Your list of good deeds in the Lilywhite shirt stands, but the good was often soured by infuriating runs that caused little but leaving you hugely out of position. I won't bang on, you know when and why it all came undone.
Valencia bless'em are apparenly stumping up the £8 million that will allow Hutton to take over. The Spaniards are said to be, and I make no apoplogy for using accountancy jargon here... 'up to their knickers in debt', yet this morning this story breaks in the British press as does another in the Spanish that David Villa is likely to be offered a monster new contract to keep him there.
So a tremendous bitta business by Levy & Co. if this goes through. There's no two ways about it. Chimbonda arrived as a Premier League Dream Team player. He will leave thanked for much of his work at The Lane but will the need to re~invent himself as a more disciplined force if he is to do more than survive. For that lolly they'll be expecting more than hit and miss far post headers.
i was suprised about the fee to, great bit of business for us if true. off topic i think daily mail/evenin standard keep a close eye on this blog, apparently bently signing this week - something that was said on this blog last week
It won't be anywhere near £8m up front though and I doubt it'll ever get close, but just seeing the back of the glove-wearing in August berk will make me happy.
More importantly though Harry - what news on Bentley? I may be silly and believe everything you say but I'm starting to doubt...
Like i said earlier there is no doubt that Levy is a shrewd businessman. Whats great to know is that he has Tottenhams best interests at heart.
If its true and we get £8m for Chimbo it will be an outstanding deal! it will recoup nearly the whole £9m fee we paid for Hutton in January and free up £8m to buy in a CB or put towards the Bentley deal.
Now Levy has his man in charge (Ramos) he will give him the funds to spend. Ramos looks like he has told Commoli where to go with regards to some transfers. I heard that in the January window that Comolli suggested 9 players to Ramos who looked at the list and said NO to all 9!! Choosing to only bring in Hutton, Woodgate and Gilberto (defensive reinforcements)
Now Ramos has been given the reigns we will no longer have the type of disagreements seen so frequently under Jol and Comolli.
Is Chimbonda the start of the cull?
HH liked your post on the Albelda blog about Ramos giving Steed and TT alot more minutes. They both remind me of Poulsen when Ramos was at Sevilla. Poulsen was not the outstanding creative force or the stand out player of the side. He was a player who knew his job inside out and he stuck to that, never venturing outside of his essential duties and his consistency in the middle of the park gave Sevilla something to build from. Lets hope Steed and TT can step upto the plate and do the business this season.
he did good for us - but as said harry, he caused alot of grief.
£8m is pretty large fee considering he is what near 30 and also valencia are in debt (supposedly). where they are getting theyre cash from?
u know what would be interesting...if we were looking at a player swap...abelda...joaquin...
chimbo is on way less weekly wages than a majority of valencia stars, so i'd rather see us swindle and exchange for a position we're in need of - ie RW/LW, DM, or CB - Marchena anyone??
AussieYid
Aussieyid........
Good point about Marchena! I thought that he was the better central defensive player during Spains Euro2008 campaign. Wwould e very interesting to see how much Valencia value him at.
Have to say though if we are goin to get £8m for SHIMBOMBA (god bless david pleat)then I would be inclined to take the money and run!!
I cannot wait to see Chimbo wearing gloves and tights in the august Valencia weather!!!
sorry the forecast to southampton link is here >> LINK
On the Chimbo discussion, bearing in mind the media were talking rubbish about him going to Prem club for a 2m quick sale, to get 8M for him is a class bit of business by Levy!
Hopefully the 1st of many that need to be shhipped out.... Robbo, Daws, Kaboul, Tony.G, Rocha, Stalteri, Boateng, Zokora & maybe even Bent.
As soon as I saw the story this morning i was SURE that we'll be signing someone from Valencia very soon. Hopefully Albelda.
We definately wont be signind Joaquin, why would we put a statement out yesterday saying Lennon is staying, then buy Bentley and then go for Joaquin, dont make sense having 3 players fighting for one spot.
Its obvious JR wants to buy Capel or someone else for the left stop so I think Bentley will be playing on the right.
Can not wait for the Norwich game.
