Manchster United striker Carlos Tevez Scores Agaisnt Dynamo KievEnglish Premier League champions Manchester United move to the Final round of 16 in the 2007-08 UEFA Champions League football tournament after scoring its 4th straight win in the group stages, and earning 12 points. Their recent victory was against Ukranian Premier League champions Dynamo Kyiv, whom they hosted at Old Trafford and defeated 4-0, keeping the Ukranian football club without a single point in Group F.

Manchester United's 4 goals came from a Gerard Pique header on the 31st minute, a Carlos Tevez strike on the 37th minute, a Wayne Rooney volley on the 76th minute and a Cristiano Ronaldo amazing finish on the 88th minute.

Italian Serie A club AS Roma are in second place in the Group F standings with 7 points. With 2 group stage matches remaining, AS Roma will hope to secure a win when they visit Dynamo Kiev on November 27, and earn the remaining qualifying slot of Group F in the UEFA Champions League. UEFA Champions League Betting Results: Liverpool Beat Besiktas 8-0

Friday, 09 November 07, 06:37 AM

Liverpool's Yossi Benayoun scores a hat-trick!

Liverpool Steven Gerrard Scores A Goal Against BesiktasEnglish Premier Club Liverpool FC made history last Wednesday by recording the largest win in UEFA Champions league history when they defeated Turkish Super League club Besiktas JK 8-0 in their recent 2007-08 UEFA Champions Leage group stage match held at Anfield Park in England.

Besiktas had beaten Liverpool FC 2-1 just last month when The Reds were visitors at Turkey. However, sensing the need to produce a win in order to keep their UEFA Champions League hopes alive, Liverpool came out with a sense of urgency to make a record-breaking 8-0 over Besiktas, and sent a message to Group A leaders FC Porto that they better be prepared when they are visitors to Liverpool at Anfield Park at the end of the month.

Liverpool striker Peter Crouch opened the scoring for the Liverpool Reds in the 19th minute. Liverpool winger Yossi Benayoun added the 2nd goal for Liverpool in the 32nd minute, giving the Reds a comfortable 2-0 lead at the end of one half of football.

In the second half of the match between Liverpool and Besiktas, Liverpool unleashed a cascade of goals. Liverpool winger Yossi Benayoun scored in the 53rd and 56th minute to earn himself a hat-trick, and also extending the Liverpool lead to 4-0.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard added the 5th for Liverpool in the 69th minute.

Liverpool substitute Ryan Babel came off the bench to score 2 more goals in the 78th and 81st minute. Liverpool forward Peter Crouch capped off another goal in the 81st minute, bringing the complete total of goals to 8, and making history as having the highest scoring margin ever in a UEFA Champions League match.

Liverpool improve their point standings in Group A to 4 points with 2 more matches left in the group stages. FC Porto leads the group with 8 points and Marseille trail with 7 points. Liverpool FC are still in contention, but they really need to win their remaining matches before the year ends if they want to earn a spot in the First knockout round of the UEFA Champions League starting February 2008.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's next UEFA Champions League match will be on November 27 against FC Porto. Liverpool will look for home support at Anfield to help give them a boost in keeping their qualifying chances alive.

Liverpool's next English Premier League match will be against Fulham.

English Premier League Betting Results: Chelsea Move Up With 2-0 Win Against Wigan Athletic

Monday, 05 November 07, 02:16 AM

Frank Lampard scores a goal for Chelsea against Wigan Athletic

Chelsea wins 7th match in a row!

Things have been controversial for Chelsea FC this 2007-08 season of the English Premier League. Chelsea had lost former manager Jose Mourinho at the start of the season in place of new manager Avram Grant, who has had to deal with the adjustments and the injuries that are plaguing Chelsea. Injuries to the likes of Chelsea stars Andriy Schevchenko, Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard, Michael Ballack, Joe Cole, Ashley Cole, Wayne Bridge, John Terry, Claude Makelele and Ricardo Carvalho have not been good for head coach Avram Grant in trying to put the best 11 on his line-up.

