Bentley Is A Yid!

Tuesday, 01 July 08, 08:05 PM · Comments (520)

Goody gumdrops...

Sweet news. The boy Bentley is indeed coming to Tottenham Hotspur.

A large thank you to Big Yid who broke the news on here today. David Michael Bentley who underwent a medical Tuesday 24th of June 2008 at 9pm at Holly House Hospital, Buckhurst Hill, which the player passed without incident.

This also ties in with Little Dave's sightings which were posted yesterday. You may have a ring of security around your signings this season Mr Levy, but where there is a will, and there is a will, there is a way...

The delay in the announcement is anyone's guess.

Welcome home, David.

cheers for the update harry but i know plenty of players who have done a medical at one club and ended up at another so i suggest we remain calm as all is not at end. i believe it will happen though but as to when gets everyone confused and if it does THANK YOU for telling us in advance.

Another thing sorry to upset everyone but im too fond off keane for the good of the team although im pleased with the goals he gets i think he upsets the balance of the side and if we replace with a pacey striker i will be more than pleased as long as berba stays and crouch dosnt come

I think this is excellent news. I would loved Lennon to have progressed enough to be first choice, but we all know that his final ball is just not good enough. Bentley's delivery from wide is much better than Lennon and, whilst he doesn't possess the blistering pace, his movement is good.

I desperately hope we keep Keano. I am sure that Liverpool want him, but I dont think they have the money to get him, if they have to spend the rumoured amount on Barry. I don't think Crouch is Juande's type of player at all.

Have you any whispers on the Paraguayan centre back Nelso Cabrera, Harry? The team he plays for are managed by Ossie, which may give it a bit of substance. Or is it just media lies again?

TAKEN FROM RAMOS'S PAL GUILLEM BALAGUE'S PERSONAL WEBSITE

Spurs will return to work on the 3rd of July and plan to spend part of their pre-season in Spain, but there is one thing that is bothering everybody at the club: by that time, Juande Ramos and his staff had wanted to be able work with the final squad, but now that is not going to happen.

The slowness of the transfer market – in part due to this summer's tournament - means that Spurs have, up to now, only been able to add a couple of big names to the squad (Gio Dos Santos and Modric), while they have been unable to sell any of the players that Juande Ramos has identified as surplus to requirements.

Spurs want to sell Aaron Lennon and Berbatov and use that money to get a striker, a right winger and a defensive central midfield player. Depending on the money coming in, Ramos will choose from one of the goalkeepers targeted by the

As a partnership in the last two seasons they have been as good as any in the league. Berba has scored 46 goals in 101 games - where as Keane has 45 goals in 98 games - That's over 90 goals in just under 200 games (in all competitions) which is a phenomenal feat in itself. No one argue as strikers are judged on how many goals to games they score & Keane deserves as much credit as Berba... Added to his goals his assist and work rate along with overall team play are second to none... credit to both of them i say!

I realize that Keano is a legend, but if we are truly going to break into the top 4 then Keano is not the man to help us do it. He has too many off days, is short of a yard of pace, and misses too many one on ones to be a truly world class striker. In cricket they would call him a flat track bully.

Keano deserves a medal for his services and for getting us so close to the top 4, but he is never going to push us over the top. Lets take the money, and give some of it to Berbs to persuade him to stay.

There was an interview with Martin Jol a short while ago where he said that Robbie is one of the quickest players at Spurs. I seem to recall him burning (possibly) Gallas to score in the 5-1 drubbing and I can't understand why anyone would think he is not fast! Ok, he's not Torres, but very few are both that quick and that good an all-round striker. Robbie is no slouch whatsoever, and has other great aspects to his game.

To let him go would be an unmitigated DISASTER.

Angryyid you have a point in a sense about not being able to finish off teams, but I think an overall emphasis on defense, starting from the strikers through to the midfield and cutting out the preschool errors in the back four, would help us better reach our target of a top six finish. Ramos I'm sure, will see to remedying that, working with the team shape and what not. And where were the crucial goals from midfield last season? They were non-existent. The likes of Bentley and certainly Modric will help us keep the ball when we do score first and be able to provide creative attacking options when level or down. In Ramos, we trust...

