night. The one above is my favourite of all, as it shows both the happiness of the moment but also the bond between the players and Pep Guardiola. Before the game I caused a fair bit of controversy by stating that I believed Guardiola to be a better coach than Sir Alex Ferguson. Manchester United fans were particularly hard on me for this and threw Ferguson's...

This was quite simply the best. This was better than beating Sampdoria 1-0 at Wembley in 1992. This was better than beating Arsenal three years ago in Paris. This was beating the current champions, the team that have won the English Premier League for the last three seasons. This was beating the great Manchester United, not with a late winner like against Sampdoria and Arsenal, but by two clear goals, a fantastic display that left the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo so frustrated that he had to...

I've not done this before but I thought it would be a good idea to have a match thread for tonight's big game. With just under two and a half hours to go until kick off this is now the place to send your comments in the build up to the game, during the game and after the final whistle until I get the match report up.

After the success the semi-final debate with Chelsea, I was again delighted when Guillem Balague of Sky Sports invited me to take part in a debate with a Man United blog. Guillem also runs an excellent blog on Spanish football. Here's how the debate went:
Guillem: So, let’s kick off with a straightforward question for FCB NEWS. It all looks pretty even: who is the better team?
FCB...

Football Club Barcelona face the biggest test of a magnificent season tomorrow night in Rome against current Champions League holders Manchester United. A win for Barça will not just mean a third European Cup to add to our wins in London 1992 and Paris 2006, it will be the crowning glory to a record breaking season and will complete a historic treble, the first ever by a Spanish team.
Thierry Henry and Andres Iniesta have both travelled with the...

On Wednesday night in Rome Football Club Barcelona and Manchester United will go head-to-head to see who is the best team in Europe. For the first time that I can remember for a final practically every bookmaker you care to look at has the odds for the two teams exactly the same. United are the current European champions and have won the English Premier League for the last three seasons while Pep Guardiola has taken Barça to a league and cup double in his first season while breaking goalscoring records along the way. United are the more pragmatic team but with...

Next Wednesday night in Rome Football Club Barcelona have the opportunity of joining a unique club of teams. In the history of the game only four teams have ever completed the feat of winning domestic league, domestic cup and the European Cup in one season. Glasgow Celtic were the first team to achieve this in the 1966/7 season, Ajax followed in 1971/2, then came PSV Eindhoven in 1987/8 and the last team to do so were Manchester United in 1998/9.
Without wanting to take anything away from the first three, it could be said that they all won the European Cup when it was a straight knock-out competition and therefore perhaps depended slightly more on luck. At the same time the first three all play in one of...

A bit late with this one but it wasn't announced till last night and I've been busy. Anyway the LFP have announced the kick off times for this weekend and Barça's game at home to Osasuna has been set for 9pm on Saturday. This will give us one day more to prepare for the Champions League final than our rivals Manchester United who play at Hull on Sunday afternoon. However, as neither team is likely to use many of the players who will feature in Rome it doesn't really make much difference. Nevertheless, any small advantage that can play in our favour is more than welcome.

Andres Iniesta is confident that the injury to his quadriceps muscle in his right thigh will not keep him out of the Uefa Champions League Final against Manchester United on May 27 in Rome. Iniesta, who is 25 today, underwent tests this morning that revealed that the tear in his right thigh is small. In February Iniesta suffered a similar injury which kept him out of action for two weeks, while in November he suffered a more serious tear in his right thigh which left him on the sidelines for two months. Saint Andres of Stamford Bridge is vital to our plans to beat United, let's hope that both he and Thierry Henry make it in time.
