Bentley Is A Yid!

Tuesday, 01 July 08, 02:05 PM · Comments (520)

Goody gumdrops...

Sweet news. The boy Bentley is indeed coming to Tottenham Hotspur.

A large thank you to Big Yid who broke the news on here today. David Michael Bentley who underwent a medical Tuesday 24th of June 2008 at 9pm at Holly House Hospital, Buckhurst Hill, which the player passed without incident.

This also ties in with Little Dave's sightings which were posted yesterday. You may have a ring of security around your signings this season Mr Levy, but where there is a will, and there is a will, there is a way...

The delay in the announcement is anyone's guess.

Welcome home, David.

cheers for the update harry but i know plenty of players who have done a medical at one club and ended up at another so i suggest we remain calm as all is not at end. i believe it will happen though but as to when gets everyone confused and if it does THANK YOU for telling us in advance.

Another thing sorry to upset everyone but im too fond off keane for the good of the team although im pleased with the goals he gets i think he upsets the balance of the side and if we replace with a pacey striker i will be more than pleased as long as berba stays and crouch dosnt come

I think this is excellent news. I would loved Lennon to have progressed enough to be first choice, but we all know that his final ball is just not good enough. Bentley's delivery from wide is much better than Lennon and, whilst he doesn't possess the blistering pace, his movement is good.

I desperately hope we keep Keano. I am sure that Liverpool want him, but I dont think they have the money to get him, if they have to spend the rumoured amount on Barry. I don't think Crouch is Juande's type of player at all.

Have you any whispers on the Paraguayan centre back Nelso Cabrera, Harry? The team he plays for are managed by Ossie, which may give it a bit of substance. Or is it just media lies again?

TAKEN FROM RAMOS'S PAL GUILLEM BALAGUE'S PERSONAL WEBSITE

Spurs will return to work on the 3rd of July and plan to spend part of their pre-season in Spain, but there is one thing that is bothering everybody at the club: by that time, Juande Ramos and his staff had wanted to be able work with the final squad, but now that is not going to happen.

The slowness of the transfer market – in part due to this summer's tournament - means that Spurs have, up to now, only been able to add a couple of big names to the squad (Gio Dos Santos and Modric), while they have been unable to sell any of the players that Juande Ramos has identified as surplus to requirements.

Spurs want to sell Aaron Lennon and Berbatov and use that money to get a striker, a right winger and a defensive central midfield player. Depending on the money coming in, Ramos will choose from one of the goalkeepers targeted by the

As a partnership in the last two seasons they have been as good as any in the league. Berba has scored 46 goals in 101 games - where as Keane has 45 goals in 98 games - That's over 90 goals in just under 200 games (in all competitions) which is a phenomenal feat in itself. No one argue as strikers are judged on how many goals to games they score & Keane deserves as much credit as Berba... Added to his goals his assist and work rate along with overall team play are second to none... credit to both of them i say!

I realize that Keano is a legend, but if we are truly going to break into the top 4 then Keano is not the man to help us do it. He has too many off days, is short of a yard of pace, and misses too many one on ones to be a truly world class striker. In cricket they would call him a flat track bully.

Keano deserves a medal for his services and for getting us so close to the top 4, but he is never going to push us over the top. Lets take the money, and give some of it to Berbs to persuade him to stay.

There was an interview with Martin Jol a short while ago where he said that Robbie is one of the quickest players at Spurs. I seem to recall him burning (possibly) Gallas to score in the 5-1 drubbing and I can't understand why anyone would think he is not fast! Ok, he's not Torres, but very few are both that quick and that good an all-round striker. Robbie is no slouch whatsoever, and has other great aspects to his game.

To let him go would be an unmitigated DISASTER.

Angryyid you have a point in a sense about not being able to finish off teams, but I think an overall emphasis on defense, starting from the strikers through to the midfield and cutting out the preschool errors in the back four, would help us better reach our target of a top six finish. Ramos I'm sure, will see to remedying that, working with the team shape and what not. And where were the crucial goals from midfield last season? They were non-existent. The likes of Bentley and certainly Modric will help us keep the ball when we do score first and be able to provide creative attacking options when level or down. In Ramos, we trust...