LLTK26, you're right: Defoe is quicker.

AngryYid, I don't mind people having differing opinions, but when those opinions are bandied about the place with little rhyme or reason, you must expect some rebuttals.

Berbatov contributed 15 goals and 9 assists to our EPL campaign: a remarkable feat. So much so, that news of his imminent departure has spawned much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

But what was the boy wonder doing in this time? Chipping in with 15 goals and 5 assists. Not so far off Golden Boy, is it?

So, I take umbrage at: statements like: He'll be shit at Liverpool! Why? What is this based on?

All things considered, I think "do you watch football" is as polite a riposte as is deserved, and isn't stooping low by any stretch of the imagination. Now, had he said" "Your parents, they aren't brother and sister by any chance, are they", then you would have had a point.

i agree on different styles of play and keeping keano will help us do this;

Without him we cannot play Berbs on his todd (excuse the pun) as only Modric can really claim to be an offensive midfielder (he has bad ahir, whether thats offensive is debatable).

We must keep Keano to play different styles, this is why defoe went to the navy barracks

Is there a moral to this tale? If the signing of Bentley is a fact (and thanks to BigYid, Mrs BigYid and HH for the info), then is there a message in all of this?

I mean, why wouldn't Bentley, Dos Santos, Modric and (potentially) Capel go to a (current) top four club? Is it because some players (intelligent, maybe?) are beginning to feel a sense of revulsion at the Molochs swallowing up talented players? Is it because they recognise that life exists outside Man Yoo, C2e1sea, Ar5ena1 and Pool? Why not? Maybe a spirit of adventure and ambition still exists in a few intelligent players - qualities which they believe can be expressed and realised at Spurs.

I'm not unaware that there will be financial and material inducements to obtain the services of new players. Nor that, for some, the decision to sign may be based on convenience. But maybe there are some professionals who still desire to rise to a real challenge, rather than catch a lift on the easy, tried-and-tested ride of a big four juggernaut. Maybe they want to be part of Juande's 'project'.

No matter if Keane is going to Pool. If he is, it would be, for him, a decision based on emotion. Why else would he turn his back on what appear to be an exciting turn of events at the Lane?

Everyone in the Premier League bar the top four wants to see the the vice-like grip the top four have on their position broken. Spurs are deploying their troops for an assault on the citadel. Come on you Spurs!

Lennon's the fastest player at Spurs (apologies if someone already said that).
Anyway - I don't want Keane to go but I wouldn't begrudge him wanting to leave if LFC are really in for him. He's 27 and he wants a good few years shooting for the Champions League. He might get that with us but he will deffo get it with LFC - who he supported as a lad. Problem is LFC can't afford him. They can't afford Barry at the moment without selling Alonso. So how the F* can they afford the 20 mill it would take to shift Keano as well?

PS I reckon Berbs is off to Barca. Which means our entire midfield and attack and 2 of our defenders (King and Bale) will be different to last season - That is a nightmare scenario. Hello mid-table mediocrity - goodbye season ticket.

toddspur hopefully we will have a settled back line next season, players like Woodgate, Hutton & Bale are still fairly new, and if we can keep them fit along with King - our problems at the back could be solved once and for all!

angry@angryyid good name by the way. it simply is my opinion that we dont kill teams of and i just feel with a bit more pace up top especially late in games when can do so. its always us conceding late goals how about scoring a few for a change. i simply want a striker who can get one on one with the last defender and roast him not hold it up and wait for someone else. we are never gonna be a great defensive unit its not our style but we have good defenders maybe the midfield doesnt help at either end at vital stages. i agree where the crucial goals from the middle there wasnt many and like you said the signings will improve this but my point is simply to have a different outlet. SORRY to who ive affended but its just the way i feel but saying so i am 1000% confident with ramos

THIS IS CONFIRMED ON THE SKY SPORTS WEBSITE:

Bentley is not a Yid. That may not surprise you much. However, what will surprise you is that neither are Modric, dos Santos or Gomes.

