Well, I did my best to keep it a little more upbeat today but this surely has to be the last of the window blues. There can't be any more naff news.
THFC or rather Executive Director Paul Barber has been busy replying to emails various from Tottenham fans everywhere it seems.
Mine just arrived and I understand others got the same.
We have signed Frazier Campbell on a 12 month loan deal. We do not have a specific option to buy him at the end of the loan period.
We all need to remember that we also make loan arrangements with other clubs for our players fully expecting a promising young player to return to White Hart Lane.
So there you have it. Having viewed some You Tube footage he looks the part, but ait must be said all against pretty poor opposition. Now this.
I think we have to focus on the good that was done this window and move on from our car crash dealings with Manchester United.
he could turn out to be great, but do you think he'd want to go back to utd and try and get in the 1st team ahead of tevez, rooney and bernatov?
Who cares if he's going back to them, he'll have something to prove with us and in reality he's third choice in what will probably be a side playing one up front. Appreciate he'll be 2nd choice for UEFA cup but so what. We could have kept Peckhart but FC has been on loan in the championship and can prove he's good enough at that level. Peckhart ain't! Hopefully he'll get more minutes on the pitch at Saints than he would have done for us, prove he's a player and replace FC when he comes back. judging by what's been said it seems likely another striker will come in Jan so FC will then be fourth choice. I think we made the best of a bit of a balls up, for all we know JKH was all but done only to pull at the last minute, who can be blamed for that? i know, I know we should have sorted it earlier but I'm afraid the real world doesn't work like that all the time and if we were screwed at the last minute FC seems a decent backup striker in the meantime.
BIOYSOC! (my new sign off!)
hopefully we will actually buy someone who dosnt look good against crap opposition on you tube come Jan and send him packing.... now we are paying Manures wage bill FFS !
also no doubt a spy in our camp who knows what info red nose will be getting out of him for the next tapping up session... sorry bitter twisted and all that but this one really f#cks me off
Can we all just cheer up please?
Do I need to remind everyone we support the best team in the land, nay, the world?
Apparently so:

Even if he does stay on, it's a lose/lose situation.
If he stays and is crap, we ship him off.
If he stays and is good enough to lodge an offer, he'll be x times more expensive than he is now because his performances this season will have affected his value.
I said it before but here with a few less swear words. What can Campbell give us that young pekhart or barcham can't give us? Why sell a player to utd and then agree to blood their youngsters at the same time. MENTAL. We should feed him on a diet of booze, fags, and kebabs and send him back a year or six short of fitness.
Secondly, whilst I envy your getting that level of personal service from the Spurs board. Does the fact he's bothering not suggest a modicum of guilt for what has transpired?
can you reply to him:
So do Man Utd loan Pekhart off us for a year for experience and development? Or are we developing their player for them?
Are we officially their feeder club now?
Fresh from the delightful back and forth on the previous thread, i've been inspired to get meself a brand spanking new profile, makin me all official like.
Right, let's start going militant with some opinions.
Erm... Leave the kid on the bench unless an emergency arises. Maybe the deal was ÂŁ25m after all, assuming that if he plays, we'll add ÂŁ5m to the boys value by the time we give him back. I thought we'd had the last laugh. Not so it would appear.
It's all about the positives, much better 'squad' than this time last year.
yes that is a joke, how are we expected to get excited by a player who is not ours and no matter how well he does, never will be?
poor piece of last minute business
keep seeing the same sign off - what does BIOYSOC stand for please?
also who is JKH striker we were in for?
finally, which club is likely to be the next man city? probably a sleeping giant, preferably in london, on a sound financial footing.........know anyone??
patience please people - we will have the last laugh!!

He's just come through their youth system so he'll be earning cock all (in football terms) and would cost less than most even as 3rd choice. I bet even Rasiak was on more money! 9 months or so wages isn't going to be a problem.
As I've mentioned I reckon he'll get fewer minutes than Peck will so who cares.
continuing in a negative vain about on loan strikers who remebers our last loanee striker from up North the roaring success that was .....
I am still stunned that the newspapers are not making more of the Berbatov kidnap. If Woodward and Bernstein could bring down Nixon, surely the tenacity of the Spurs Blogland can keep on this story until such time as ManUre are deducted points and Fergie and Gill are jailed for perjury. Apart from Dorothy Boyd and flipper the goldfish, who's with me?
I think we should break his leg in a training ground accident that no one will see and then cancel his loan, after he has scored a few goals for us and we have bought a new striker of course.
Unless of course the boy Campbell sees that there is something other than the Dark side and leaves us at the end of the season to join Leyton Orient.

