What is the purpose of third party owners? How can a third party person or company own a player? What are the origins of this situation?
These third party owners should be relegated to agents instead. They shouldn't be allowed to own players because they can't train players or help in their development. They can't treat players if the player is injured, so what do they actually do? Their duties are limited to what agents do.
FIFA should step in and outlaw these so-called owners. In the last month, it has reared its ugly head twice. First with Carlos Tevez and now with Manuel Fernandes. If this continues, it would inflate player prices and it might put players in situations where their club choices would be limited. This would mean only the top clubs will be able to afford these players, and in turn keeping these clubs on top and increasing the gap between them and the other clubs. In a day when contracts mean almost nothing, some measures must be taken before this becomes a common thing in the future.