COYS
IF (the Daily Mirror and Daily Mail are to be believed and) Valencia are prepared to pay £8m or even Euros8m (and I were Levy) I'd bite their hand off somewhere just above the elbow.
In short, he is not a team/Spurs player.
It's all been said: he’s technically competent and started brightly, then in crept his infamous and largely fruitless forays forward at inopportune moments. And when we/Dawson needed his experience most, to help ‘lead the line’ in the early part of last season, he went and hid in the corner, the opposition’s.
Perhaps there is a lesson to be learnt, the manner in which he treated his former employers when he heard of our interest should have perhaps rung alarm bells; His reaction to Hutton’s arrival was unprofessional as it was when substituted in the Carling Cup Final, expecting us to lose.
Cheerio Pascal, have a nice life.
Reply to TMWNN:
JamieSpurs mentioned in a previous post the £6 million deal/robbery with Boro for Mido. If the £8 million deal for Chimbomba (as Pleat would have it) is true, Levy must be going into these deals with serious Kenny Craig eyes LINK or a gun.
Class clip TMWNN, forgot how funny Little Britain was...
But I have ITK scorces that say he always carries a Walter PPK into negotiations with him, dont tell anyone mate
This just cannot be true, well the fee at least. Chimbo is a decent(ish) player but he wants out the club wants rid and he's no spring chicken or defensive rock.
The only sour point is that he has always seemed the closest to Berbatov so who'll cheer up our moody main man now?
"I'd bite their hand off somewhere just above the elbow."
Where did you learn that kind of deep throat action, chirpy?
id be glad to see him go,, i for one couldn't stand it when he used to pull his pants down to his ankles ,like a gangster man from the bronx after the game

This was meant to be a reply to this post.
Spot on Jamiespurs.
I think TT deserves a one year extention, always give 100% in every appearence, sometimes more. Will never forget the way he played in the last Highbury game, shame about the 1-1 result but he was a Demon that day.
Moneynick.
I agree, at 8 million Valencia would definitely be paying over the odds. Particularly as we have already clearly got a replacement - a better one - for him.
However, there was a period when Chimbonda was touted as one of the best right-backs in the leage. Very strong, quite fast, doesn't lose the ball (often), a good-tackler and exceptional at heading. Basically very solid. Chelsea were reported to be interested in him a season or two ago - 10 million. And I would say Jose M knows a good player when he sees one.
Certainly worth well over the 2-3 million that was originally being reported. He came to Tottenham for 5 million and has not been a disappointment at all.
Harry. I'm not liking these Aston Villa-Bentley rumours that are flying around. Surely he wouldn't go there. I'll accept they have a couple of exciting players but they are so far off being a great team. Surely he wouldn't go there.. surely.
Oh no, who will david pleat have to mispronounce next season - aaron wingbomba? givanni dismantles? - also he'll have to keep prattling on about someone else being really dangerous in the air (maybe lennon would do again as I only ever recall sshimbo scoring one with his head anyway)
HH: you normally back up your articles saying that you have some inside news but I notice that you do not do this here - are you just relying on the bloody Daily Mirror and simply commenting here? I also find the GBP8m hard to believe, especially coming from Valencia who are short of cash and have admitted that they have to sell one of their bankable stars (the latest outgoing name being mentioned being Joaquin, with the club holding on to Villa and Silva).
I'd be glad to see Chimbonda go since we not only have Hutton but decent young cover in Gunter. GBP8m is not as unrealistic as some say but sounds quite good compared to the ridiculous 2-3m being mentioned in the press recently.
I'd also some to see some sort of swap, maybe for Poulsen.
Joe Lewis is the second richest owner in the premier league. Despite the fact he lost around 500 million (estimate, give or take 100 million, ha) when Bear Sterns fell under. Tottenham have been very conscious of not publicising this to openly to avoid inflated pricing. This is why - or one of the reasons why - all business goes through Daniel Levy. That is also why most business at chelsea goes through Kenyon.
They've been very shrewd though. Tottenham are still one of the few clubs to make a profit. The company is in the hands of some shrewd business men. Thats why we're the YIDS.
He was last seen queuing for Mr Whippy....
Bentley deal is taking quite a while to finalise... I would assume any deals that are in the pipeline will be completed before we travel to Spain for pre-season on Thursday?
