Aston Villa have been doing a good job and look strong in the 4th position with 5 points ahead of 5th place Arsenal. However there's something that needs to be improved in the team's offense. All the four wins since boxing day were by a very narrow margin. And Wigan is not an easy prey, not at all. The Latics have been performing remarkably well and the 7th position on the table is not by accident.

Wigan have been hanging well in the midst of the table this at Newcastle, Sunderland and Blackburn's expense. The Latics have good chances to beat the Rovers. Well, this season anybody is having a good chance to beat the Rovers.

I have only one thing to say about Blackburn: Paul Ince has to go.

It took a great come back on the second for Wigan boss Steve Bruce to obtain his first back to back win at the EPL.However, I saw the Latics stutter in front of a very weak West Brom and this is dangerous. The momentaneous euphoria needs to be contained because Arsenal is now motivated after beating Chelsea and bringing back some hope to fight for the title.

Brave Wigan secured the 3 points at home against Everton and climbed a little bit farther from the relegation zone. But there's still danger. A wim against the Baggies would put the LAtics in a much more confortable situation and sink West Brom even more.

I believe West Brom is already of a way to repeat their 2007/2008 run at the Championship in 2009/2010 because with a record of 5 loses and 1 draw in the last 6 matches I can't see things getting much better for the Baggies.

Wigan can breathe in relief after earning a draw in the last minutes against Newcastle last weekend. The Latics scored in the first half and had to fight for the draw after Toon scored twice in the 79th and 86th minute. That could've been a frustrating result but I believe it actually shows that this group has a lot of personality and determination. 

Everton also come from a draw. But this one was at home. However the Toffees are climbing up the table and could shock tha Latics at the JJB Stadium.

After two wins in a row Newcastle found the Cottagers in their way and lost last weekend. The team is now back to the relegation zone but a good result against Wigan can change that. I believe Michael Owen should start this weekend.

Wigan is part of the group of teams with 12 points. Very dangerous situation because a bad result against Newcastle and they could drop directly to the relegation zone.

I misjudged Wigan's capacity of ... of... well, I don't know how to explain this team. Maybe bravery is a good word for what they achieved last weekend against Pompey. They went to the Fratton Park and came back with a 2-1 win that gave them some more oxygen to breath and kept them out of the relegation zone for another week. Now they face a Stoke City squad that is also very pumped up with a astonishing win over Arsenal. 

I really don't know what do say about Stoke. When I thought they were stamping their passports back to the Championship they come and smack me in the face. Twice.

With the two wins in the last two matches Stoke City climbed up to the 12th place and if they can perform well on the road this coming weekend they can break through the top ten clubs in the EPL. 

Unbelievable. 

GOBSMACK PREDICTION: I'll give Stoke the benefit of the doubt this time and I'll say they'll get a 1-1 draw.

Oh Pompey, art thou a brave knight? You are! But you still got defeated. Portsmouth managed to hold 'Pool for 75 minutes with David James making great saves and a good defence (did I just really say that?) But why the hell did Defoe only come in with 5 minutes to the end of the match? Now Pompey will in search of a win against Wigan to get closer to Hull City.

The Latics lost to Fulham, just as I predicted. Wigan is the least interesting team this season and the more they get closer to the relegation zone the more I prove to be right. Oh wait a minute, they already are in the relegation zone. I am right indeed!

Let's be honest. If you are not a Fulham or a Wigan fan there's nothing interesting about this match. Nothing. 

Two very bad teams fighting to decided which one is the less horrible.

Fulham got a draw against Pompey last weekend and I give them credit for that even though it didn't help them climb up the table.  

Wigan got crashed by Aston Villa at home 4-0. Nothing to comment about that.

After losing to Liverpool last weekend the Lactics fell to the 14th position on the table. But I'd risk to say that they are a reasonably balanced side. I truly believe they will be able to hold themselves for another season in the top flight. But they will have a tough time holding Aston Villa's offense in this match.

The Villan's were counting on a win against Pompey but it didn't happen. They will need to best Wigan to keep themselves at the top part of the table to maintain their chances of finishing among the top four. Man United with one match less already caught up in points with AVFC. The red light is on!
