Premier League Match Preview: Stoke City v. Manchester City

I'm really thrilled to see Stoke fans walking on the streets with their traditional frowns and their renowned depressive drunkness. Stoke City's performance against the Spurs was simply horrible. In only 25 minutes the Potters allowed three goals. Every match from now on is life-or-death for Stoke City but I see no hope for the Potters.

Man City is one of the teams that resurrected since boxing day. The Citizens got 3 wins and 1 draw in their last matches and now sit in the top half of the table (9th place). Playing a desperate Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium won't be easy but with Bellamy already feeling comfortable with Robinho and Wright-Phillips the Citizens have a good chance to keep the mommentum going.

GOBSMACK PREDICTION: City win 2-0

Premier League Match Preview: Manchester City v. Everton

Wednesday, 10 December 08, 11:31 AM

Live coverage of the Manchester City vs. Everton match on Saturday, 13 December, 2008. Live commentary and blogging, live score, match result, match review. Catch all the action when the Citizens host the Toffees at the City of Manchester Stadium in the week number seventeen of the 2008-2009 English Premier League. Every night Robinho might put his head on a pillow and think "why have I come here?" The Brazilian superstar is feeling game after game only proves to be a real small club. No matter how much money you invest if the winning mentality is not already present the team is not going to achieve that overnight. I think Man City can beat Everton but they will have to prove it on the field.

Everton is a tough team to beat. The defeat to Aston Villa was hard to swallow. The Toffees truly deserved a better luck but this is how football is. Time to regroup and get back to winning ways.

GOBSMACK PREDICTION: Everton beat the Citizens 1-2

Premier League Match Preview: Fulham v. Manchester City

Wednesday, 03 December 08, 02:05 AM

Live coverage of the Fulham vs. Manchester City match on Saturday, 06 December, 2008. Live commentary and blogging, live score, match result, match review. Catch all the action when the Cottagers host the Citizens at the Craven Cottage in the week number sixteen of the 2008-2009 English Premier League. Chat and discuss the match live with other fans on OleOle. CLICK HERE TO ACCESS THE MATCH CENTRE.

Fulham managed to hold two goalless draws on the road and against teams that are among the top five: Liverpool and Aston Villa. I'm starting to believe that there some potential for the Cottagers to secure their spot among the elite for another season.

But for Manchester City the problems accumulate day by day. Robinho declared after the team lost to Man U last weekend that Manchester City need to play like a big club if they want to be respected as a big club. He's right. The only problem is that Man City is not a big club and it will take much more money and better quality on the pitch to get there.

GOBSMACK PREDICTION: Fulham can very well enjoy the momentum and win this one 1-0

Premier League Match Preview: Manchester City v. Manchester United

Wednesday, 26 November 08, 02:15 PM

Live coverage of the Manchester City vs. Manchester United match on Sunday, 30 November, 2008. Live commentary and blogging, live score, match result, match review. Catch all the action when the Citizens host the Red Devils at the City of Manchester Stadium in the week number fifteen of the 2008-2009 English Premier League. Chat and discuss the match live with other fans on OleOle. CLICK HERE TO ACCESS THE MATCH CENTRE.

The Derby of Manchester will have two teams in condition that are already familiar for both sides. Manchester City struggling to break the top six and Manchester United once again among the top three and fighting for the title.

Besides esporadic divine moments by Robinho and Ronaldo both teams are not convincing me that they will have the power to achieve their goals. The Citizens won't break into the top four as planned and the Red Devils won't clinch another title either.

Nevertheless a derby is always a derby.

GOBSMACK PREDICTION: I hope for a match with a good number of goals and Man Utd win 2-4

Premier League Match Preview: Manchester City v. Arsenal

Wednesday, 19 November 08, 01:42 AM

Live coverage of the Man City vs. Arsenal match on Saturday, 22 November, 2008. Live commentary and blogging, live score, match result, match review. Catch all the action when the Citizens host the Gunners at The City of Manchester Stadium in the week number fourteen of the 2008-2009 English Premier League. Chat and discuss the match live with other fans on OleOle. CLICK HERE TO ACCESS THE MATCH CENTRE.

Two teams that are not quite doing what the fans expect from them. Manchester City spent millions of pounds bringing Robinho but even though the Brazilian has been delivering good performances the rest of the team, specially the transition defence/midfield and the defensive side itself have been horrible.

Now Arsenal's problem is inconsistency. The Gunners have had too many ups and downs this season and this has been costly. Just imagine if they had impose their expected supremacy against Fulham Hull and Stoke City and haven't given away the two late goals against the Spurs. That sums up to 12 points which would put them at the very top of the table with 35 now. That's how you win or lose a title.

GOBSMACK PREDICTION: Arsenal has power to win on the road but Man City is desperate. Another match that can go either way and I'll go for a 2-2 draw.

Premier League Match Preview: Hull City v. Manchester City

Wednesday, 12 November 08, 03:33 PM

Live coverage of the Hull City vs. Manchester City match on Sunday, 16 November, 2008. Live commentary and blogging, live score, match result, match review. Catch all the action when the Tigers host the Citizens at the KC Stadium in the week number thirteen of the 2008-2009 English Premier League. Chat and discuss the match live with other fans on OleOle. CLICK HERE TO ACCESS THE MATCH CENTRE.

