Aston Villa have been doing a good job and look strong in the 4th position with 5 points ahead of 5th place Arsenal. However there's something that needs to be improved in the team's offense. All the four wins since boxing day were by a very narrow margin. And Wigan is not an easy prey, not at all. The Latics have been performing remarkably well and the 7th position on the table is not by accident.

Ashley Young gave Villa an incredible win at the very last moments of the match against Everton. I thought the  Villans had lost their spark but they proved me wring. The team battled from beggining to end and showed maturity and determination. Against Bolton it should be easier for Aston Villa to impose their superiority. 

Bolton did against Chelsea what I predicted they would do: lose. But the Trotters didn't sucumbe. The 2-0 result was understandable and nothing that could shake their good campaign so far. A point againstAston Villa at the Villa Park will be greatly welcome.

One of the most important matches for the Toffees this season. A win could represent a ticket among the top 5 but a defeat will sink the team's morale as Aston Villa is possibly their biggest rival in the pursuit of a spot among the top four.

And I'm still trying to understand wht has happened to Aston Villa. It seems that the lads lost the spark they were showing early thins season. This match id crucial for their intentions of infiltrating the top teams' zone

Villa is back on the top four with the draw against Man U last weekend. With John Carew not producing as much as he was in the beginning of the season Villa boss Martin O'Neill isnow saying the the Norwegian striker does not have his spot on the starting line-up guaranteed. Good for the lad that will have to work harder and prove his value, and that could mean goals.

As for Fulham, the Cottagers did a great job getting a draw against Liverpool. That result kept them in the top ten for another week and boosted the lads confidence for this clash at the Villa Park.

Aston Villa got a win after two defeats. The good result put the Villans on fifth place but with the same amount of points as Arsenal who is in fourth. The Villans as I've been saying, are the team with more chances to break into the top four this season and if Man U and Arsenal do not watch carefully they will.

Manchester United crushed Stoke City and now the confidence level is up at Old Trafford. But the Red Devils will need all their talents to step up if they want to come out of the Villa Park with a win. A defeat might cause them to drop out of the top four.

What a great football clash this one will be. Arsenal got a great win last weekend against Manchester United (just like this blogger predicted) and secured the 3rd place in the standings. Arsene Wenger boys showed improvement. Can they now keep the momentum going?

The Villans lost 6 very important points in the last two matches that cost their spot in the top 4. If Arsenal will try to maintain the momentum  for Aston Villa the task is to get back on track to keep the leader on sight.

Aston Villa let three points at St. James' Park last weekend. it was adefeat that noboby really expected but it's against those desperate clubs that one needs to be careful. For this match against the Boro it will be necessary for some lads to step up and take responsibilty. Leadership and determination will be the key factors for a sucessful match.

The same formula above will also serve well for Middlesbrough. There's no desperation on their side but there should be caution. They can't afford to snooze or all the hard work from the last weeks will go down the drain. A win will settle things down.

A more than necessary win. A breath of fresh air for the Magpies. Peace of mind... but they cannot relax yet. The team beat WBA but playing against Aston Villa will be a much different story. Good news for the Toon is the very probable return of Michael Owen.

Aston Villa continue playing with a lot of determination and desire and it's paying off. With the win over Blackburn the Villans grabbed a spot among the top four and to maintain their position they will need to beat Newcastle. I believe they can do it with no major problems.

If there's a team this season that I've been finding entertaining to watch it has to be Aston Villa. The Villans are showing a very organized, attacking motivated football and that is possibly the main reason the team appears in a comfortable 5th position only 2 points behind Arsenal.  But Villa cannot snooze. The wins need to continue!

Benni McCarthy came out of the bench to score a last minute equalizer to save the Rovers from a home defeat against Middlesbrough last weekend. At least it wasn't a bring performance, that's for sure. But if Paul Ince thinks that they will have the same luck against Aston Villa he'd better think twice.

After losing to Liverpool last weekend the Lactics fell to the 14th position on the table. But I'd risk to say that they are a reasonably balanced side. I truly believe they will be able to hold themselves for another season in the top flight. But they will have a tough time holding Aston Villa's offense in this match.

The Villan's were counting on a win against Pompey but it didn't happen. They will need to best Wigan to keep themselves at the top part of the table to maintain their chances of finishing among the top four. Man United with one match less already caught up in points with AVFC. The red light is on!