Campbell dropped down to the championship and looked very good (Hull offered ÂŁ7m for him!). Pecker hasn't done it even at this level and would be a bigger gamble, he'll get his chance at Saints this year. Barcham - I doubt he'll ever be good enough even at Championship level.
Blood their youngsters, we needed someone and he'll be a back up!
Secondly yes, I think they are as gutted as we are that another striker didn't come in and I think admitting it only proves as much.

so what! he's a stop gap who'll only play when needed. We don't want him after Jan (hopefully) or at worst Summer as we'll (hopefully be signing a top notch striker or Pecker turns out to be sh1t hot for saints and we have him back.
How are Spurs a feeder club, it's ridiculous the claims people come up with.
Now West Ham are a feeder club people look at the talent they have lost over the years.

so how is it that Hull/Wigan were all set to sign him for ÂŁ7M (which i'm assuming is not a loan fee) but we could only get him on loan...
I just think it's gonna be a stop gap for emergencies until Jan, when probably Arshavin and A N other will be signed...

Yup, my thoughts, we don't want him long term. I think we got screwed at the last minute on another striker (JKH?) and basically tried to get a 3rd striker in. Luckily Heskey, Cole, Doyle etc didn't happen. I think we said Berba can't go as we've only 2 strikers to which they said you can borrow FC for the year. We get rid of Berba and do not have as big a hole up front as we would have. Come Jan we try again to get a top notch front man (although it's not easy especially as Citeh will be chucking money about as well as Chavski who'll be p*ssed cos of Robinho).

Harold,
including you, me, and my Mum, we have 3 signatures already. As we speak, I have my lawyers researching the Premier League rulebook to determine if they can take action over a kidnapping even if a member club does not complain. If they can, expect the Fraud Squad over at Scudamore's office by the end of the week.
Arshavin in January is gonna be knackered. He'll be ripe for a rest, not the PL. His and our moment has passed.

Maybe, although if we're doing ok and FC is half decent we may be able to buy him and ease him in for the odd game let him rest up through summer then next season bingo. Only problem is he's not getting any younger 27/28?

Spot on, Whilst thoughts of any class of 'agreement' for the next window with ZSP are fantasy - if there were one it ought be that he only plays as many games as King does.
Na, he'd have muscle wastage if that was the case, we at least need him match-fit.
Can anyone shed any light on if we are still able to sign any players on loan or get anyone in on a free transfer now the window has closed? Obviously we can’t buy anyone but maybe there is someone out there with European experience who isn’t cup tied that we could try to bring in...

was thinking about that myself not sure what the answer is but best guess is yes as we are looking to loan KPB to Brum according to reports .. maybe Stalteri and the other forgottens will follow
however refering to my previous post re our last loanee from up norf success dont hold your breath on what me may end up with ....
If you are talking about Mido, who has moved up north, then I wouls say he was a great success.
If you are talking about Andy Booth, well, what can I say?
Premier league clubs cannot loan in, but are allowed to loan out. Free agent signings are ok, so there is Appiah still available if we want him, i seem to remember that
But ENIC are pretty powerful, too. In fact, I'd hazard a guess that Joe Lewis has some very powerful friends indeed.

Transfers - September 2008
The transfer window is now closed for permanent signings and will reopen on 1 January 2009.
In the Football League, once seven days have passed since the closing of the summer transfer window on 1 September, loan deals are permitted.
In addition, players who are unattached free agents, and were not registered with a club when the transfer window closed on 1 September, are able to join new clubs.

It was Jan Klass Huntelaar mate,
Im just deeply saddened by this whole saga not having at least an option to him just makes it even worse,
Im holding on to what little hope i can that we've got at least 1 decent agreement with someone for a January transfer that goes through January first and that's all we do in that window, would really prefer it to be JKH over AA as he's gonna be completly shot and useless for a good couple of weeks.
I have to agree with the earlier comment about guilt from the board, ive never heard of them answering emails before with personal comments.
At the risk of someone on spurs odious being in some way related to the Mamas and Papas or someone who owns the royalties I have constructed a song (to the tune of Monday Monday by the Mamas and Papas):
Juande Jaunde, so good to me,
Juande Ramos, you were all I hoped you would be
Oh Monday morning, Monday morning couldn't guarantee
That Monday evening you would still be here with Dimi.
Monday Monday, can't trust that day,
Juande Juande, sometimes it just turns out that way
Oh Monday morning, you gave me no warning of what was to be
Oh Monday Monday, how could you sell and not replace dimi.
It's the best I could do. Crap but it'll do.... bit like our striker policy....

Hopefully we wont get caught out for the umpteenth window in a row in January.
The club should be negociating now with whoever (agree not Arshavin), to come in on Jan 1st 2009. We could agree a fee, even pay some up front for whoever we want, with an injury clause for money to be returned if that happens.
OK, some of our supposed targets may have gone elsewhere, but we cant afford to get caught again. Ramos & Comolli must have a shortlist.

At the very least it means the ITKs can find 'gainful' employment raising our hopes again, only to dash them later with a cyber-shrug of the shoulders and a professorial 'Anything can happen' caveat.

