Here we go again ! The United States national men's team wins the CONCACAF Gold Cup competition...again, beating Mexico 2-1, sunday.
Sixty thousand people at Soldier Field, in Chicago, will remember this event and the Alfred Hitchkock's type of suspense scenario. With Mexico scoring first, right before half-time, and a US team without great inspiration, the American fans could worry...
Hopefully, the penalty kick transformed by Landon Donovan (the best US player in this competition, according to me) at about half hour before the end, kicked the Americans back in the game. Feilhaber finished the job about 10 minutes later.
The USA wins its second Gold Cup title in a row, proving that soccer is not only a "latino" supremacy. Sure, Mexico is still a great soccer country...Now, coach Bradley's team is heading to Venezuela for the Copa America. Another Challenge. I'm sure the Americans have a good card to play at a competition where no one is expecting them to shine.

Uruguay or Brazil ? Argentina or Mexico ? I have to say, if you'd ask me to bet, I wouldn't know which team to put my money on. Stupidley, or blindly, I'd say Brazil and Argentina...but something's telling me it's not gonna be so obvious.
So for fun, I went online to read some articles on French newspapers (I'm French by the way). The thing is, they don't care about Copa America. No, to be more precise, they didn't care until the semi finals. The majority of the articles, though, deals with Brazil. And Robinho in particular, how he turned out to be the big star and the savior of the team, etc.
One mention was made about Cristian Rodriguez, the left midfield from Uruguay who actually play in Paris. OK, let's bet on Uruguay so...

OK, who would have bet on Mexico against Brazil ? Come on, don't be shy ! Certainly not me. Copa America offered us a great day with Mexico's victory 2-0 and the incredible Ecuador-Chile 2-3 scenario. Five spectacular goals on the one hand, and a huge and deserved surprise on the other hand.
Well, the first thing that come in mind is that, definitely, Brazil is not Brazil without its best artists. Ronaldinho and Kaka are not here, and it's simply not the same. The "auriverde" take 2 goals in a few minutes and then run out of luck facing a super mexican goal keeper and lacked realism. Now, the pressure will be intense on them.
The Chilians and the Ecuadorians surprised me. I loved the enthusiasm of this match. Of course, 5 goals and a great scenario are pleasing to anybody. Of course, the technical level of the game was not - how to say it nicely ? - the best ever seen, especially the defenders. But hey, let's just enjoy this competition. Today, I promise another big surprise in the match USA-Argentina !

Sunday's Gold Cup Final in Chicago is promissing: the US national men's team will try to hold their title versus Mexico. Both teams defeated Canada and French Guadaloupe in the semi finals yesterday.
The American victory (2-1) was highlighted by Landon Donovan's 33rd goal of his national career (and already his 11th at the Gold Cup !) and the 100th cap of Kasey Keller. The keeper tied the record set by the unforgetable Tony Meola.
"We are very excited to be in the final. As a group, we have worked very hard, said coach Bradley after the game. I feel very good that we are getting stronger, the mentality is getting better, and it is very important to be in the final". Facing Mexico, though, is probably more challenging than Canada.
