Barça And Milan Agree Terms For Ronaldinho

Tuesday, 15 July 08, 11:56 PM

At just past 11p.m. tonight Joan Laporta and AC Milan's vice-president Adriano Galliano announced they had reached an agreement for the sale of Ronaldinho Gaucho. Ronaldinho will travel to Milan in the morning to pass a medical and he will then be presented as a Milan player. The fee is said to be €21 million + €4 million for various objectives. This brings to the end the Barça career of one of the greatest players, if not the greatest ever to grace Camp Nou.

From his home debut against Sevilla in Semptember in 2003 when he scored one of the greatest goals I've ever seen, Ronnie thrilled fans with his shimmies and flicks. He was responsible for bringing Barça out of the doldrums of the Gaspart era which reached its crescendo in Paris when Barça beat Arsenal to win their second Europea...

Milan Move In For Ronaldinho

Monday, 14 July 08, 07:27 PM

Ronaldinho's brother and agent, Roberto de Assis, met representatives of AC Milan this afternoon in Barcelona's Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I. After the meeting De Assis travelled the short distance to Camp Nou for a meeting with Txiki Begiristain, Pep Guardiola and Barça's new director of football, Raul Sanllehi, to communicate Milan's offer. Ronaldinho was also present at this meeting.

According to reports Barça have given Ronaldinho 72 hours to decide on his future. If he doesn't sign for Milan or Manchester City in this time he will then start training with Barça under Pep Guardiola. All indications, however, are that Ronnie's days as a Barça player are coming to an end.

More Indiscipline From Ronaldinho

Saturday, 12 July 08, 11:51 AM

Ronaldinho has decided that he will not be in Barcelona on Monday when the first team players are supposed to undergo a medical and fitness test. Instead he is staying in Brazil to prepare for the Olympic games despite the fact that Barça have refused to give him permission. This will probably lead to the club imposing a fine on the player.

While I can understand Ronaldinho's desire to play in the olympics and I can also understand that as Pep Guardiola has declared that he does not include the Brazilian in his plans Ronaldinho may feel there is no point in turning up on Monday. However, Ronaldinho is still a Barça player and he is still being paid an enormous amount of money by the club. He needs to realise this and get his arse on a plane to Barcelona. Unfortunately the player seems to not...

Ronaldinho Picked For The Olympics

Tuesday, 08 July 08, 06:11 AM

Ronaldinho has been named in Brazil's list of 18 for this summer's Olympic Games in Beijing. The Brazilian football federation has expressed its intention of including him in their Olympic squad but unlike the case of Leo Messi, FC Barcelona will have the last word on whether the player goes or not. In Messi's case Barça have few options of stopping him going, whereas with Ronaldinho the situation is different as the player is one of the three over-23 players chosen, and in these cases the final decisions rests in the hands of the player's club. Brazil will now have to wait to hear whether Barça give the player permission or not. So, should Barça let Ronaldinho go? Or will we sell him soon anyway and leave the decision with his new club?

Will Ronaldinho Take Manchester City's Money?

Tuesday, 03 June 08, 05:49 PM

Reports saying that Manchester City are prepared to offer Ronaldinho an incredible two hundred thousand pounds a week bring up a very interesting question of whether Ronnie is more interested in money or the beach. I have to say I can't imagine him wanting to go to Manchester which is famous for its rain, and I always remember a quote from Ronnie a few years ago when a team was trying to tempt him away with big money, he said "Here, I don't suffer from hunger" which would suggest that money is not everything to him.

Manchester City's chairman, the ex-prime minister of Thailand, Thaksin Sinawatra, is obviously a nutter to want to pay so much, and for Barça it would be great for someone to take the player off our hands. It seems that we could have a lot of problems offloading the unwanted this sum...

Ronaldinho Working Hard To Get Fit

Saturday, 03 May 08, 12:33 AM

The rumours have been around for ages but nobody until now has gone into such detail about Ronaldinho's exploits as Daniel Garcia Marco who writes for the press agency DPA. According to Garcia Marco on Monday night, the night before Barça played Manchester, Ronaldinho was out until after 5am at the "Sandunguita" night club near Castelldefels. He was drinking beer and dancing with friends and admirers.

While players should be allowed to occasionally let their hair down this is obviously not the best way to get over a leg injury. Ronnie was supposedly hoping to get fit for a possible Champions League final, but it seems he has other things on his mind.

Barça And Milan Fail To Agree Price For Ronaldinho

Tuesday, 22 April 08, 03:58 AM

Barça and Milan are a long way from agreeing to a transfer fee for Ronaldinho. Reports say that Barça are asking for €50million for Ronnie and Zambrotta who would be included in the deal, while Milan say they are only prepared to pay €20million for the pair. It looks like it could be a long summer of negotiations, and it just goes to show you can't believe a politician. Last week Silvio Berlusconi was telling everyone the deal was as good as done.

Ronaldinho To Milan For €30Million

Friday, 11 April 08, 05:46 PM

According to both major Catalan sports papers Ronaldinho's transfer to AC Milan is as good as done. Txiki Begiristain met Ernesto Bronzetti, acting for Milan, yesterday to discuss a transfer fee which is supposedly in the region of thirty million euros. Later Bronzetti met Ronaldinho's brother, Roberto de Assis, to discuss personal terms, and in the evening De Assis was flown in Silvio Berlosconi's personal jet to have dinner with Milan administrator Adriano Galliano.

Thirty million is more than was first expected in Barcelona but it seems that Berlosconi is desperate to make the move official as quickly as possible because on Sunday he is standing in the Italian presidential elections. For Barcelona it has been a love affair that had to come to an end, three very happy years followed by a slow dec...

Ronaldinho To Manchester City?

Monday, 07 April 08, 06:50 PM

According to today's Guardian Ronaldinho's brother and agent Roberto de Assis was seen at Manchester City's ground before Saturday's game with Chelsea. He is supposedly negotiating a possible transfer of Ronaldinho to the English club. The report says that City's owner Thai millionaire Thaksin Shinawatra would be more than happy to pay Ronaldinho wages of over €125,000 a week.

This is not the first time Ronaldinho's brother has been said to be negotiating a move. Last August he reportedly met Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, and just last week he was photographed in Milan with representatives of AC Milan. Whatever the case, it looks like we are nearing the end of Ronaldinho's era at Barça. This could turn out to be the best thing for both club and player as continuing reports about the pl...

Ronaldinho Misses Training Again

Friday, 04 April 08, 07:15 PM

Ronaldinho did not train today due to him feeling more discomfort in his adductor muscle. The chances of him playing on Sunday are now very slim. Deco who limped out of yesterday's session, today followed a specific recovery plan but is also doubtful. Gabi Milito also trained apart from his team mates due to a minor injury problem.