LLTK26, you're right: Defoe is quicker.

AngryYid, I don't mind people having differing opinions, but when those opinions are bandied about the place with little rhyme or reason, you must expect some rebuttals.

Berbatov contributed 15 goals and 9 assists to our EPL campaign: a remarkable feat. So much so, that news of his imminent departure has spawned much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

But what was the boy wonder doing in this time? Chipping in with 15 goals and 5 assists. Not so far off Golden Boy, is it?

So, I take umbrage at: statements like: He'll be shit at Liverpool! Why? What is this based on?

All things considered, I think "do you watch football" is as polite a riposte as is deserved, and isn't stooping low by any stretch of the imagination. Now, had he said" "Your parents, they aren't brother and sister by any chance, are they", then you would have had a point.

i agree on different styles of play and keeping keano will help us do this;

Without him we cannot play Berbs on his todd (excuse the pun) as only Modric can really claim to be an offensive midfielder (he has bad ahir, whether thats offensive is debatable).

We must keep Keano to play different styles, this is why defoe went to the navy barracks

Is there a moral to this tale? If the signing of Bentley is a fact (and thanks to BigYid, Mrs BigYid and HH for the info), then is there a message in all of this?

I mean, why wouldn't Bentley, Dos Santos, Modric and (potentially) Capel go to a (current) top four club? Is it because some players (intelligent, maybe?) are beginning to feel a sense of revulsion at the Molochs swallowing up talented players? Is it because they recognise that life exists outside Man Yoo, C2e1sea, Ar5ena1 and Pool? Why not? Maybe a spirit of adventure and ambition still exists in a few intelligent players - qualities which they believe can be expressed and realised at Spurs.

I'm not unaware that there will be financial and material inducements to obtain the services of new players. Nor that, for some, the decision to sign may be based on convenience. But maybe there are some professionals who still desire to rise to a real challenge, rather than catch a lift on the easy, tried-and-tested ride of a big four juggernaut. Maybe they want to be part of Juande's 'project'.

No matter if Keane is going to Pool. If he is, it would be, for him, a decision based on emotion. Why else would he turn his back on what appear to be an exciting turn of events at the Lane?

Everyone in the Premier League bar the top four wants to see the the vice-like grip the top four have on their position broken. Spurs are deploying their troops for an assault on the citadel. Come on you Spurs!

Lennon's the fastest player at Spurs (apologies if someone already said that).
Anyway - I don't want Keane to go but I wouldn't begrudge him wanting to leave if LFC are really in for him. He's 27 and he wants a good few years shooting for the Champions League. He might get that with us but he will deffo get it with LFC - who he supported as a lad. Problem is LFC can't afford him. They can't afford Barry at the moment without selling Alonso. So how the F* can they afford the 20 mill it would take to shift Keano as well?

PS I reckon Berbs is off to Barca. Which means our entire midfield and attack and 2 of our defenders (King and Bale) will be different to last season - That is a nightmare scenario. Hello mid-table mediocrity - goodbye season ticket.

toddspur hopefully we will have a settled back line next season, players like Woodgate, Hutton & Bale are still fairly new, and if we can keep them fit along with King - our problems at the back could be solved once and for all!

angry@angryyid good name by the way. it simply is my opinion that we dont kill teams of and i just feel with a bit more pace up top especially late in games when can do so. its always us conceding late goals how about scoring a few for a change. i simply want a striker who can get one on one with the last defender and roast him not hold it up and wait for someone else. we are never gonna be a great defensive unit its not our style but we have good defenders maybe the midfield doesnt help at either end at vital stages. i agree where the crucial goals from the middle there wasnt many and like you said the signings will improve this but my point is simply to have a different outlet. THIS IS CONFIRMED ON THE SKY SPORTS WEBSITE:

Bentley is not a Yid. That may not surprise you much. However, what will surprise you is that neither are Modric, dos Santos or Gomes.

Yes, Sky Sports has unveiled the shocking transfer hoax that Messrs Levy and Ramos have pulled off. I decided to look at skysports.com's "completed transfers by league" section and found that none of the aforementioned players have been signed.