Definitely, it has been a big mystery of mix-and-match in order to find a proper combination in order to bring out the amazing Chelsea football team chemistry. Back in September 2007 was a low point for Chelsea, giving up an 0-2 loss to Aston Villa, an 0-2 loss to Manchester United, an 0-0 draw with Blackburn Rovers at home and another 0-0 draw with Fulham also at home at Stamford Bridge.

Since then, things have looked up for Chelsea FC, and their recent 2-0 away win against Wigan Athletic has extended their winning streak to seven in a row, 5 straight in the English Premiership and 2 matches in the UEFA Champions League.

The goals for Chelsea against Wigan Athletic came from vice-captain Frank Lampard, who opened the scoring in the 11th minute. Frank Lampard has scored 4 goals for Chelsea in the last two matches, including a hat trick against Leicester City last week for a Carling Cup match.

Chelsea's Juliano Belletti scored his first ever goal for Chelsea after he had taken the ball from a little past half court and took it to the edge of the box before unleashing an awesome strike to beat Wigan Athletic keeper Chris Kirkland.

Chelsea's win move them to the third spot in the English Premier League standings with 24 points, just 3 behind the league leaders Arsenal and Manchester United who both have 27 points.

Chelsea's next match will be a UEFA Champions League group stage match against German Bundelsiga 1 club Schalke '04 on November 6. Chelsea defeated Schalke 2-0 last October 2007 when they hosted the German side at Stamford Bridge. This time Chelsea will be visitors at Schalke. While that might be a slight disadvantage, Chelsea's form look good enough to book them a win and earn the 3 points to take a commanding lead in Groub B of the UEFA Champions League.

Chelsea's next Premiership match will be on November 11 against Everton at Stamford Bridge.

English Premier League News: Arsenal Draw With Liverpool 1-1

Thursday, 01 November 07, 03:34 AM

Steven Gerrard of Liverpool and Cesc Fabregas of ArsenalEnglish Premier League club Liverpool is difficult to beat when they play in front of the home fans at Anfield. However, Arsenal has been on an impressive streak, having been unbeaten in their last 12 matches and are at the top of the English Premier League standings. Certainly, Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger were going to keep up the quality of their football and hope to disappoint the Liverpool crowd with a win.

But then, it was Liverpool who were relentless on their attack, and eventually were awarded the first goal of the game when Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard smashed a free-kick from 20 meters out to make the score 1-0 in favor of Liverpool in just 7 minutes from the start of the match.

Liverpool maintained the one goal advantage throughout the match, but Arsenal were able to score an equaliser in the 80th minute when Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas scored a goal.

Cesc Fabregas could've made the score 2-1 in the 86th minute, but his attempt unfortunately hit the post.

Andriy Voronin, Jamie Carragher, Peter Crouch and Sam Hyypia played well for Liverpool.

Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Adebayor, Tomas Rosicky, Mathieu Flamini and Aliaksandr Hleb played well for Arsenal.

The scoreline stood at 1-1, and Arsenal earn one point for the draw to keep them at the top of the English Premier League with 26 points, tied with English Premier League champions Manchester United who also have 26 points.

Liverpool coach Rafael Benitez commented, "We played well but at the end, that (the result) is what matters. I'm disappointed because I hit the post and we go home disappointed because we deserved to get the three points."

Liverpool are at 6th in the English Premier League standings with 20 points following the draw with Arsenal.

Arsenal's next match will be a home match at the Emirates Stadium against Manchester United on November 3. It will be a battle of the top two in the English Premier League with both Arsenal and Manchester United hoping for a win to maintain the solo lead at the top of the standings.

Liverpool will be visitors at Ewood Park where they play the Blackburn Rovers on November 3.

Manchester United Win Against Middlesbrough 4-1 at Old Trafford

Tuesday, 30 October 07, 10:45 AM

Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez of Manchester UnitedThe recent English Premier League match of Manchester United against Middlesbrough at Old Trafford brought a big smile to Manchester United head coach Sir Alex Ferguson, who was all smiles following the 4-1 victory of the Red Devils against Middlesbrough.