People! its not that easy, if it was we'd have the players in already. Its not 'getting caught out!' There is only a finite number of good players we want if we can't get them what do we do? just buy anyone? Do you not think the board / Levy haven't got Spurs best interests at heart. i really fucking hate that lying little gimp.
give it up you cock. you ar egetting more ridiculous by the hour.
At this rate not even the incredibly gullibly Mr Paul 'Huntelaar and Veloso also being signed after the Russians' Smith will have trouble believing him.
Ginge1 with all due respect mate there are players out there who we could have signed, Arshavni a terrible example but also others mentioned(over and over again)on these pages: Thiago Neves on the left, Kompany, Falcao, Palacio and a few others.
My point is that positive thinking is perfect but sometimes you must admit when you've made a balls-up...and this is one of those occassions/ Perhaps a combination of Levy's hard-nosed negotiations or Commolli's incompetence.
Either way we got f*cked over bad this window...so now all we can hope for is for The Dazzler and Pavlyuchenko to rip it up in the Prem this year(dont care much for Campbell but goals are goals and I may change my mind if he's a talent!)
By the way Harry that Gunter interview that you lifted from SO had the desired effect of galvanising my spirits(partly my inner shop-lifter I suspect!). Ginge1, what i'm trying to say, probably not very clearly, is that I want to see more deals that have the timing of Modric about them (i.e. announced before the window is open) rather than those with the desperation of Andy Booth & Rasiak.
Also, why do we sell at the last possible moment, e.g. Defoe & Berbatov. I dont think it's healthy to do that unless the player is totally not wanted, such as an underused squad player.

Because if we'd have sold Berba any earlier we'd have got about ÂŁ10m less! Its called good negotiating!
In an ideal world we'd have signed all our players prior to pre season training, this is what Wendy stated in the summer, surely this means that was what we were trying to do.
its not Championship manager, there are 3rd parties out there who don't have our best interest at heart (don't say Levy!)

Sorry but the art of good negotiation skills is a win / win situation. We did not end up with a win with the last minute Berbatov deal.
With all due respect to Fraizer Campbell & the extra ÂŁ10m in the clubs coffers, neither are a win.
Jasperwatch:
Jasper seems to be quite a clairvoyant - the details of his post:
who Jasper
date 3/08/08

site SO
He knew about the Fraizer loan a month ago and said nothing!
...And a bloke called Gill at Manure seems to disagree with Jasper about the loan deal - now who is the more ITK?
None of us know what happened for sure but outside of the Man Utd 'kidnapping' THFC had months to sort this out and they were either subject to incompetence or bad luck or worse still ... a bit of both.
Like I said previously, not Levy's finest hour but he will know that and moreover be acutely aware that pointing at others won't wash.
Bent, bizarrely I really do feel could go nutrs in the UEFA. He was superb against just about everyone in the preseason and that's the quality that awaits him.
Frazier/Fraser/Fraiser is an irrelevance. A stick to beat the board with but not worth fretting over.
Crazy Paving will be an absolute f*cking menace. I'm convinced we need an Arshavin type player in front of Modders, but in the interim we'll just have to throw more midfielders - Gentley and Two Saints at them.
Blimey.

Spot on, Whilst thoughts of any class of 'agreement' for the next window with ZSP are fantasy - if there were one it ought be that he only plays as many games as King does.
Hopefully we wont get caught out for the umpteenth window in a row in January.
The club should be negociating now with whoever (agree not Arshavin), to come in on Jan 1st 2009. We could agree a fee, even pay some up front for whoever we want, with an injury clause for money to be...People! its not that easy, if it was we'd have the players in already. Its not 'getting caught out!' There is only a finite number of good players we want if we can't get them what do we do? just buy anyone? Do you not think the board / Levy haven't got Spurs best interests at heart. If they can get...
Ginge1, what i'm trying to say, probably not very clearly, is that I want to see more deals that have the timing of Modric about them (i.e. announced before the window is open) rather than those with the desperation of Andy Booth & Rasiak.
Also, why do we sell at the last possible...Because if we'd have sold Berba any earlier we'd have got about ÂŁ10m less! Its called good negotiating!
In an ideal world we'd have signed all our players prior to pre season training, this is what Wendy stated in the summer, surely this means that was what we were trying to do.

So what happens if we sell Berba for ÂŁ24m, Fergie thinks were soft and we still can't get Hunts, AA etc.... we're in the same position come deadline day, ÂŁ10m less in our pockets and no FC. In that situation we end up with a Rasiak or Booth!
ÂŁ10m is not to be sniffed at boys most of our signings this summer cost less than this! If we could have brought a striker in earlier i'm sure we would have. None of us have any knowledge of how these things work fully.
I've been sat in a solicitors office at midnight trying to sort a deal out with a customer, his lawyers etc for millions of ÂŁ only for it to fall through at the last minute. The deal was cast iron and took ages and screwed my target for the year. If I could of made it work I would, if I could have done it earlier I would. Not the same as football but the point is some things you have no control over and all the skilled negotiation in the world won't always work.
This transfer window has told me one thing, Levy is not to be F*cked with, remember Fergie was never going to pay over ÂŁ24m. Do you think he'll be keen to deal with us again. We've pulled his pants down twice over fees (although he's had our best players but that is out of our hands!)