All right Tigers! time to get back on track. And by that I don't beating every team but losing at home to Bolton should not be part of the plan to stay at the top flight for another season, right? If the defence can keep its form against Robinho I believe there's a chance for a good result.

The rich boys can't win. Robinho is killing himself up front but there is no defensive midfield giving the defence a good support. Man City is a disaster right now. If they lose to Hull I believe Mark Hughes will get the boot.

GOBSMACK PREDICTION: Hull win 2-1 (I'm being ultra-optimistic)

Premier League Match Preview: Manchester City v. Tottenham

Tuesday, 04 November 08, 12:16 PM

Live coverage of the Manchester City vs. Tottenham Hotspur match on Sunday, 9 November, 2008. Live commentary and blogging, live score, match result, match review. Catch all the action when the Citizens host the Spurs at the City of Manchester Stadium in the week number twelve of the 2008-2009 English Premier League. Chat and discuss the match live with other fans on OleOle. CLICK HERE TO ACCESS THE MATCH CENTRE.

Something very strange is happening with the Citizens. The Robinho hype has passed and the Brazilian trickster is trying really hard to bring this squad to life. But it seems like the state of coma of Man Citeh players is deeper than we all imagined. Things don't look good for those wealthy pale blues.

On the other hand Tottenham is alive. Sleeping Beauty became Frankenstein and with a new man in charge the Spurs have become the sensation of the moment. The last minute win over Liverpool filled the White Hart Lane with confidence and it seems I could be wearing that white strip for another week.

GOBSMACK PREDICTION: I will risk to say that Citeh won't be able to hold the Spurs 1-3

*I'm not sure about this prediction at all!!! It could be the same score but the other way around.

Premier League Match Preview -> Bolton v. Manchester City

Thursday, 30 October 08, 12:37 PM

Live coverage of the Bolton Wanderers vs. Manchester City match on Sunday, 2 November, 2008. Live commentary and blogging, live score, match result, match review. Catch all the action when the Trotters host the Citizens at the Reebok Stadium in the week number eleven of the 2008-2009 English Premier League. Chat and discuss the match live with other fans on OleOle. CLICK HERE TO ACCESS THE MATCH CENTRE.

There we have it. Bolton reached the bottom. It was a matter of time for the Trotters to get to the relegation zone. And it's not that the team doesn't try hard. They do but the fact is that they are just not good enough. Now they will face a desperate Manchester City and it's not going to be easy.

Red Alert for the Citizens. I'm sure all the fans wanted to see a lot more consistency from a club that spent so much money for this season. Man City clinched only 13 points so far. Half of the amount of points of the leader Liverpool and still seven behind 5th place Hull City. This is pitiful!

GOBSMACK PREDICTION: Citizens win on the road 0-2

Premier League Match Preview -> Middlesbrough v. Manchester City

Monday, 27 October 08, 11:19 AM

Live coverage of the Middlesbrough vs. Manchester City match on Wednesday 29 October, 2008. Live commentary and blogging, live score, match result, match review. Catch all the action when Boro host the Citizens at the Riverside Stadium in the week number ten of the 2008-2009 English Premier League. Chat and discuss the match live with other fans on OleOle. CLICK HERE TO ACCESS THE MATCH CENTRE.

Boro had  a golden chance to clinch three points against Blackburn but was shocked by a last minute equalizer. Too bad for a team who was hoping to give their supporters a relief after the 5-0 beating two weeks ago against Chelsea. Boro fans can't wait for a convincing performance on Wednesday.

Man City finally saw a glamurous exhibition by their wonder boy Robinho. The Brazilian trickster scored the three goals that gave the Citizens an important win and now they will do everything to keep the goals and wins coming. Next victim: Middlesbrough.

GOBSMACK PREDICTION: Man City upsets Boro 0-2

Premier League Match Preview -> Manchester City v. Stoke City

Tuesday, 21 October 08, 02:35 AM

Live coverage of the Manchester City vs. Stoke City match on Sunday 26 October, 2008. Live commentary and blogging, live score, match result, match review. Catch all the action when the Citizens host the Potters at the City of Manchester Stadium in the week number nine of the 2008-2009 English Premier League. As the philosopher James Paul McCartney once wrote "I'll buy you a diamond ring my friend if it makes you feel alright / I'll get you anything my friend if it makes you feel alright / 'Cause I don't care too much for money, money can't buy me love "

Maybe that's what's happening with Man City right now. They have all the money one can only dream to have but still they can't get the wins that will bring more fans and possibly chances of titles.

Stoke doesn't have money but I have to admit that they at least last weekend they got the love. The Potters crashed the Spurs, PROVED ME WRONG, despite still being in a delicate situation they showed the they can steal some precious points from big teams and maybe, only maybe hold on to a spot among the big guns next season. Maybe...

GOBSMACK PREDICTION: Man City win (?) 3-0

Now I leave you with a song from those guys from Liverpool...