On a lighter note, the good news is that we have signed a player called Gilberto from Hertha for £2 (yes, that's TWO POUNDS!) and his namesake Gilberto da Silva for an undisclosed fee.

They really don't pay those poor blokes at skysports.com enough...

I honestly don't understand the disgruntled barrage of mutterings aimed at the strikeforce. It represents the cream of the Premiership in terms of results - and you can take that to the bank at 7% interest.

The fact that our defence doesn't turn up against weaker opposition is the reason we have relegation defensive stats, combined with Manchester United-esque attacking stats.

This article sums up perfectly what is wrong at Spurs: LINK

It's true that the top four and even the top continental sides prefer the 4-2-3-1 or 4-5-1 and they do thrive with it, but from what I've read about Ramos, he's a strict 4-4-2 man. And angryyid, I know what you mean about having pace on a counter when up by a goal, but Benty's proven that that doesn't always work as well as planned. It's not like you can pick up a pacy, dribbling, deadly finishing striker at the corner store. They're a little harder to come by. But what we do know with Ramos' former team is that he likes to play with the ball at pace, not necessarily with players with pace. I mean, he did have Kanoute up front, not exactly bags of pace there. Oh, and I've considered changing the name to notasangry@angryyidanymore, but it doesn't quite roll off the tongue does it?

Mainly because of how embaressed i was a few years ago when it was announced on sky sports news that we had signed duff. I started to put duff in the spurs team like wed signed him, whilst comparing him to my m8s everton player on the left etc.

then we didnt sign him, n he went to the barcodes.

well done on a great career move btw damien, no trophies, no european footy, n 3/4 of the season out injured.

Do any of you chaps know if the web-site profiles represent the internal squad role, of if there is a more tenuous link? I had felt that Dos Santos's role would have been AM/Wing but if his squad role is Forward/Striker then I don't envisage him starting too many matches alongside Keano.

Keano has been my favourite player virtually since he signed (I was gutted when he signed for Leeds as I thought we'd missed the boat), so I really hope that he stays! The man is world class - ask the president of Inter!

I would be very sad to see keane leave as he has been a great servant to the club and seeing him lift the cup last year was a high point in my life...however, i can see where angryyid is coming from. When we get infront in games which we do on a very regular basis we find it tough to hang on to the lead and kill teams off. This is imo down to several reasons, as we are all well aware we dont have a ball winner in midfield and the defensive (bar woodgate and king when he played) looked shaky and goals were frequently conceeded. But also because when we are hanging on in a game berba and keane are players who drop too deep and almost invite pressure onto us as teams know we dont have the ability to hit the ball over the top.
Last season spurs were far, far too one dimensional, we need options. If we hang on to our best players and continue to purchase players of the calibre we have done already in the positions we need, i think we'll suprise a few other sides next season and could do very well. Also, i am going to be in America for most of next season so i think we'll have our best season in recent memory because of that commonly known, sods law.

Anyways, good news on Bentley COYS!

A lot has been said about the Berbatov being a miserable whinging cunt, but at least he has the other player's ineptitude to fall back on. You have to admire Keane's work rate and passion, but on a lot of occasions the little fella looks down right clumsy. OK, he's scored 100 goals in 5 years, but that's what he's paid to do. Most half decent strikers should be scoring 20 goals a season in all competitions. I also haven't see Keane (or Berbatov for that matter) scoring many goals against the better teams, especially away from home. As I said, I don't want him to leave, but I'm not going to allow sentiment to get in the way of the truth that there are better strikers than Keane out there.

Robbie Keane has been one of the most consistent strikers our club has had in years. He creates chances for others. He's unselfish and an all round team player. He never gives up and is a real fighter. He shows massive love and respect for Tottenham.

All those of you suggesting otherwise are talking absolute bollocks which suggests to me that you don't see many matches or you're gooners in disguise.

To say it would make any sense whatsover to let him leave is utter shite I can't believe any of you are true Tottenham supporters.