See we've sold Forecast...Didn't see that coming (sorry) Will we get another GK? I'd like to see a Number 2 with a little experience to be honest!!!
I'll be glad to get rid of Shimbomba, he was great in his first season, since then he's been as bad as a one-legged man in an arse-kicking contest. A total liability with his aspirations of Right Wing glory! £8m would be one of the best bits of business any club has done since Southampton managed too offload Dean (Marco? Polo?) Richards for £8.1m to us!
I heard that Dan Levy is actually the Hebrew Hammer - LINK - He's just trying to do some goooooood, helping Ramos in the chooooooood
Bit bored today so knocked this up for you.

Hope you like it.

Nice one J2S, let's hope you can do a new one including a job lot of goals.
i admit to having somewhat of a soft spot for Jimmy Bonda...
will i be sad to see him go?? a bit..
will i be worried?? not a bit..
Harry, what do think of Lennon's hair?
On the Spurs site, there are pics of the training starting. Good to see King and Bale appearing to kick a ball and Berbatov nearly smiling. Encouraging to see Pekhart training with the first team as well.
coys
Yes theoriginaldannyboy, i checked that out on the O/S too.
it's definitely good to see Bale & King back in training, long may it continue... please somebody upstairs... Please!
As for Berba your right he almost looks happy? Is he feeling alright? or is there something we don't know??? Finally i think we will see Pekhart, slowly brought into the 1st team... especially now that there will be 7 subs.
Sweet J2S. Let's hope he turns into something great.
Oi Longlivetheking was my name for posting. i probably should have registered it. now im stuck with monkeycock.
Ledley's in training does this mean he will pull through?
I really hope so. It would be better than any signing if King has made a full recovery.
(Although that DM position keeps niggling at me)
monkeycock since when was that name your name?
While i am at it, why have you chosen that other name???
TMWNN the signs are looking good for Ledley, the mere fact that he is in pre-season training, from the very beginning is a very good sign in itself.
I think that, because of his well documented injury problems, fans think that he is automatically a sicknote markII.
On the old site i used to post under that moniker. what will be will be.
This pre season is really beginning to drag now. Its like waiting for christmas when you were ten.
Maybe Senor Ramos likes Zokora/Huddkenstein sharing dm duties?
Don't know about Ledders being back to fitness. It would be a bigger surprise than signing Villa. Pictures can deceive. Take Marcos's pre season diary, for instance. Is Lennon really gurning while levitating?
...And Malbranque looks like he has a case of wind.
'Van der Vaart told Dutch weekly Sportweek: "The interest has been there for some time already, but they (Tottenham) are not the club I want to go to. Tottenham are not a club I want to swap Hamburg for.'
Oooh... That Martin Jol is such a bitch.
I am none the wiser son, with regards to you using the same name as me before? But as you say what will be will be.
With regards to the new season, it is definitely gonna be another roller coaster... at the Lane for sure, and like every other Spurs fan, i just can't wait!
I just hope and pray my bubble, isn't burst come the 16th of Aug?
LLTK26, there's one thing doing a bit of training, but another playing back to back games.I won't believe King is properly fit until I see him string a few games together.
TMWNN fair enough and all those doubters may well be right, but i just want to try and be positive and hope for the best.
You never know if he is fully fit next season, he would be like a new signing... and WHAT a signing.
Long live the king! Sorry i couldn't help myself
I reckon if King wasn't an option he wouldn't be training. Good to see 9.37anon back; you been away son? Still crapping in your sleep? Want some of my daughters nappies? Oops, silly me; I forgot this is a blog, not a forum
To the technophobes like me, what IS the difference between a blog and a forum ?
Love the little faces by the way - why didn't they have computers when I was 11??????
coys
Blog: internet vehicle for Guardian readers and people who shit in their sleep.
Forum: internet talking-shop for primates and people who sleep in their shit.
Chimbo doesn't deserve Valencia. It was a great city when I was there about 16 years ago. Gorgeous girls, fantastic vibe. And (even better than doughnuts) churros.
8 million quid would be a stunning exchange, from our point of view. But maybe the figure is - like the 16.5 million we paid for Bent - a bit fluid.
