A magnificent second half display from the Spanish team blew away Russia by three goals to nil and Spain must now be fancied to beat Germany in Sunday's final. Barça's Xavi Hernandez put Spain on the road to victory when he met Iniesta's cross to side foot the ball under the Russian keeper.
In the first half the Spanish defence led by a superb Carles Puyol kept Pavlyuchenko and Barça target Andrei Arshavin pretty quiet, and when Pavlyuchenko did get a shot in Casillas brilliantly got his fingertips to the ball to turn it round the post. Spain had to reorganise after David Villa was forced to come off injured in the 34th minute, but the readjustment worked well for Spain with Cesc Fabregas coming on to play a free role in midfield behind Fernando Torres.
Spain got the breakthrough five mi...

The president of the electoral table for the vote of no confidence, David Moner, today presented the voting paper with the question formula for the members to vote. The official Barça page hasn't translated them yet so here is my translation:
Yes to the vote of no confidence presented by the members Oriol Giralt and Christian Castellvi against the board of directors. This affirmative vote would mean the cessation of the entire board of directors which would lead to new presidential elections being held.
No to the vote of no confidence presented by the members Oriol Giralt and Christian Castellvi against the board of directors. this negative vote would mean the continuation of the board of directors until the conclusion of its mandate.
Tomorrow Sandro Rossell is expected to give a ...

According to El Equipe Lilian Thuram has signed for one season with Paris Saint Germain. The 36-year-old defender played for two years at Barça and never reached the levels he had shown earlier in his career, mainly due to losing his pace. However, he didn't do a bad job here, and it should also be said that he seemed like an authentically decent bloke. I wish him all the best.

Germany reached the final of Euro 2008 with a thrilling last minute 3-2 victory over Turkey. It must be said that Turkey were the better side on the night and with the last minute goal it could be said that they got a very unpleasant taste of their own medicine. It was also extremely unfortunate the TV coverage of a game that will be remembered for years was interrupted due to technical problems (i.e. it was raining).
right from the off Turkey took control of the game and after just 8 minutes a mistake from Lahm let in Altintop but Lehmann saved. Then a few minutes later Kazim Kazim smashed a shot against the German crossbar. A goal looked on the cards and it came just past twenty minutes when Kazim again hit the German bar, this time with a mishit looping effort, and Ugur Boral hit the ball somewh...

This lunchtime Barça officially presented the team's uniform for next season. The first strip is reminiscent of the one used in the centenary year 1999. So, what do you people think of it? Are you going to rush straight out to spend your hard earned cash on an overpriced shirt that will be out of date in a year? Which players name will you want? Can you picture what Carles Puyol will look like lifting the Champions League trophy in May? Send your comments.

In an interview on the official Euro 2008 website Russian star Andrei Arshavin admits he has always supported Barça. "I have supported [FC] Barcelona all my life. Barcelona are my dream. I never thought I would have a genuine chance to play for the club. Let's see how the situation unfolds. For now I can't say anything for sure. At the moment I'm a player of team Russia and I'm only thinking about doing well in the semi-finals." Click here to read the complete Arshavin interview.

It was a good weekend for two of Barça's African players. On Saturday Samuel Eto'o scored both goals including a last minute winner in Cameroon's 2-1 victory over Tanzania, while yesterday Seydou Keita scored twice in Mali's 3-0 win over Sudan. Both Cameroon and Mali lead their respective qualifying groups for the 2010 World Cup.

I have to confess I thought this game had Italy scrape a lucky win written all over it. So many tournaments in the past have seen Spain perform well in the early stages only to get knocked out at the quarter-final stage, usually with some sort of controversy involved, while the Italians have made an art of getting through to finals after receiving criticism during the group stage.
Today's game had all the signs that Italy would triumph. Spain had more possession, they played the more attractive football, but the Italians when they did break forward looked more likely to score. To be honest neither team had many good chances and the game must have seemed pretty dull for the neutral.
As the game went into extra time there was a brief spell when it seemed as if the game was going to...

Yet another upset in Euro 2008 tonight. The Dutch had finished top of the so called group of death and were fancied by many people to go on and win it. However, tonight they were totally outplayed and outrun by a superb Russian team. Andrei Arshavin was absolutely brilliant and gave the performace of the tournament so far: Txiki should make an offer for him tomorrow.
Pavlyuchenko, who has been linked with Barça, was also very good and he put the Russians in front in the 56th minute when he turned in Semak's cross from the left. One weakness that the Russians seem to have is defending set-pieces and they were punished for it five minutes from the end of normal time when Van Nistlerooy headed home Sneijder's free kick.
In extra time Pavlyuchenko hit the bar with a cracking shot. Then in...