Glad to hear the news. I have two theories as to why there is no announcement, one is that bentley hasn't signed official documents (tho we seem to have announced enough this summer without work permits let alone medicals and personal terms) so that brings me to the 2nd theory and that is that Lennon is going the other way and hasn't agreed terms, etc. or it could be a combination of both if both teams want to make sure there aren't complications.

Any other thoughts on this?

sicknote, especially for you. In the League, which is where we should be looking, top fucking four and all that, Keane totalled 13 goals (two were pens). He scored 6 against the top 10 teams home and away, 3 and 3. Although far from a disaster, especially as he was playing in front of a bunch of cunts, it's hardly prolific. Once more, I like Keane, but all the jumping up and down, finger wagging, badge kissing, Tottenham loving, potato growing in the world cannot dispute the fact that he's good, but not great.

On the Keane situation - I personally love the bloke and would hate to see him go. But as food for thought... what if JonRam's looking to go 4-3-3 next term, much the way the Germans played in Euro (Podolski and Bastian S. behind Klose up front)? If so, Berb (assuming he stays) or Bent could opperate alone up front with GDS and Bentley on the wings. No need for Keane then. Middle 3 would be Mod, JJ, Thudd (or Zok/Steed), with Hutton & Bale as WB's. Just a thought.

It will take 2 or 3 years to get where we want to be and that is only if we have a bit of stability. Things seem to be moving in the right direction so let's sit back enjoy the football. At least we won something last year - unlike Chelsea and Arsenal.

God bless tombo.... he's getting all angry about one of his clubs players wanting to leave the pits of Blackburn for the bright lights of the big smoke!! I mean doesnt he know the streets are paved with gold in london town???

Or the fact could be that bored with playing for a team that has been punching above its weight due to a very shrewd, clever manager in Mark Hughes, Bentley has now seen that Blackburn could be the next club to hit the slippery slope of the relegation zone. Eager to not get stuck with another Norwich situation Bentley has decided to join a club thats hitting the gas and determined to push for a top 4 finish. OH..... AND WE HAVE EURPOPEAN FOOTBALL!!

In all seriousness we have seen it happen before. A club has a great manager who does fantastic with the resources he is given. The manager leaves, the best players see that the manager was the one making them the team they were, they leave. The club replaces the manager and players with second rate individuals. The club gets sucked into the relagation zone and in the worst case scenario, gets relegated.

As much as i like Ince i think the Blackburn job may be too much too soon for him and if Blackburn lose Bentley, Santa Cruz and a few other players then i fully expect to see them struggle this year!

Glad to see someone from the club has come out to rubbish the story about keano. I think some of these journalists should be prosecuted sometimes for making these rumours up.

HoxtonBoy, less of the pragmatism, please. A good start is the key, and if Ramos can get the team gelling quickly, who knows? The way we're going, nearly half the team will have had no Premier League experience, so depending on how quickly they can adapt will also be a factor.

Pleased about Bentley and I think this squad is already better than the one that missed out on CL footy on the last day of the season.

Seems very quiet on the DM front, perhaps Modric might be earmarked for the role?

I cant see Modric being the CDM. He is very much the playmaker and will be used to orchestrate the attacks.

I agree about the squad. Wwith the addition of Bentley, Modric, GDS and maybe Bostock aswell as Hudd & JJ our midfield has alot of options that we haven't had for a very long time. I also think Ramos will get Capel before the window shuts.

After watchin Modric in the Euro's and what we know of Bentley and GDS AND Bale & Hutton the delivery from wide positions and the incisive passing from midfield that Modric will give us will create many more chances for Keano, Berba (i think he'll stay). We know that if u give players like that good service then they will put the chances away.

CANT WAIT FOR THE PRE-SEASONS TO START!!

Could be that Hudd has listened to Ramos when told to sort his weight out. Maybe Ramos is pleased with Hudds progression and could ask him to fill the CDM role.

Only problem i see is that Hudd isnt very mobile and have never seen much of his tackling. If Hudd was told to just concentrate on doing that ONE posiiton then he could grow into it.

The worst case scenario could be that Zokora is CDM. Lots of energy and closing down but not as good as a passer of the ball as Hudd and not such an immovable object as Hudd either.

