A black cloud is stuck over Newcastle. The Magpies not only lost the match to Man City on Wednesday night but also saw Joey Barton and Michael Owen leave the pitch injured. Their opponents for the weekend match are Sunderland and the Black Cats are only three points ahead of them. For both teams this is a very important match.

GOBSMACK PREDICTION: Tough one to predict but I'd say Sunderland win 2-0

The battle of desperation! Sunderland is only two spots and three points above WBA at the bottom part of the table. The Black Cats already let Keano go but there is still a lot to be improve for the team to dig themselves out of the relegation zone.

 And for West Brom a win over the Black Cats could represent their way out of the bottom. I keep saying that the Baggies are well on their way back to the Championship and I continuee to believe that.

Man U did what the fans expected and even with Ronaldo ridiculously seing a red card, Rooney gave the team an important win. With Sunderland's latest form a win this weekend is an obligation.

Sunderland was crashed by Bolton and nothing seems to work for Roy Keane's side. Maybe it's time for a new manager to take over and try to save the Black Cats from relegation.

Two teams coming from very different situations. Sunderland lost at home to West Ham in a game that they could not transform their chances into goals and didn't find enough power to come back on top. As for the Trotters a brilliant performance gave them a well deserved win on the road. Fulham is climbing up the table while Sunderland sinks a little closer to the relegation.

Djibril Cisse was the man who gave the Black Cats their second goal to crown the team's come back on the road against the Rovers last weekend. It's a result that fills the lads with confidence for this clash against Gianfranco Zola's Hammers. But it's also a result that tends to hide mistakes that still need to be correct if Sunderland want to breath free from the danger of a relegation.

The same cannot even be said about West Ham. It's true that they didn't lose but a goalless draw against Pompey at home doesn't necessarily please the fans and the board. The pressure on Zola intensifies.

In the last 6 matches Paul Ince's side had 3 draws and 3 losses. It's very frustrating for the Rovers' fans to see the club in such bad form. Blackburn do not only need a win to elevate the spirit of the players and the fans but also to avoid falling to the relegation zone.

The Black Cats were scalped by Chelsea last weekend. 5-0. The best thing they can do is forget that match. There's no lesson to take from it right now. If there's something there to be learned it needs to be saved and used when they face another one of the big guns. For this match against Pompey, Sunderland need to focus on what they were doing before the lost to Stoke City, whatever that is. 

Portsmouth is a very disappointing team. They are still hanging there among the top ten but when you think they will move up a few spots they display zero determination and desire and they lose at home and at the very last minute to Wigan. Pitiful! But i'm sure they will now play well and win on the road just because that's just the way it is.

Things went back to normal as Chelsea beat Hull City. There was a very small amount of fear in the Blues' fans that the Tigers could shock them but that was soon wiped off when Frankie Lampard scored the opening within 2 minutes. Against the Black Cats, Chelsea want to start a new home winning streak.

Sunderland let me down. I don't know how the could've lost to Stoke City. And now I don't believe they'll have any power against Chelsea. Sorry Black Cats but things don't look very good right now.

Stoke City fans hate me already. Just because I stated that the Potters are on their way back to Championshit. That was when I made my prediction for the match against the Spurs. Then Stoke City won that clash and I got some interesting hate mail from Potters fans.

Well, what is it about a team beating the opponent that sits at the very bottom of the table? Nothing to be impressed about.

Then they pay a visit to newly wealthy Man City and get beaten 3-0!

My point is: Potters are on their way back to the Championshit as I said before. Any doubts? They will even enjoy going back and having a good time with their friends for Leicester just like thye did last season:

Sunderland won the derby against Newcastle after 28 years of humiliation facing the Toon. Good. Now they need to use that momentum and engage in a sequel of good results.

Sunderland could have left the Craven Cottage with a win but the team failed to put the ball inside the net. Now the Black Cats are going to have a tougher challenge because Newcastle is slowly getting back on track. I SAID SLOWLY!

Why can't Newcastle perform every week like they did on Monday night against Manchester City. The 2-2 draw was a brave result for a team that is in deep crisis and had to play with 10 men for most of the match. Playing with desire is easy when you can find a coach who can bring some energy into those lads.