Manchester United midfielder Nani was the first to score when he fired a rocket of a shot from 30 meters out to beat Middlesbrough keeper Mark Schwarzer. Middlesbrough was able to get back in the game soon after when Aliadiere put a header into the Manchester United goal, the first goal conceded at Old Trafford this season. With the game tied at 1-1, Middlesbrough's Stewart Downing almost gave the lead for Boro, but his header sailed wide. Stewart Downing eventually made a costly error in the Middlesbrough back when he gave away the ball to Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, who smashed it into the goal to give ManU a 2-1 advantage.

Carlos Tevez then added two more goals, combining with Wayne Rooney in both occasions to earn his goals. The Rooney-Tevez combination indeed provided some magic in the Manchester United offensive line, and their sublime timing and passing really worked out to provide a lot of scoring chances.

Manchester United collect all 3 points, and share the lead with Arsenal at the top of the English Premier League points standings with 26 points.

Manchester United will have a tough task in their next English Premier League match as they become visitors at the Emirates Stadium for a match against Arsenal. It will be a clash between the top 2 of the English Premier League, and the definite winner will indeed have solo lead of the English Premier League standings.

Chelsea Destroy Manchester City 6-0 in English Premier League

Tuesday, 30 October 07, 10:13 AM

Six goals to Nil!

Didier Drogba Scores 2 Goals in Chelsea’s 6-0 win against Manchester CityChelsea was firing on all cylinders in their recent English Premier League match against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge. Manchester City, who are ranked at number 3 in the English Premier League points standings should've shown a better result, but it was all Chelsea from the start, and the downpour of goals were definitely a delight for Chelsea fans.

The Chelsea Blues biggest win of the season came thanks to two goals from Chelsea's super striker Didier Drogba and a goal each from the likes of Chelsea's Michael Essien, Joe Cole, Salomon Kalou and Andriy Shevchenko.

Chelsea's Michael Essien added some big stats to his record by also providing two assists and a goal, and could clearly qualify as Man of the Match as well as Didier Drogba, who scored two goals.

Manchester City has improved their quality of football under the new management of head coach Sven Goran-Erickson, but City was in no match for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in terms of getting the ball in the back of the net. The result was very favorable indeed for Chelsea, who have been struggling this 2007-08 season of the English Premier League in coming up with victories. Perhaps injuries to the likes of Michael Ballack and other key injuries have not been able to produce the best eleven footballers on the pitch at the same time for Chelsea. However, perhaps that will all change as it seems that the Chelsea players are getting healthier.

Perhaps Manchester City could've kept the deficit down had their starting goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel played. However, Manchester CIty had to rely on reserve keeper Joe Hart, and it must've been painful for Joe Hart to let in so many goals. But what could be done? Chelsea was just really playing some awesome football, finding the right space for passes and striking it into the back of the Manchester City net.

Chelsea manager Avram Grant is very pleased with the big win, his biggest win since taking over the management reigns of Chelsea after the resignation of Jose Mourinho.

"In the next game we have to do the same, and it's up to the team to keep working hard and keep the spirit going," commented Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou.

Chelsea's next English Premier League feature will be an away-match at the JJB Stadium against Wigan Athletic. Definitely, with Chelsea's top form, they look to make easy work of Wigan Athletic and maybe add 3 more points to their current 21 points in the English Premier League standings. Chelsea FC is currently 4th with 21 points, just one behind Manchester City who have 22, and just 5 from the English Premier League leaders Arsenal and Manchester United, who both have 26 points.

Roman Pavlyuchenko Scores 2 Goals for Russia to beat England in Euro 2008.

Thursday, 18 October 07, 09:26 AM

Roman Pavlyuchenko Scores 2 Goals for Russia to beat England in Euro 2008.Russia's chances for qualifying to the UEFA Euro 2008 Finals are still alive after coming from behind to beat England 2-1 in their recent Euro 2008 qualifying match held at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, Russia this October 17. It wasn't an easy task though for Russia with England playing top form. In fact, it was England who struck first to silence the Russian home fans when England striker Wayne Rooney of English Premier League champions Manchester United chested a flick pass from teammate Michael Owen and slammed a powerful volley into the goal of Russia past Russian goalkeeper Vladimir Gabulov.

