The season in five words

Monday, 12 May 08, 11:32 PM · Comments(0)

The Guardian has a neat summary of every EPL club this season in the form of a "Report Card". It's all nicely written there. Irritatingly, you need to go to the pages dedicated for the clubs and click on the "Report card" link. So, I thought it would be nice to put it up here.
There are various categories in the report card like On-pitch moment of the season, Off-pitch moment of the season, Greatest goal, Most embarrassing moment, The season in five words etc.
Click through the links for the full report cards while you enjoy "The season in five words"
Arsenal: Scintillating until squad depth exposed
Aston Villa: Good but can get better
Birmingham City: Has anyone seen Carson Yeung? [ Did anyone get it ? ]
Blackburn: Hughes continues to make strides
Bolton: Ugly, sterile, predictable, draining, relief
Chelsea: So near yet so far
Derby: Worst ever Premier League team
Everton: Further progress. Huge summer awaits
Fulham: Desperate. Frightening. Roy Hodgson. Exhilarating
Liverpool: Thank heavens for European football
Manchester City: Unique, Sven, bittersweet, Thailand, political [ bullocks! I'll write a better one: Great start but bitter finish ]
Manchester United: Glory, goals, Munich, harmony, Ronaldo
Middlesbrough: Contradictory, erratic, frustrating, enthralling, purist
Newcastle: Depressing, baffling, bizarre, soapy, improving
Portsmouth: The resurgence under Redknapp continues
Reading: Second-season syndrome strikes again
Sunderland: Tense, atmospheric, puzzling, exciting, satisfactory
Tottenham: Trophy soothes sense of underachievement
West Ham: Win or lose, they're 10th
Wigan: An awful start, excellent finish