I think it was more likely the Man City situation that forced the price up by a few million. Berbatov has also said that City situation delayed the deal by about 3 hours. Could we have done something else with those extra few hours, who knows.
I also heard today that supposedly we tried to sign Kevin Doyle last minute, but Reading wouldn't answer the phone.
And therein perhaps, lies the rub as they say in some 3rd floor rooms in Berwick Street.
Fergie did indeed pay through the eyeballs. Levy & Co spent all the next day shovelling the naughty money into the vault.
And the Sweaty then stands back and watches Carrick raise the silverware.
So yer both right, chaps.

I would love this to be true but this Jasper bloke is full of shit isn't he? That said, if Jasper is wrong, this is the first time I feel Levy has been out manouvered.
Just read a report from 442 that Gio turned down the scum Chavski and Manure, so does that make it a great coup for us?
or does that mean he will be dreaming of signing for them in 3 years time?
are sky taking the piss, on their skytext homepage their travel feature is.....Bulgaria
So who are the best strikers in the PL that aren't playing UEFA cup football, and who's teams are a bit short on cash that we can buy in the winter?
I'd like Yakubu but he'll be cup tied.
Santa Cruz? He seems to be the only name I can come up with that isn't playing UEFA cup.

The first team to win the 'Double' of the FA Cup and Top Flight Championship in the 20th Century...Well said, Here Here! I look forward to that list getting longer, my friends!
Perversely, I actually find that list quite depressing.
Surely not, my fellow man, a great number of firsts on that list, im only old enough to remember ozzie and ricky days, but with an exiting squad a competent manager and a board that looks after the club, we will become stronger and stronger. With all the goings on west ham today, newcastle yesterday, today, and tomorrow, we can be thankful its not us in the quagmire! Sorry getting side tracked here, but am on a roll. With regards to all the fuss about man citey, they threaten to buy the best players in the world but wont come to fruition berbs, for one didnt go, i doubt gas will go from ars, nor ronaldo from the mancs,it will be to clear the clubs debt or for wages if they do! Any way missus is off again, baby crying, cant have five minutes these days, work tommorow! Still saturday soon, oh s..t no Spurs game, keep up the good work chaps! Ramos is the man!
I have just read the statement on the official site, and on reflection I think the board have done a great job this summer. Yes they loaned out Pecker, but they can always recall him if need be. The club (and most of us fans) were banking on the signing of Smooth bum. But the deal fell through because of a doggy, greedy russian agent. (a bit 007ish!!) I believe the board are just as dissapointed as us. Our squad in all other departments is brilliant. We can get plenty of goals from midfield and re-inforce up front in Jan. If Campbell scores goals and we send him back....so what? He has done his job, and we will get a world class striker to replace in Jan. Trust me, the board will be working on this now.
We have the foundations to be up in the top four.
Have faith my fellow Spurs!!

Agree, would rather make Top 4 without buying a spot.
Though with our spending (and others around us) it seems we have to buy our way in anyway. The perception of the owner only lends it to the clubs apparent ambitions, meaning a blank check every year...will stop at nothing till they win, etc.
Might be easier if we didn't have to risk money on unproven players every window, hoping they are class, then hoping they will stay long enough to take us to the promised land.
Rather some (corrupt?) Arab's with deep pockets, than some in debt American owners, or an owner on the run from the law.

Ossies Dreaming again!
Levy sold our two strikers for ÂŁ50m because they wanted to go! Who does he bring in Torres? All the top players play in the CL or want to. I appreciate we've been left a tad short up front, however the way it sounds to me is that it wasn't due to a lack of effort.
Hopefully Pav will turn out to be a gem and FC does ok when required (hopefully not too often!). Come Jan we will hopefully be able to pick up a decent striker, but there are no guarantees. My worry is if all the fans start kicking off and we can't get a Hunts or AA or someone of that ilk they will end up buying anyone (thank god we didn't waste our money on Doyle or Cole!). How can you say Levy only looks at his balance sheet, we must have outspent everyone outside the top 4 under Levy's tenure. Ok they made a profit this year but I'm sure they were planning at least one more purchase that didn't come off.
Dicksplash!

