Spurs 'Big Names To Be Auctioned Off' By Next Friday

Saturday, 25 October 08, 02:10 AM · Comments (38)

But the good news is it's only their autographs...

Courtesy of our friends the Tottenham Legends I am able to bring you what can only be reffered to as an opportunity of a lifetime. A Grand Auction is taking place next Friday the 31st of October at Wodson Park Football Club in Herts.

Little use to those who don't happen to live 'up the road' I hear you say... This blog's global, H.

Well we've set up a Sealed Bid option so even if you live in Kuala Lumpur you can still be involved. All you need to do is decide which lot you fancy having a Sealed Bid on and email in your bid in. It couldn't be simpler.

The Lots are as follows:

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR PRINT: LEGENDS OF WHITE HART LANE Signed by Pat Jennings, Ralph Coates, Ossie Ardilles, Glenn Hoddle, Cliff Jones, Gary Mabbut, Maurice Norman, Dave MacKay, Clive and Cliff Jones.

.

bid

MATCH BALL Signed by sixteen of the current Tottenham Hotspur  first squad.

bid

HOME SHIRT 08/09 Signed by sixteen of the current Tottenham Hotspur first squad.

bid

bid

PREMIERSHIP BALL Signed by Peter Shilton

bid

So there you have it. Wodson Park are a voluntary football club providing football playing and coaching opportunities to some 250 youngsters and three adult teams. All proceeds will go to the continued purchase of much needed footballs and equipment for the club.

So choose your Lot(s) and email in your sealed bid to pauljcoates@virgin.net. After the auction has taken place on each Lot, the sealed bids will only then be opened and the highest bidder will win that Lot.

Good luck!

Makes me weep, stuff of legend. The current one I wouldn't take for free if I was lucky enough to win the signed print. Bit it is for charity! Any idea of how much it will go for? I doubt my petty bid will win, so good luck to the lucky Yid who gets it!

I'd take any grade 2 legends at the moment, so bad are we. Bring back John Pratt, Chris Jones, Terry Naylor et al, the current lot are totally devoid of confidence.

It was all Gareth Bale could do to stand up on Thursday, let alone kick a football. The red card from Stoke will do him a favour as he couldn't possibly have made the side for Bolton.

Tomorrow is the biggest game since Luton 1975. I can't see any way back if we lose. If we do then it would certainly have to signal the end for Ramos.

Please will he drop Jenas tomorrow. Every time you see him, he looks like he is about to cry and that is the supporters' job. Is there nobody in the reserves who could come in and play without fear?

I. Sack Commolli and don't replace him.

2. Decide now how many points we need by say the end of December and if we haven't got them remove Juande.

3. Bring in a British Manager a la Rednapp , Hodgson, Kinear, Pleat or Peter Taylor and give him carte blanche to buy who he needs in January to steady the ship.

Totally agree with onedavemackay on points 1 and 2 but would be a bit more selective over who we bring in if Ramos has to go.
Peter Taylor with Gus could be a very good move, but start getting Clive Allen directly involved with the first team too.
This man is a goal scoring legend and perhaps he could pass that on to one or two of the others!!
Levy is to blame for allowing Comolli to cock up the whole 1st team squad.
He brought in many average players that an average manager had to make a team of.
Having removed Jol, Ramos arrives (with more clout than his predecessor), outs some of Comolli's men, brings in a load of fresh talent but still hasn't got the team's balance right!
I've seen bigger 8 year old mascots than Modric trot out on a Saturday afternoon!!
The poor bloke can't play his game because there's no physical presence in midfield to protect him.
He's always likely to be kicked into row D and he plays like he knows it.
Whoever is responsible for geting rid of Steed should be either instantly dismissed or resign immediately.
That one act alone shows a total lack of nouse with regards our team's needs.
The whole Berbatov issue is a total lie regarding the 'couldn't replace him as too late in the day' excuse.
Levy should have let him go to manure for 28m and we'd have sold him in June, giving us 2 months to get a replacement.
But oh no, the bald petulant one was going to live up to his reputation and flex his muscle because we loss Carrick to them for 18m (which personally I thought was bloody good, bearing in mind how slow he is on the ball and is totally thick).
So well done, Dan.
You stuck to your guns, managed to squeeze another 3m out of Fergie and now we may well lose tens of millions by getting relegated.
What a brilliant chairman you are.
C*NT!!!
Anyway, apologies for digressing.

Just a few (and I mean, just a few) of my opinions of why we are where we are.
God help us!

FROM ARCHIBALD ON SPURS ODYSSEY:

In relation to Levy's USA trip.....

It was to do with our new stadium and an idea they use in big stadiums in USA.

The fan takes out a mortgage term on the seat.

They still pay X per year and can sell to another person but the club get the term up front from the bank/lender.

This means we will have a lot of money to spend....

And from the man who WILL not share.... Paul Smith..... Don't let put this on COYS or a certain person will get it.... (Angry Icon)

What a runt. Yeah let's make sure only you control any gossip.... That's fair. After all, we're just second rate punters.... Not at your high table, eh?

I'm excited at the thought of a new stadium, thats excellent news. A new home, a new start, increased revenue, higher attendances, an even better atmosphere, more intimidating to opposition players. But whats the point if its in the championship???

And, what the changes of us picking up our first win of the season tomorrow? Very high. The scud that is Bale wont be playing. Maybe this is our chance to get the season rocking. 3 wins without Baler ( I presume he's suspended for that long?).