Add to this the talk of all our strikers leaving- we could be starting next year with 6 new players in first team (Gk, 3 midfielders and 2 strikers) + return of bale who will be like new signing!
Some will say this is to much change but to be honest we have long needed a major re-shuffle- if the likes of Jenas and zorkora etc are left on the bench next season i will be well chuffed!
Would luv to see a defensive midfielder brought in to complete our new midfield four, maybe asking to much but you never know....

Kaboul is not inept. He was dropped in at the deep end at the beginning of last season and we were forced to field him alongside the relatively inexperienced Dawson, an makeshift out-of-position left back and behind an inadequate defensive midfield/er. Too many are too quick to judge some of our younger players.

Diarra has, again, publically affirmed his intention to stay at Portsmouth.

I would expect Rocha to leave WHL ahead of Kaboul.

How can he expect to drop his wages?? I read an article in the guardian last week stating that Blackburn were in the red financially speaking. Jack Walker's holding company have withdrawn their funding for the first time since he bought the club. Blackburn do not sell out week in week out and combined with their relatively low income area, they cannot put their prices up, this does not spell good financial news for Blackburn. The likelihood is that Blackburn will have to take offers for their better players in order to keep the club funded. I expect players like Santa Cruz and Bentley to be on their way out before the start of the season.

And as for Spurs having little cash left, I find this very hard to believe. The board is backing Ramos big time and if they hae just had a bid for £12.5m turned down for Capel i do not see this as Spurs running out of money.

The imminent clearout will raise more funds and Ramos will be given whats raised from those sales to reinforce his squad. If you look at the funds we can raise by selling unwanted players and the fact that we obviously have £12.5m to spend already it shows that we have enough money to buy Bentley if needed to.

Bentley has let the board know he wants to leave. Spurs are obviously in the market for him, Blackburn are selling and Spurs are buying, is it not conceivable that Blackburn have let him take the medical as a transfer is imminent??

I kind of agree with u on the Kaboul front but i just think that he is another player who is shellshocked by our early season form. Robbo obviosuly suffered more than most and wil need to leave to resurrect his career and get his head back on track.

I feel the same can be said for Kaboul. He looked stunned in some games and whilst still having potential his comments about Ramos have obvioulsy not helped his cause. Ramos doesn't like the look of him and unfortunately for Kaboul what Ramos says seems to be the gospel at the moment.

Its a shame that he cannot fulfil his potential at Spurs but i think in this stage of the Tottenham 'project' we cannot be found waiting for players to come good. We need players who are going to make an instant impact and players who Ramos wants at the club

Kaboul isnt one of them.

Lets take the conversation away from dire discussions about finance - I get enough of that at work. Lets talk more like the football fans we are. Saying we have got Bentley (and Harry I will be heart broken if its not true as I am going to take it as a given) what will the team be next season? What else do we need? What is the difference between us and the top four? Apart from - as you say Harry - the fact we are Tottenham (Super Tottenham from the Lane). The obvious aim of all this money spending is to get us into the top four. But lets be honest with ourrselves, are we going to have enough to compete with Gerrard, Rooney, Torres, Fabregas, Adebayor, Essien, Lampard, Deco, Scholes, Park, Ronaldo (!?), Rosicky, Mascherano, Obi Mikel, Van Persie, Ballack... You may well laugh at some of the players I have included there (Obi Mikel, Park, Mascherano..) but they are great players. I think you would be naive to say that Tottenham would not take anyone of them. Personally I would bite Kenyon or Gill arm off for either one of those players - and they are not even really the big timers.

Can we compete? What else do we need? Or a we just going to end up a very good cup team?

Paul Ince expects David Bentley to stay at Blackburn this summer after holding crunch talks with the England man.

Ince made it clear from his very first day in charge of Rovers that he would seek out both Bentley and Roque Santa Cruz in order to outline his vision for the future.

Bentley has made no secret of his desire to leave Ewood Park, claiming he wants to play at the highest level, and he has been linked with Liverpool, Tottenham and Aston Villa.

However, Ince has now spoken with his talisman, and he is hopeful Bentley will report for the new season.