Didn't Levy turn down Roman's money? That perhaps was an error!
If someone comes in as a bored billionaire and wants to buy it, great! Until they do ENIC and Levy have given us more than the previous regime (and we're not in the sh1t like the regime before that!). As such I'm happy with how they've done. Would I have liked them to pull out all the stops for Hunts / AA / Veloso etc - of course.
Until the billionaire comes to us I will take the moral high ground and use it to mock the Chav's and the boys at 'Middle Eastlands'. If they come knocking then let em in!
Which Arab? if someone comes sniffing great, I do not want a former Thai PM or someone from Iceland (especially Kerry Katona!)or Mr Pint Drinking, Sports Soccer Donnay wearing, no dough flid! I still think we are moving forward, albeit at a pace slower than I would like. The season is only 3 games in, lets see how it pans out. how does that rank with trophies, medals, success. Fans of successful clubs look at that shit and laugh. You're making fools of us all by proclaiming half that nonsense to be success. There stats, nothing to be overly proud off. Notts Forrest have two European Cups FFS, what is that worth now?
We continue to underachieve, fail on all fronts. The great underachievers. We need real success and we need it now!
Campbell signing is an absolute joke, embarrassing. I also think Barber is off in his calculations, because we definitely made money this window, no change we had a negative net spend.
I'm seriously pissed off today again with Spurs. But i'd rather be Spurs than any other club in the world, because we try to do it right. No one club deserves success more in England in the last 10 years than us. We've went after the best players, best managers, sihned more players than anyone else all in our chase for success, which still eludes us.
Hopefully with Ramos (minus comolli the c*nt) success will soon be ours.

Yidbarmy & Ossie,
I,m pretty fuc*ed off with the fickleness of you two, answer me honestly;

That is so totally hilarious, I'm gonna use one those annoying fukkin faces for the first and last time
mate, it is a fine line and you deep down know that, i accept these deals should have been done earlier but if they had that red nose Cnut would have had Berbacnut for 25 mill and then fans like you would be saying we sold out and paid too much dough for Huntelaar...........they cant fuc*in win can they???
did wenger buy anyone Ossie, all they bought was Nasri and silveste, it aint as easy as you guys think............Huntelaar and the like sit on fences waiting for CL clubs to come buy them, they wait, we wait, net result is fuckin confusion.
I have to say, although we made some good signings, we are not going to make top 4, I think we'll struggle to make top 6. Can someone e-mail this Paul Barber and ask him to sign whoever we're going for on a pre-contract agreement, still like to get Arshavin in if possible with Veloso and another striker, If Man City haven't signed them all by the time we get round to it.
This Cambell soup tastes like Alex Fergusons sloppy seconds

Are you trying to say that Alex Ferguson has been stirring Rafa Benitez Custard because he was first in this transfer window
wrong on both counts;
Wenger had 30 mill to spend, couldnt spend it....yet, like Ginge the breasfeeder, he is waiting to use that in Jan when he really knows his squads injuries etc.
Secondly; Robhino went to Citeh cos RM didnt want a rival CL club getting there top player....ringin any bells?
Ossie & Yid you two are like Twatman & Bobbins!
I tell you what, get on the phone get some billionaire sorted for us. Try the Sultan of Brunei I think he's worth a few bob, what about Lizzie? Buck Palace is worth ÂŁ940m I believe, get her to bob down to the Halifax, get a re-mortgage sorted and get stuck in! Sorted.
Not sure Willy Gates has enough dough for us but if I think of any more I'll let you know. Make sure you do a good job and get someone sorted sharpish. If not we'll get the 'Ossie & Yidder out!' banners sorted.
Why have we got the money? who do we have to thank for that? Whoever it is I'll send him a thank you card for making sure we've got a few bob so we can try and buy some players every transfer window.
Let me know

We all have diff opinions and that is democracy for you, personally i think DL and ENIC have turned our club round, Sugar set the scene and they have taken it to where we are. Now that may not be where Chelscum are and citeh will be but by fuckemee i am a happy fan, never has a gooner mate (?) or chelscum mate (?) given me clog over the money we spend cos they know we ar a well run club, fuck the Chelscum fans in their pissed moments have admitted they worry and live for the now cos they know it will go tits up one day....personally I,d gloat until Ginge1 stops breast feedin in their direction WHEN that happens. Levy and Joe Lewis have us in a great position, top manager, great squad and ONLY ONE FUCKIN PLAYER SHORT, so to me that aint so bad.

maybe a bit late in the day for this one fellas but....
I couldnt give a fooking shite wether we have some young striker thats going back to manyoo or if you think levy has lost the plot by not buying everybody mentioned in the papers. The bottom line for me is that as part of our transformation into the footballing force we so rightly are, we will hit a few fuck ups like what we had with berba and bob. Levy needs to learn from these as do we all. We know he can wait for the right people, bloody hell Ramos hasnt just dropped off the christmas tree you know, campbell will make the numbers up until the main man comes around next window. We all know its huntalaar shaped. Chill out and be thankfull we havent got the ginger pele as back up striker, now that wasnt many years ago was it?

A rare day when I actually agree with the Snail tossers ..
Comolli should go. He should either fall on his sword or Levy should bounce him. The former (current?) Arse man has been a disaster since day one. From stabbing Jol in the back to f*cking up our UEFA campaign this term. If you were to publish a textbook on how NOT to operate as a DOF, this guy would be the first one you interviewed. WHY would you bring in a guy like Ramos and NOT give him control of all transfers? Makes no sense. This system might work with an inexperienced manager, but not some like Ramos.. or Curbishley or Keegan for that matter. This experiment has been an unmitigated disaster since day one, with Frankie Arneson bolting and Jol having to stomach the glasses-wearing Gooner. Now, Wandy has been forced to give the rest of the league a head-start because of this baguette-eating mug's inability to line up a replacement when he had months to do so? Please. Mr. Levy. Take DC out for a boat ride, like Fredo, and do what's best for the Spurs family.

