Just thought i'd post to see what kind of football injuries people on here had picked up.
In my last 5-a-side game, my continued stubbornness to not wear shinpads finally came to bite me in the... shins. One of the blades on the underside of someone's shoes punctured my shin, which has subsequently gotten infected and now I am on antibiotics. Great joy! Definitely something different to the usual knocks, kicks and sprains that i'm accustomed to.
So what do you guys have to add?
Arjun - it's the XTSC (www.xtsc.ca).
Jen - the same thing happened to a girl from my team last week as well, and now she's walking around with a black eye and getting asked the same questions, especially with all those posters around the subway.
Injuries I had playing football.. 3 major ones are:
1) Broken left hand landing on it after a overhead kick that went in the net!
2) Fractured a rib after collaiding with a keeper
3) 3rd Degree tear to a minscus(sp) in my right knee
Thanks Sul,
I play in the TRSL - www.trsl.ca after years of playing in the TCSSC - www.tcssc.com. The 'real' nets TRSL has is a major draw.
For men's league I used to play in the Erin Mills Soccer Club in the 'Sauga - www.erinmillssoccer.com.

Last night someone kneed me in the upper calf region just below the back of the knee. Big nasty bruise that has me limping.
I have no nails on my left big toe and right index finger - both were victims of stamps from local Viduka likes.
.. and finally, several years back, a tackle caused me to shred all 3 ligaments in my right ankle.
What league Sul ?
Multiple sprained ankles, twisted knees, and the usual assortment of scrapes and bruises (my favourites are the ones where you can literally see the cleat marks)...
Probably the best, though, was the black eye last summer, thanks to a flailing fist that caught me in the face -- from one of the guys on my own team, no less! I had a gorgeous shiner for a week or two. I kept my sunglasses on a lot, because people kept giving me funny looks when I took them off, like I was the victim of domestic abuse or something. I felt like I should be wearing a sign that said, "Don't worry, it's just a soccer injury."