“We are obviously going to have to deal with a lot of speculation,” Ince told the Lancashire Telegraph.

“But as far as I’m concerned, I want David here next season and I’m looking forward to seeing him on July 7 for pre-season training.”

Meanwhile, Ince admitted he is working round the clock in order to introduce ‘one or two’ new faces to Blackburn, with Heerenveen midfielder Michael Bradley, Turkish wideman Ugur Boral, Sweden international Fredrik Stoor and Tottenham’s Aaron Lennon all linked.

“Obviously I’d like to bring in one or two new acquisitions because that would help to freshen things up, which I feel is important,” said Ince.

“I’ve been making plenty of phonecalls and following up various leads but, at this moment in time, there’s nothing concrete to report.”

Seems to me that there is a bit of a coincidence developing here.

Harry, maybe you shouldn't post all that you hear or read.

THBN did the same thing and they looked like mugs when they announced it. Now, they look like Mystic Meg, as they announced that Bentley had his medical a few days before the 24th.

It amazes me where some teams money goes. Take Blackburn for example, they get a lot of dough from Sky every year, yet, they always seem to need to sell in order to buy.

Why is that so?

I know that they only get about 72 people in a Ewood Park, but that still doesn't make sense to me.

They need a new commercial director. I'm interested Mr. Williams!!

ramos needs to work hard on our defence. he is clearly trying to help by adding players in midfield who can tackle (unlike lennon, jenas who are both good at going forward only).

we scored a lot of goals and this will hopefully continue. if we can stop conceding so many we should have a very good chance.

villa and blacburn should be a weaker prospect next season and everton will stay very much the same (lack of funds). west ham will not compete.

so in theory, we still need to push off efforts from everton and city and hope that liverpool and arsenal lose points (more so than last year).

if the above happens then we will finish in top 4.

Shaney T. I know what you mean. Looking at our team sheet at the moment its hard not to feel optimistic. However, it just seems for every exciting player we have all the other teams (at the top) seem to have a couple more. Do rememeber that Chelsea FA cup game when we were leading (I can only remember Hossam Ghaly's goal) and then Jose just chucked on about 60 million pounds worth of players. We didn't stand a chance. We have a large and decent squad but say a couple of injuries hit us or a player doesn't prove to be quite as useful as we thought (Boateng, Zokora, Kaboul, Gilberto, Bent, Lennon, Murphy...). Could I be adding Gomes, Capel, Dos Santos to that list? I was so optimistic about Zokora and Boateng but my enthusiasm was cruched after a while.

I agree on the DM part. I think we also need a CB - then we really would have a quality 'first' 11.

Gomes

Hutton CB Woody Bale

Bentley Modric DM Dos Santos

Keane Berbatov

Have to wonder how that team would fair against Wigan, Bolton, Chelsea and all the other dirters. It looks like a great team, but you need some subs there becasue it is a young team and I'll bet quite a few of those players will go missing regularly. I personally think we need two more 26-30 year olds. People with a bit experience. We benefited greatly when E Davids first came - added a bit of a winners mentality.

Can't think of anyone though? Then again I'm not the manager. Frings? Senna? Tiago? Alonso? Gattuso? Ambrosini?

BigSoccerFan. The essence of this sight is not purely to provide news and fact. This site is a blog - to discuss issues surrounding Tottenham.

The people who come on hear enjoy deliberating over a lot of trash about spurs - I am included in that. We know full well a lot of what we're talking is rubbish and hypothetical, but are you telling me you don't enjoy talking and reading a bit of trash every so often? I have a fairly intense job - not at the moment mind you - so talking spurs is somewhat of a break and a hobby. This site - of what I've found - is generally the best blog (and occasionally a reliable source of news).

You've come on here giving it the whole high and mighty I know best bollocks. You're absolutely no better though. No better informed. No more knowledgable. Your just being a bit of twat. SOmebody has (possibly) had a primary source which implies Bentley could be moving to Tottenham. You have a mate who is a Journo. Whats better? Really not worth discussing.

I guess the gist of what I'm trying to say is: sod of SoccerPerson.

Agree, another defender is required. Dunne, Diaz or Cuellar would be my guess.