I know this is slightly off-topic but does anyone else just feel completely weird about this whole Man City thing? I mean it's just not cricket is it? This guy is supposed to be ten times richer than Abramovich... where's it all going to end?
If say 3 other Premier League clubs get billionaire owners, the top players are going to go for like ÂŁ250m or ÂŁ300m. And imagine the wages... ÂŁ400k, ÂŁ500k per week?
Everton's Bill Kenright has come out today and said that realistically Everton need a billionaire owner just to compete. It's hard to disagree with that.
And surely we're in the same boat as them? If people think the gap between top 4 and the rest is big now, just give it a few years... if they've all got billionaire owners, we're going to need one too, just to stay in the running.
Don't you just feel the whole thing is becoming a bit farcical? The Premier League is fast becoming a billionaire's playground. But what can be done?

Its a very valid point. This is what you do then. Allow just three foreigners. And for all local players based on reserves performance or lower league performance put them in a draft American football style. The team that came in lowest last season gets first pick! And so on.... Should be fun!
Morning all!
I don't know how many of you have seen it/read it but this months 4-4-2 has an interview with J2S in it aswell as a piece on JOE LEWIS. As many of you know one is the new mexican wonderkid and the other is the guy who owns ENIC!
I have only had a chance to read the J2S article as yet but he certainly is making all the right noises, much like Mr Gunter was yesterday. Yesterday's Gunter article (sorry spurs odious) and the J2S article in 4-4-2 has warmed my cockles somewhat. I'll see if i can get it scanned/the salient points noted down and see if HH would be kind enough to publish it on here (if its not against some copyright laws!)
J2S turned down ManUre, Chavski, and INTER to sign for Spurs, and I think all the Levy doubters should really think about that when they slag him off next time. We signed him for an initial ÂŁ4.7m and that my friends is a bargain. He also states that by training with Barca and obviously playing against the best players in the world at Barca in training everyday has meant he holds no fear about twhat the premier league holds.
We have in our squad my friends, a gem. Lets make sure we get behind the lad and ensure that he becomes a legend at the lane!
On another Gunter note..........
The boy seems to be a bit of a leader! Look at this story taken from the BBCSPORT site. A rallying call if ever I've seen one!

COYS!
I agree that Levy, Lewis and Enic have done well by us, building on Sir Alans life saving yet conservative efforts and pushing on, and I laugh at any mention of DL's sacking. However we all know that as a savvy businessman, he has always planned to part with Spurs some day and dreams that day will come only after he writes himelf into Spurs great history as the man who ultimately navigated Spurs to the promised land of Champions league football, with plans for a new Stadium agreed/under construction, and with the baton handed over to an owner that will cherish safely guide the club that he loves.
However we cannot lose sight that the Premier League is an enormous business, more so than any other league in the world. It is why it has attracted foreign ownership and investors looking to make money. These have been 2 types:
1. Those at ManUre, L*verpool, WetSpam etc: who are getting the business to make money for them. In this instance, I agree wholeheartedly with Toddspur etc who would not want owners of this type to get their dirty greedy mits on our club. They are businessmen, but not in the mould of Levy who is a fan, but they are the type who crave the opportunity to ransack the goldmine they would perceive our great club to be.
2: Chelscum and now Shitteh of course are different. Their owners have procured these clubs, not as investments, but as playthings. International credit crunches mean little to them, as they have plenty in reserve. There are very few billionaires in this class who are willing to pay a half billion ÂŁ or more of their own money with little thought of any financial return. A few posters are panicing that there will be lots of these types in the game, but I disagree. It is more likely that the type that remortgaged ManUre will be attempting to buy PL clubs - the type we don't want.
So, and here is where I find myself agreeing with JGM!
, if we do get an offer from the rival cousins in Dubai - we should embrace this with open arms. Personally I would like to keep someone of Levy's ilk on board as Chairman to keep the ship stable, whilst our new owner would guild or club and pimp tha ride. If Sheikh Al Maktoum were to buy Spurs, what we would see is a competition of "Beat the Jones'" that we'd never have dreamed. If the opportunity was available but missed, then we will surely have missed the opportunity to be top of the tree. We'll still play football, but we'll never really be contenders on the world stage.
Now this will make you laugh >>>>>

The word I would describe my feelings is: apathetic.
With all the bluster and bravado emanating from their 31 year old owner, I am struck with a pervading sense of naivite. This idea that you can just throw names about with gay abandon, like Ronaldo and Torres and Kaka with pound signs next to their names AFTER the window has just closed: to what end is dialogue of this nature? You can't do anything about it this year, so why not keep your council?
Additionally, going on record and saying: We expect top 4 finish _this_season_. To my mind, I just don't find that a mature plan.
I expect a more likely unfolding of events to go; mid table by xmas, cash flashed at all and sundry in Jan, household names already established at Utd, Liverpool, Real, Barcelona and the like resist the vulgar advances, top 8 finish, Sparky departure, sheikh boredom, cashing in chips with the club at circa ÂŁ250m.
Also, Saturday's winning lottery numbers will include the numbers 13, 22, and 44.
That is all.