1davemackay - The DoF position is not the one that will go away and like in any other business, the management is not going to spend millions on any player without figuring out how to balance books. I have made this point before and make it now again - it is hindsight which tells us that Comolli fucked up. When he bought Modric, Dos Santos, Bentley, Hutton, Corluka - it didnt look bad then, did it ? I think we are glossing over the failures of Ramos completely by targetting Commolli. Ramos has been performing badly ever since February this year. His record does not make a good reading. I think he has lost the dressing room and now we are playing more mechanically than with any real conviction. Roman P, David Bentley, Modric, Dos Santos did not become bad players overnight - they are just not performing within the team. There is only 1 person to blame for that - Juande Ramos. Good managers bring out the best even from the worst of team members. Juande Ramos is a reverse alchemist - turns some of our gold players into stone. I want him out - bring someone with a heart and a booming voice (in English )

Tomorrows game will be the 38th Premier Lge games since BMJ got the sack. We have Pl 37, W10 D11 L16 Pts 41. If we lose ave. points per game will be 1.079.
The ave. pts per game when we were relegated in '77 (on a 3 pts for a win basis) was 1.071.
Given that the 76/77 didn't have ÂŁ100m plus worth of 'talent' we have on display now Ramos's team performance must be rated as the worst in the past 50 years. This is the most pathetic and inept team I have seen in 45 years of going to WHL.
Line someone else up and sack Ramos while there are still some winnable games of the season left.Sack Comolli too - for Bent, Modric, Corluka, Bentley et al you may as well have Armsrong, Jones, Lacy, Scott, Cundy, Nethercott etc etc.

.....I dunno how many peeps out there know but Ramos was sacked by Malaga after just a year, it all went downhill after malaga beat barcelona 5-1, malaga ended up getting relegated, that was 2002-03 he then went to puta seville where he had a stabile squad and money. He's now here at spurs with an unstabale squad which has been ripped apart since BMJ got the push... maybe he should go, the premier league is the hardest in the world and la liga only has 4 or 5 premiership quality teams the rest would be mid table championship so I think Ramos needs to adjust and quick because we are seriously looking at relegation,

"The point is there shouldn't be a new guy. We don't need a Director of Football."

ODM, in reply - I primarily meant to reiterate my dislike of his part in our clubs demise. What I meant by the 'new guy' is that someone has to be responsible to act on behalf of the club to make initial contacts, and keeping an ear on the grapevine to get a jump on anyone that might be becoming available. In my opinion, the manager in todays footballing world, simply cannot do all the scouting and work in setting up the transfers as they once did. I would like the 'new guy' whether he is named as a DoF, or Chief Scout, or other, to be the Managers bitch. I would like the new guy to be persuasive, likeable, someone that would be able to charm a world class player out of a world class club for peanuts.

I see where you are going by saying we don't need a new guy, but I think you mean that we don't need another Manager-DoF relationship like DC with JR or DC with MJ. David Pleat never was a proper DoF, because he never even was a proper manager in my books. A proper DoF would be a Monchi or that Txiki Begiristain from Barca - if we can get an established one that could have a harmonious relationship with the manager, then its a bloody good set up. If we can't find anyone half decent, then forget it - elevating someone of Comolli's level to a DoF was with the luxury of hindsight, clearly a mistake. As a scout, reporting to the manager - he might have been ok. Perhaps that's why those at the emtycrates never entertained such an idea.

PG. So its all Ramos' fault is it? If that's the case then surely it represents Comolli's biggest failure as it was clear from the statements made on appointment, that JR was Comolli's man, having been responsible for initiating the removal of Jol. Of course it was poiltics, Levy has given Comolli just enough rope, and like a lamb to the slaughter, Comolli's gone and done it - and hung the club in the process. Please c.f the big picture, not just headlines

rogerspurs - excellent post.

I don't recall seeing a post about Modric's comments after the Udinese match, if I missed it my apologies - this was an eye opener:

"I did my best but I was all alone in the middle," he said. "I couldn't do any more. I was disappointed to start on the bench but it was the coach's decision."

Very interesting considering JJ & Zokora were playing in front of and behind him in the middle.

I wanted Jol sacked because he refused to break up JJ and Zokora, who were killing our form at the time. JR is marching them both out every game, and again our form is crap. We won the League Cup because JR broke them up to give O'Hara and Thudd playing time.

Who's to say that a new coach will do anything different? Although, I am sure a new coach wouldn't be dumb enough to force an offensive heavy club to play a 4-5-1. I'm beginning to think my only hope for a turnaround for us is an injury to JJ (like the one in 2006 that saw us go on our best run in the last 3 seasons).

I agree with much that you say regarding Juande, Commolli, however is a different matter. His fuck ups were less apparent at the time because we were expecting other signings such as a left sided midfielder, an experienced CD, a holding midfielder and any number of strikers.

Modric is terrific but he plays in the same position as Jenas, ditto Bentley and Lennon. One of our main problems is a lack of leadership and experience yet he got rid of Steed and Teemu 2 players who fought til the final whistle.

Then there's 16.5 million spent on Bent and several million on the "Prince".

Need I go on ?

It's not all his fault but Commolli has demonstrated beyond reasonable doubt that he's no bleeding good.

My only concern is that if we get rid of Comolli is who do we sell him too, Primarks stuff costs at least a pound and I have it on good authority that he is worth a tad more more than a Kentucky family meal (with extra chips). This for me only leaves Redknapp - worth a punt?