Yes, Sky Sports has unveiled the shocking transfer hoax that Messrs Levy and Ramos have pulled off. I decided to look at skysports.com's "completed transfers by league" section and found that none of the aforementioned players have been signed.

On a lighter note, the good news is that we have signed a player called Gilberto from Hertha for £2 (yes, that's TWO POUNDS!) and his namesake Gilberto da Silva for an undisclosed fee.

They really don't pay those poor blokes at skysports.com enough...

I honestly don't understand the disgruntled barrage of mutterings aimed at the strikeforce. It represents the cream of the Premiership in terms of results - and you can take that to the bank at 7% interest.

The fact that our defence doesn't turn up against weaker opposition is the reason we have relegation defensive stats, combined with Manchester United-esque attacking stats.

This article sums up perfectly what is wrong at Spurs: LINK

It's true that the top four and even the top continental sides prefer the 4-2-3-1 or 4-5-1 and they do thrive with it, but from what I've read about Ramos, he's a strict 4-4-2 man. And angryyid, I know what you mean about having pace on a counter when up by a goal, but Benty's proven that that doesn't always work as well as planned. It's not like you can pick up a pacy, dribbling, deadly finishing striker at the corner store. They're a little harder to come by. But what we do know with Ramos' former team is that he likes to play with the ball at pace, not necessarily with players with pace. I mean, he did have Kanoute up front, not exactly bags of pace there. Oh, and I've considered changing the name to notasangry@angryyidanymore, but it doesn't quite roll off the tongue does it?

Mainly because of how embaressed i was a few years ago when it was announced on sky sports news that we had signed duff. I started to put duff in the spurs team like wed signed him, whilst comparing him to my m8s everton player on the left etc.

then we didnt sign him, n he went to the barcodes.

well done on a great career move btw damien, no trophies, no european footy, n 3/4 of the season out injured.

Do any of you chaps know if the web-site profiles represent the internal squad role, of if there is a more tenuous link? I had felt that Dos Santos's role would have been AM/Wing but if his squad role is Forward/Striker then I don't envisage him starting too many matches alongside Keano.

Keano has been my favourite player virtually since he signed (I was gutted when he signed for Leeds as I thought we'd missed the boat), so I really hope that he stays! The man is world class - ask the president of Inter!

I would be very sad to see keane leave as he has been a great servant to the club and seeing him lift the cup last year was a high point in my life...however, i can see where angryyid is coming from. When we get infront in games which we do on a very regular basis we find it tough to hang on to the lead and kill teams off. This is imo down to several reasons, as we are all well aware we dont have a ball winner in midfield and the defensive (bar woodgate and king when he played) looked shaky and goals were frequently conceeded. But also because when we are hanging on in a game berba and keane are players who drop too deep and almost invite pressure onto us as teams know we dont have the ability to hit the ball over the top.
Last season spurs were far, far too one dimensional, we need options. If we hang on to our best players and continue to purchase players of the calibre we have done already in the positions we need, i think we'll suprise a few other sides next season and could do very well. Also, i am going to be in America for most of next season so i think we'll have our best season in recent memory because of that commonly known, sods law.

Anyways, good news on Bentley COYS!

A lot has been said about the Berbatov being a miserable whinging cunt, but at least he has the other player's ineptitude to fall back on. You have to admire Keane's work rate and passion, but on a lot of occasions the little fella looks down right clumsy. OK, he's scored 100 goals in 5 years, but that's what he's paid to do. Most half decent strikers should be scoring 20 goals a season in all competitions. I also haven't see Keane (or Berbatov for that matter) scoring many goals against the better teams, especially away from home. As I said, I don't want him to leave, but I'm not going to allow sentiment to get in the way of the truth that there are better strikers than Keane out there.