I'm disappointed about the Campbell situation. Although who's to say he won't love it at Spurs and ask to join us at the end of the season?? I mean ManUre owe us one. lol
Nunchucks
Well put. The guy strikes me as somewhat of a clown. My brother works in the middle east and after visiting him many times I can tell you that these guy's (the very rich) have little or no real grasp on reality.
The very fact that they bough the club a day before the window shut then only signed ONE 'star' player in Robinho (who's a massive gamble and a waste of at least ÂŁ17m) shows that they are:
A) Impulsive
B) Naive
C) Not really clever enough to run a football club
The same thing will happen to them as what happened to West Ham's icelandic owners. Ok, they have bundles of money but no-one is going to move to a club with no history, no prestige and only a promise from a future owner that they will win things. Respect and Prestige is earned through winning trophies. Even Chavski were winning things before Roman bought them. Citeh have nothing. Only the mercenaries and the past their best will join Citeh and in your words nunchucks, i expect the new Citeh owners to end up with a
"top 8 finish, Sparky departure, sheikh boredom, cashing in chips with the club at circa ÂŁ250m.
JS Did you read the bit the about Levy having to take a breather before deciding on what to do with Comolli?
I can believe there is an element of truth in that story. It was never going to be an easy transfer window, which is why it seems Levy wanted to tackle the Manure Berba issue personally. I can imagine Garcia was 2nd choice after Arshavin but missing out on him to Betis - well thats ridiculous. Similarly the claim by Milito to have rejected Spurs - one can only assume that was a fallback for Pav/ 3rd striker option? Campbell - the name already irks, lets hope that it can only get better. Whether the blame lies with Levy for not doing all the work himself (completely impossible) and entrusting Comolli with something so important, or whether it was simply Comolli's negotiating abilities that let him down (lets face it he isn't exactly the Mr. Smooth-yet-Sharp that all good businessmen are) I can see why some people are down on the whole FC issue.

The bit that preturbed me was that we went after Kevin Doyle at 10.30pm!! Coppell turned us down as it left him with no time to find a replacement. Doyle (woh was on international duty with Ireland) was apparently gagging to join Spurs but Coppell told him to do one!
I mean Comolli failed big time this window. I think he is the one that seems to be failing, not Mr Levy. If Levy is to win some of the fansback over then he needs to replace Comolli with a man who can do the job.
Rocha, Boateng, Assou-Ekotto, Zokora (to some extent) have all failed to deliver and they are all Comolli signings.
Apologies for my almost Spurs Odious grammatical errors and mispellings!
Nun/Jamie - If this brash arrogant clown of a Citeh owner tries to run the club himself - then yes, a recipe for disaster for the blue mooners. However such blusterings are common with the youthful wealth that comes from someone pampered all his life. In my eyes just a sign of exuberance and immaturity, than the ides of september (read march) that predict doom for Citeh. If he has a network of suitably savvy managers in house to advise, as one would expect with for someone simply fronting an internationally wealthy organisation, then nostradamus or not ithe future's not as 'blah' as a Spurs fan can hope for them.

I don't know if you have had any dealings with people like the new Citeh owner. When I worked in Qatar I worked in the hospitality business for one of the biggest companies in Doha and dealt with these people on a daily basis.
They are of the frame of mind and attitude that no-one know's better than them and that no-one can tell them what to do. Their word is final and thats the way it goes. They have arrogance to match their brashness and this makes them IMO a horrible bunch! I cannot imagine an 'advisor' being brave enough to challenge their decisions.

Have you seen the interview with your namesake in 4-4-2?
40 Gypsies arrive at the Pearly Gates in their Transit vans and caravans.
St Peter goes into the gatehouse and phones up God, saying. 'I've got 40
travellers here. Can I let them in?'
God says 'We are over quota on Gypos. Go out and tell them to choose
between them which are the 12 most worthy, and I will just let the dozen
in.'
Less than a minute later St Peter is on the blower to God again.
'They've gone,' he tells God.
'What?' says God, 'All 40 of them?'
'No, the gates'
JS. Yes I have. It's an interesting experience and when it comes to subjective things you just can't argue, but I also find that if you dare to challenge them with logic and back it up (need to choose the right subject) - they won't necessarily like it - but will respect you if you make the right approach to forward your views - especially if they're paying you for the consultancy services (being in the technology field - there are certain things you just can't argue with).
However, 'Money' is a subjective topic for them. Saying that one thing or another is better value will not mean a thing. They want something, they go all out to get it and if they can't have it, then its temper tantrums all round. ÂŁ17m or ÂŁ32m for a Robinho simply doesn't matter scarily enough.
I wouldn't want this laissez faire attitude with a prospective Spurs owner though, I've met enough wealthy guys from round the world that although few and far between, there are some that have a level head for business and who do appoint the right people for the job. Fingers crossed.