I've heard that there is a list of DM's were looking at with Veloso being at the top along with Palombo and Ernst. Im quite confident that we have made an offer for Veloso, but so have Milan. Lets hope beauty is subjecive in this instance.

Not winning that particular Chelsea game was more down to tactical deficiency than personnel.

Not so sure Dos Santos was bought to play on the left, I believe he will be our 4th striker. If we do sign Capel this will only confirm this in my mind.

BigSOCCERFanMe,

Read what you posted:

"As for Bentley...I find it impossible to believe he would go for a medical and risk being seen - that would be an illegal approach. Spurs are obviously trying to do something here, but they don't have the cash to buy him. It would HAVE to be a swap. In fact he will probably have to take less wages there than he could have got at Rovers"

Firstly, what BigYid said was that his bird, who works in the hospital that the medical may or may not have been conducted, checked the records and confirmed that they had a David Bentley have a medical on Tuesday. Not last week or at WHL (as was mentioned on the thread that you posted).

Secondly, your ITK discusses HIS OPINION, NOT an inside source. Therefore, how can you say you believe him anymore than any old person on the street saying “I find it hard to believe Man Utd will not sell Ronaldo”. That’s bullshit it’s no more reliable.

Thirdly, he goes on to suggest that we do not have the finances to either buy or meet his wage demands. Whilst it’s true we have a strict wage structure in place, I imagine he’ll match the top wage earners and I sincerely doubt that Blackburn could exceed that. Now that’s my opinion as I haven’t a clue how much Blackburn pay. I just doubt they could match a club that is in the top 15 richest in the world, which played in Europe last season, won a cup and has the second richest owner in the premiership. We have spent less than we did last season and as Jamiespurs mentioned we just had a 12.5 million bid for Capel rejected so we hardly skint!

Whilst you’re right your ITK doesn’t have advertising or even his paper to sell, he is only giving his opinion and I take that as I do any story or info from an ITK and that with a pinch of salt till I see the player holding the shirt.

I suggest you leave these nice people and their hopes and aspirations alone and you go back to discussions about signing a right back on that incredibly boring link you posted…

The bentley thing was mentioned on tottenham world as well, there is definetly a strong rumour goin round on this one. I dont understand why people are saying he has had medical, it wouldnt make sense would it when there would appears to be no fee agreed between the clubs and Ince has been quoted as saying he is hoping bentley will stay. Even if Bently had told Ince he still wanted to leave, there is still a process ot go through before a medical can take place yeah? Fee agreed, terms agreed etc etc? To be honest i wouldnt be that sad if this signing doesnt happen, i dont like the players attitude, i mean will he wanna dump us after a year or so? For the first time ever i dont really care who Tottenham sells and brings in, i have complete confidence in the job Ramos is gonna do with us and if he decided to replace all our current strikers so be it. I personally dont rate Gomes that much but if Ramos thinks he is the answer then thats fine by me.

Dunne was what I was hoping for. He's a leader, he is strong, excellent positioning, brings a bit of experiennce, and I think he would complement the class of Woody. Not sure if it is going to happen with Hughes in charge - he strikes me as a fairly convincing character.

I'm not surprised about Veloso. And even though its only a list at the moment, at least it shows we're looking. I see it as a problem are for us at the moment.

I thought Dos Santos was primarily a striker. But when I heard he came to Tottenham to play a lot of first team games I assumed they would find a different position to accomodate him. Thinking that he wouldn't be able to dislodge Keane or Berba. He can't be the replacement for either of those to, surely.

I've also heard he plays AMR - and likes to cut in a lot. But then why would we be going for bentley?

I know what you mean about the Chelsea game - I just think we stil haven't got fantastic depth. I reckon we should get a couple of old but experienced farts on the cheap. Gilberto wasn't a terrible call for cover me thinks.

I think Dos Santos confirmed recently that he will be playing as a 'number 10'. Yeah he can play on the right too. His flexibility and ability to play in numerous attacking positions has made him a savvy investment IMO.

Bentley will most certainly be bought in to start on the right, with Lennon providing cover and an impact option from the bench.

