While the players will spend the opening two days of Ghana 2008 on the field and spectators glued to the action, I'll be flying to the scene.
But come the morning of day three I'll be in Ghana, reporting for OleOle and ready to become a living part of this tournament.
Even though my flight is just days away I still can't believe it's going to happen.
Things have certainly conspired against me going.
For starters, Australia's national airline QANTAS had its workers go on rolling strikes through the new year period.
Then the unfortunate circumstances in Kenya broke out, forcing me to switch my flight plans to go via South Africa instead.
Now I'm still pensively anticipating Monday morning and the 18 hour journey from Melbourne to Accra.
The first priority when I arrive? To get my hands on my media pass! And from there to get acquainted with Ghana's wireless network and get my machine hooked up to the internet.
Then it's full-on football.
I'm too nervous to even think about a preview, the players, the matches, it's almost like a jinx to think in just five days I'll be there.
Please leave a comment if you're going to Ghana as well. I'm sure you're looking forward to it as much as I am.