Cast your mind back to that fateful 125th anniversary game with Villa. When we equalised at 4-4, Daniel was up smiling and cheering with us. The TV images zoom in on an uncomfortable Comolli shifting around in his seat looking upset we managed to not completely cock up.
I rest my case. Admittedly its a bit lightweight, made in china of plastic and cardboard with prints of spiderman on it, and is used to carry the contents of my lunch - but rested it is anyway.
How about picking up the "original" Ronaldo on a "pay as you play" contract? He is a free agent now isn't he?
God i am desperate for a striker lol

No,
I just think that DC is a liability. Send him, Dawson and BAE to coventry. Or anyone that will take them!!
More to the point, he's actually more loyal to Wenger after years of working with him at Monaco, Nagoya Grampus Eight and Arsenal.
So from the Levy witch hunt to the Spurs Odious debate to the DC witch hunt!
The conspiracy! the drama! Someone should make it a film!!
Reasons to be cheerful:
1) We could be Arsenal. Apparently have loads of money to spend, despite being bled dry by a ridiculous stadium with no atmosphere, and a manger who seems hell bent on not spending money! Whilst edging toward the French managers job!
2) Could be Wet Spam. Illiterate to start with, you become a pleb with half a brain and a guaranteed place in lifes dole queue. You then support a club who couldn't run a piss up in a brewery whilst 80% of your squad hobbles about like extra's from Casualty!
3) Could be a Newcastle fan. Deluded that you're a big club and you own a stupid accent, you then realise that you haven't won anything for over 50yrs and the geordie boy done good, bought your club and now can't run it. Installs a manager thats 15years past his sell by date only to sack him and replace him with a poison dwarf with an oversized head and squinty eyes! (yes I'm talking about Dennis Wise!)
Thats at least 3 reasons!
The final reason to be cheerful:
By being Spurs fans we are inherently better than almost every other fans in the country. We support a club that was hewn from glory and sprinkled with flamboyance. You don't know it yet but we are the lucky ones!
COYS!!
I'm in a good mood today can you tell?? lol

Magoo - I liked the pearly gates one, but this really is a joke.
Morning Gents.
Said it somewhere before but I am relativly happy with the outcome.
If you look at the sqaud and probable first team I would be more than happy. Granted Berbatoss and Gypo would have enhance the team but they went so we deal with it and see what we brought in and had.
Im feeling confident, I really believe that Bent will be the goals and can see him getting 25Plus this year in all comps. Why?? The chelsea goal was his first shot at goal and I think it will be a feed the Goat and he will score situation.
Guys the quality of that post was shit. written in between 3/4 calls and making a cup of tea...

Bruce apologies if i come across as thick. But....... I dont have a clue what your last post meant!
The sun is shining in not so sunny glasgow and work is going well, Spurs are going to do Villa and England will struggle against Andorra, Fat Frank will fail in midfield and Terry will show the world that he's a dog. Does the week get any better?
Jamie, Reasons to be cheerful. Part III.
Health service glasses
Gigolos and brasses
round or skinny bottoms....
Ian Dury!
Sun in glasgow? you must have got off at the wrong bus stop with morning.
Better news......
The shite weather due in the South East will not hit Glorious Glasgow!
You know for a country that has so little sun the women are of a very high standard! - Another reason to be cheerful!
Ha ha always count on the Spam for a laugh. How the hell was Curbishite ever going to succeed hes the re-incarnation of Pardull for christs sake.
They look like a couple of Bank Managers not Football Managers.
They "won the world cup" though - twunts.
When England play it cheers me up: there's a worse calamity than THFC out there!

Wasnt Ian Dury a Spammer?
Might have been, but I would have gone mad if my record collection was restricted to Chas and Dave and Diamond Lights!
how could I have forgotten that tottenham classic, "fog on the Tyne"
Jamie - I thought you had a preference for Eurowags? Jenni Falconer LINK is the only one that comes to mind for lassies from glazgee
Will their next reunion tour be sponsored by Old Spice?

Which one is she??
EuroWags are the finest example of WAGS.
The women of Glasgow are the obtainable, high street standard. You know the kind of women that you have to look at 2 or 3 times cos they're that good yet they are walking down the street and working in the same building as you.
That kind of woman!
Jamie

BC - I hope they job swap. Equal opportunities and all that.
Seeriously though, did you see that interview with Lukas Podolski? He's moaning at Bayern and is itching for a move somewhere. As a left sided attacking threat, he's not as tricksy as AA, but he's certainly be fresher if he's only bench warming there.
PS Did I say before? I want Comolli out!
Also what's with Steve Bruce's interviews saying how gutted he is at missing out on FC? A back hander from Rednose for helping raise the profile/price of a manure player?