Providing we get Bentley, another CB and a DM I think we will have a very good squad too. Jenas, Malbranque, Zokora and Huddlestone providing midfield cover.

Is looking good to me.

DeWolf1974, you are old enough and wise enough to know the answer to your own question, I assume your here to vent some kind of anger in the form of a rhetoric, following up with an argument. If you really want to know (and I assume you don't) Take a look here LINK or alternatively here LINK

Harry

Know the song, but not the slickers version.

Only version I can think of is UB40 but not sure if I should admit that

Yes I have been to the lane, whats your point, let me get something straight I agree there are lots of Spurs who are Jewish but not all of them. Jewish fans are a minority I wouldnt say they majority, what I get fed up with is being told constantly Spurs fans are all Jewish which we are not

It has nothing to do with the amount of jewish supporters or directors the club has, after all it was started by the arse who probably have as many as us, but because of the close proximity of a large Hassidic Jewish community.

After all, in most cases, how would you tell a Jewish Spurs supporter from any other.

I have no problems being called a yid, I'm not Jewish I'm a Spurs supporter. If I was Jewish I might find the term offensive outside of football.

in the 1980's rival fans chanted anti semetic abuse at the Spurs fans because of their Jewish support in the Haringey/Stamford Hill area. Spurs fans then adopted the derogatory terms 'yids'or 'yiddos' as unoffical nicknames in defiance at these chants to deflect the racist attacks of other clubs. For your further information we have also had Jewish owners in the past and in fact Arsenal presently have a Jewish connection in the boardroom and actually have many Jewish supporters (they are afterall our neighbours whether we like it or not!).
I took this information from MEHSTG by the way.

It's a tiresome debate; The club has a name and its a proud one, Tottenham Hotspur, let;s use that. Supporters of the club are Spurs/Tottenham fans. If some describe themselves individually or collectively as a 'Yid', or 'Yid Army', then that is up to them, but not all Spurs fans do by any means. Having said that, why take offence when someone does refer to you as one; It's not a derogatory term.

Agreed DEWOLF1974, im sposed to be working and instead im getting paid to write sh@te on this site! LOL
Back to the Bentley subject, i do think we have chance of getting him if Blackburn accept a bid but i think all this talk of medicals having taken place etc are rubbish.
Im my opinion Blackburn should charge us a fortune for him (if we are indeed in for him) as we should Liverpool and Man U for our players (Keane and Berbatov). Every club and its fans think they have a right to other clubs players dont you think?! The clubs who lose thier best players (against their wishes) should be compensated with large transfer fees accordinly. ANyone agreed?

angryyid - problems with your argument viz. Keane:
1 - The problem with the team is a general one regarding lack of creativity from midfield. Ramos mentioned this many times last year. Keaen and Berbs. both link well with midfield. in a more creative midfield only one linking player would be needed. So, if one goes, one should stay. Simple.
2 - Berbatov, or Mr Dantchev, has been very vocal about wanting to leave, meaning most Spurs fans expect it. The possibility of Keane leaving is a huge shock. I have always been surprised that fewer clubs have come sniffing. But he has been at the club far longer than Berbs, vocalised how settled he feels, and that he would be happy to spend his career here. This means that if one were to go, and the other should stay it is logical to expect it to be Keane. The possibility of losing both, and Bent, meaning the forward line has to be reconstructed, as well as the midfield, which is ongoing is a bridge too far for some. As a Spurs fan you should be concerned by this, whatever your personal feelings about Keane. Personally, if next year, Ramos decided it was necessary to sell Keane in order to purchase a forward who conforms to his vision more, i would accept it. Just not now. As it is, Ramos has stated that Keane is an untouchable. How will the club look if he says this and then Keane is sold? Don't you care about that?

In regard to Bent: I have said all along, keep Lennon as competition. The problem is, however, that Bentley has performed against the best in the land - both in crossing and in goals he has delivered. Lennon, while he has pace and a bit of trickery, as yet has failed to add final product. Bentley has done this performing for 'functional' teams. He is at the age where we say, traditionally, there is still room to improve. How anyone can imagine this would be a bad signing is beyond my ken!
