After yesterday's presentation of Seydou Keita today was the turn of Uruguayan defender Martin Caceres who declared "I come with all the hope and ambition in the world. I am going to give everything for this shirt. Caceres has signed for four years and I have very high hopes for him.

The Spanish papers are full of the story today that Barça have made an offer for Arsenal's Emmanuel Adebayor. The Spanish press give different reports on the amount that Barça may or may not have offered ranging from €25-30 million. It seems the source of the story comes from the British newspaper the Daily Mail (link to story).
The Spanish press also claim that if Adebayor is not possible next on the list of priorities are Dimitar Berbatov and Mario Gomez. I have to say that Adebayor does not excite me much; he may have had one very good season at Arsenal, but I think he would be a big risk. He is very strong and is good in the air but his control is not great ...

Brazilian right back Dani Alves has today confirmed that his move to Barça for four years has been sealed. Despite all the talk these last few days the transfer has still not been officially announced by either club. Alves who is currently in Brazil preparing for World Cup qualifying matches against Paraguay and Argentina, announced he will travel to Barcelona at the start of July to make the official signing. This could well go down as the signing that has been announced the most times ever before it officially happens.

While all the talk is about the arrival of right back Dani Alves, Sylvinho Mendes has signed for another season to compete for the left back position. Sylvinho is 34 years old but he did enough in the second half of the season to prove he can still do a good job. Meanwhile, there seems to be total agreement with Sevilla for Alves and the transfer should be made official on Monday.

Barça have announced this lunchtime that as expected Giovani dos Santos has signed for Tottenham Hotspur for the next five seasons. A fee of €6 million has been agreed with a possible furthur €5 million to be paid in accordance with the number of games the Mexican plays.
It seems Spurs have got a bargain here. I've said before that Giovani is worth a fair bit more than the price paid. However, it also seems that Giovani and his agent have constantly been asking Barça for too much, and Barça are right to let players go if they don't want to stay. Giovani was also supposed to be upset by the boos directed at him at Camp Nou at times this season, and I have to say our own fans are often our own worst enemies. This season it seems that we may also lose Samuel Eto'o thanks to these so-called ...

Due to being out all day yesterday I was unable to bring you the latest news. First, in case you haven't seen it, here is a link to Xavi's fantastic goal for Spain against the USA on Wednesday, and also you can see Messi's goal in Argentina's 4-1 win over Mexico. Of the transfer stories the big news is that Barça seem to have come to an agreement with Sevilla for the signing of Dani Alves.
Txiki Begiristain and Marc Ingla travelled to Sevilla yesterday to negotiate face-to-face with Sevilla's president Del Nido, and reports say that they have agreed an initial fee of €32 million with an extra €3 million to be paid for games played and trophies won, etc. If...

As most of you will already know Barça and Villarreal have confirmed the transfer of Uruguayan defender Martin Caceres to Barça for four years. A big wad of cash (€16.5 million) goes to Villarreal for the 21-year-old player. From what I can gather Caceres has excellent potential but still needs a bit of polishing to turn him into a great defender. Apparently he has a very good attitude so hopefully he will make the grade. I'm a little bit concerned by his lack of height (1M 79) but if he is as good as some are saying he should be worth every penny.

While some reports in England have recently suggested that Toure Yaya could be on his way to Arsenal, the player himself made no mention of any such move in an interview for Barça TV. Toure talks about Pep Guardiola and Barça's new signings Seydou Keita and Gerard Pique and his recovery from his back problems. Given the interview was for Barça TV it was of course unlikely that he would talk about leaving and he wasn't asked about the speculation. However, it would seem a bit strange to give such an interview if he was planning to pack his bags. I hope we have the big man for many years to come. Click here for the full interview

Reports saying that Manchester City are prepared to offer Ronaldinho an incredible two hundred thousand pounds a week bring up a very interesting question of whether Ronnie is more interested in money or the beach. I have to say I can't imagine him wanting to go to Manchester which is famous for its rain, and I always remember a quote from Ronnie a few years ago when a team was trying to tempt him away with big money, he said "Here, I don't suffer from hunger" which would suggest that money is not everything to him.
Manchester City's chairman, the ex-prime minister of Thailand, Thaksin Sinawatra, is obviously a nutter to want to pay so much, and for Barça it would be great for someone to take the player off our hands. It seems that we could have a lot of problems offloading the unwanted this sum...