Russia were struggling to get an equaliser, and Russia's head coach Guus Hiddink made some adjustments with key substitutions, bringing in midfielder Dmitri Torbinskiy to replace defender Vasili Berezutski in the 46th minute, and then brining in forward Roman Pavlyuchenko to replace a tired Aleksandr Kerzhakov in the 58th minute.

10 minutes after the substitution, England striker Wayne Rooney gets yellow-carded for a foul in the penalty area against Russia's Konstantin Zyrianov. Russia's substitute Roman Pavlyuchenko took the penalty kick and beat England keeper Paul Robinson to put the game level at 1-1.

4 minutes after, on the 73rd minute, Russia's Roman Pavlyuchenko was able to poke in a rebound from an initial shot made by teammate Aleksei Berezutski. England keeper Paul Robinson did well to parry the first shot, but Roman Pavlyunchenko was the first to get to the ball and poke it in the unguarded England goal to give Russia a 2-1 advantage and send the Russian home fans to a frenzy.

England coach Steve McLaren made last minute gambles by bringing in Frank Lampard, Stuart Downing and Peter Crouch from the bench, but Russia was able to hold off the England offensive to book the win and collect all 3 points. Russia's win over England improves their point standings in Group E to 21 points, just 2 points behind England who maintain the number 2 spot with 23 points. Croatia lead Group E with 26 points, and look to be assured of a spot in the Euro 2008 Finals in Austria and Switzerland this June 2008.

England must win their last Euro 2008 qualifying match at home against Group E leaders Croatia on November 21 if they hope to make it to the Euro 2008 finals. Meanwhile, Russia have two away matches for the UEFA Euro 2008 qualifying stages against Israel on November 17 and against Andorra on November 21. Russia still has the opportunity to collect 6 points if they win both matches, and those 6 points could indeed earn them a trip to the Euro 2008 Finals. Russia drew with Israel at home 1-1 back in October 2006, and they crushed Andorra at home 4-0 back in June 2007.

England lost to Croatia 2-0 when they were visitors at Croatia back in October 2006. Come November 2007, England will be hoping that the home pitch advantage and the home crowd support at the New Wembley Stadium can help them get a win against the Group E leaders Croatia in order to ascertain a spot for the Euro 2008 Finals.

England Beats Estonia 3-0 in UEFA Euro 2008

Monday, 15 October 07, 09:53 AM

The England national football team cruised to an easy 3-0 victory against Estonia to the delight of a full-capactiy crowd in the New Wembley Stadium in London, England.

In the 11th minute, England midfielder Shaun-Wright Phillips put England 1-0 up against Estonia when he drilled a shot between the legs of Estonia's keeper Mart Poom. In the 32nd minute, England striker Wayne Rooney of English Premier League champions Manchester United made it 2-0, grabbing his first international goal in eleven months. One minute after that, Ashley Cole sent in a deep cross that was headed by Estonia defender Taavi Rahn into his own net. Rahn's own goal gave the English home side a 3-0 advantage, which they maintained throughout the match.wayne rooney scores for england

It was the 5th successive 3-0 victory of England, who collected 3 points for the win against Estonia to improve their standings in Group E of the UEFA Euro 2008 to 2nd place with 23 points. Croatia leads Group E with 26 points, collecting 3 more points following a 10 home victory against Israel. Russia are in 3rd place in Group E with 18 points, and must perform well in their last 3 matches. Russia will go up against England on October 17, against Israel on November 17 and against Andorra on November 21. Russia must win against England if they still hope to make it to the Euro 2008 Finals. Otherwise, a win by England will certainly stretch their lead over 3rd place Russia.

The last time England met Russia was just last September 2007 when Russia were visitors at the New Wembley Stadium. England defeated the Russian side 3-0. Russia will be looking to capitalize on their home pitch advantage when England visit them on October 17. Russian soccer stars hoping to provide that much needed spark include Aleksandr Kerzhakov of Spanish Super Cup and UEFA Cup champions Sevilla FC.

England, of course, has an impressive lineup that includes Steven Gerrard of Liverpool, Frank Lampard of Chelsea and Michael Owen of Newcastle United. However, England will not have the services of Ashley Cole, who suffered a serious ankle injury in the match against Estonia.