You are of course right. Choombomba doesn't deserve Valencia. He barely deserves Layer Road. And down there he might prefer oven gloves.
Thanks for the definitions 9.37 lol.
By the way is your pic a doughnut or a bagel ?
Don't fret monkeycock I think that name suits you much better. It's somehow more honest. There's at least 26 longlivethekings there's only one monkeycock.
Those wretched smiley things are animated. I want one that laughs and pounds the floor with it's fists. And one with a machine gun. Any other reguests before I email the Septics?
Yeah, the clown one, the rolling on the floor with laughter one, the shoot yourself in the mouth one and the worship one. Ta
It's a bagel, ODM.
Which reminds me of the woman who goes to a baker's shop and asks the assistant for some rolls.
"Of course", says the assistant, and points to the baker at the back of the shop, rolling the dough, tearing pieces off and shaping them into rolls under his armpits before putting them in the oven.
"Err... On second thoughts, maybe not", says the woman, "Isn't that a bit unhygienic?" she asks.
"You think that's bad!" says the assistant. "You should see the way he makes bagels!"
Harry. I'd like a smiley thing that killed gooners, except wrighty7, who is pardoned as he has a sense of humour and is atypically not arrogant
Which puts me in mind of the butcher who was sacked for putting his todger in the bacon slicer...
*looks around for Basil Brush*
Well, as I consider myself a proper yid (that's above and below the waist) I can tell you that all my life I've known it to be spelt with an A and the Oxford English Dictionary seems to agree. However, as it is a transliteration from yiddish I guess anything goes.
Add to that the fact that I am dyslexic, dyspraxic and A.D.D I am probably in no position to judge.
Pretty certain I've been through the door. But a few years ago. Is it a small enough place? Bar on the... left as you go in? I'd been doing some 'extensive research' in the Ten Bells earlier...
TWMNN Mrs onedavemackay agrees with you !
No surprise there then
Coming back to the serious stuff, why are we yet to unload dozens of surplus players ?
Evening HH
Ansa machine
I would be scared of if answer esp if it was "yes"
Well popular urban myths of the moment include Sir Tony off to Stoke and sadly too the departure of HH fave TT... where he's bound I know not.
Bonsoir, LOTW...
I don't know him, just have an extensive contact list of fences and costamongers
But you would have thought that quite a few of them would be gone by now.
By the way Harry, was the Albelda thing based on any knowledge or was it just a punt by you ?
What a joke! The powers that be at Valencia is still out of their minds. Overfricken priced. I know they are desperate to get rid of Miguel and Del Horno, but can ya sell the players first? What do they have now 37 players on the roster? Uggh.
ODM informed punt? Heard a vicious rumour about this Valencia thing ooooh, er.. yesterday and thought I'd revive the tale. I was slightly dissappointed that the none of the papers ran a ... 'And Albelda will be used in this transfer' spin as it would have made me look positively like Claire Voyant. All that said, we desperately need someone like him at The Lane.
Excellent news. Would eulogise about Chimbonda's "dismissal" more if I thought the guy was a decent human being. But I can't be arsed, other than that just to say - £8 million? Sweet.
H. We desperately DO need someone like him.
Maybe the Grauniad will pick it up................
Very small pub, Harry. Good atmosphere. A few yids drink there. Bar on the right. Maybe you walked in backwards...
Barring Modric, our targeted players have 'difficult' relationships with their clubs. Dos Santos wants regular football. Gomes and Albelda have disputes with their chairmen/president/coach. Each already has a motive to leave his club and arrives at Spurs hungry (we hope) to excel.
Is there a CB somewhere that - as well as being any good - is at odds with his employee?
"Is there a CB somewhere that - as well as being any good - is at odds with his employer?" Erm, how about Kaboul?
I'm getting flashbacks. 9.37. Does this juicer have any WWII memorabilia? In particular my Indian Spirit Guide, Dave is telling me... picture/model of Spitfire/Lancaster bomber or similar? Promise, I'm not on a wind up...
Unless we can swap Kaboul and cash for Diarra, I think we should keep Kaboul.
I'm in Spitalfield's/Brick Lane Wednesday, thanks for the tips.
Does anyone know what is Chimbo's situation regarding that police enquiry? Last I read of it he was released on bail.
