Raul González and Iker Casillas faced the press after Real Madrid were knocked out of the King’s Cup by Segunda B side, Alcorcón.

‘We did not give the image we had wanted to’, said Raul, admitting that it had been a grand disappointment for the fans.

For his part goalkeeper Iker Casillas said that the players were to blame, as Real Madrid should have passed into the second round of the competition. He said he thought that all the team should accept their part of the blame, but these were things that happened sometimes, even if they could be from a Steven Spielberg film. Pellegrini Under Pressure At Real Madrid

Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini's future is uncertain following the club's humiliating 4-0 loss to third-division club Alcorcon in the Copa del Rey.

"This is starting to look a lot like the last time," the AS newspaper said, referring to the previous galactico era at Madrid.

Madrid's player budget is more than 400 times higher than Alcorcon's.

Alcorcon forward Francisco Borja was still grappling with the result. "The truth is that it feels like a dream," Borja said.

Borja, who is a card-carrying Madrid member, wouldn't comment on whether Pellegrini should continue.

Ferguson Writes To Injured Defour

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has stepped up his interest in Steven Defour, sending the injured Standard Liege captain a letter reassuring him that he continues to monitor his progress.

The letter, which has been released to the media, reads: "Dear Steven, I have just heard about your injury and, in the name of Manchester United, I would like to wish you a full and speedy recovery.

"Steven, I have to tell you that modern medicine and treatments are incredible, you have to have confidence in them."

Defour was delighted to receive Ferguson's letter but the 21-year-old was swift to point out that the Barclays Premier League club had done everything by the book and had sent it to his club to pass onto him.

"I think the attention is great, but I do not want people think I am already at Manchester, which is no means the case. But if they come knocking, then I would obviously not cause problems," Defour told Het Laatste Nieuws.

Hamburg At The Top Of The Table

Hamburg beat Stuttgart 3-1 remaining at the top of the table. Goals from Mladen Petric, Eljero Elia and Ze Roberto helped Hamburg defend their lead.

Another big match of the day was Wolfsburg against Bayer Leverkusen and last season's champions Wolfsburg experienced a bitter defeat. At the end they were 3-2 down and Leverkusen moved to second place in the table.

Last year's surprise success story, Hoffenheim, defeated Bochum 3-0 and are now fifth in the Bundesliga.

Eintracht Frankurt scored a 2-0 victory over Freiburg and move to third in the table.