Would bail conditions allow him to move to Valencia?
new writer here
great chat, keep it up.
personally very chuffed with the current squad.
we've improved well, there's some deadwood that needs to be shipped no doubt (pascal, tt, lee y-p, tony g etc.). I'm not convinced by the rumours of medicals etc. but fancy we'll get Bentley. After that i'm satisfied.
Of the targets we've been linked with: -
I dont like the chat about capel, he's a busy body like aaron, buzzes around but will not give us anything more than steed offers. Podolski has a cracking strike on him, thats it. does he even have a position?
And albelda? the guy has some class but lets not forget how slow the game is in spain compared to the prem. can we really expect him to come in at 33 and offer something?
My ever so humble opinion is that this obsessive need for a defensive midfielder (DMC or whatever we're calling it) is a bit of a myth. Granted time has shown that a vieira, keane, makelele etc can lead a team but look at last season, united usually played with scholes and carrick, and the scum with fabregas and flamini. None of those fit say the Davids mould of player. If we can get a World class player of that type (which Albelda certainly is not) then great. But there arent many around so i'll take the variety of tommy, jj, didier and luka. For me that'll do
"...thanks for the tips."
Not an over~used phrase in the ODM household, one might imagine....
*runs like hell*
*
Not now, Harry. Maybe it did back then. Now it has photos of old London. Straight down Fashion St past the Ten Bells down to Brick Lane. Turn right, then first left into Heneage St.
Crouch Vale's great when it's on. When it's off, I just stare at the hand-pump.
"i'll take the variety of tommy, jj, didier and luka. For me that'll do"
Barring Modric, you're welcome to 'em.
we can be heroes, just for Juande: Welcome. Point well made about DM. Maybe we just need another Perryman or a Lothar Matthäus type to dare I say it, Bring It On?
Harry, when I lose my sense of humour you have my full permission to shoot me.
O'dannyboy. the Kaboul thing besides being true made me laugh.
we can be heroes, just for Juande - welcome mate. A brave man that you are though; dismissing TT as "deadwood" Ouch, him being a particular favourite of Headmaster Harry. Detention methinks.
By the way H, where's me 100 lines ?
"Crouch Vale's great when it's on. When it's off, I just stare at the hand-pump."
Exactly what the boys in HR are currently looking for. A heady cocktail of intent & bloody mindedness.
Fashion Street. Memory Lane. £60 Leathers made of of Buffalo hide. When they made'em the buffalos were hiding.
*We need a smily clutching a cloakroom ticket...*
Sodding hell. I just checked my profile and I've got 2 friends !!! Pissing myself; how fecking sad is that? Virtual friends !!!
Is this Myface or Spacebook in disguise? Do we all start dating each other soon? Bagsy I ain't going with Bimi

OG Dannyboy:
I will not ask bloggers for cocaine.
100 times please, Dannyboy!
One might say that TT is a favourite of the vast majority on this blog. Not just the Head.
O'dannyboy your lines are waiting for you in the gents as per usual.
ODM - who you calling a smackhead? Just for that I ain't gonna make you my virtual friend
I think he was was branding you more of a crackwhore, mind you, I probably started it.
By way of an apology, drop into The Spitalfield Arms and enjoy a bottle of Bolly. Tell'em to put it on my account. They know me there...
Failing that, try The Spitalfield Arms.
*'tisks' to himself and slopes off to bed*
TT's a fan and a player. I'd like him to stay, but I suspect he'll be gone before long.
According to Wikipedia, he is a resident (as is Alan Curbishley) of Abridge. It adds, 'There is no train service from Abridge, though at one time a branch from Debden was proposed.'
Dear Danny and we were starting to get on........ sobs into glass of Crouch Vale
I hope there's an employment agency there, Curbishley will need one in September.
Harry, you drink in the ten bells? Do you know The Gun opposite spitalfield market, brushfield street? Also, sorry to be a bit tedious, but any word on bentley?
Steve, Bentley, bar gawd knows what, will be revealled as a Yid, HH willing, before the Spainish jaunt...
Latest news on Bentley from Harry's mates at Guardian online LINK
Sorry for straying way off topic, but this isn't on LINK
monkeyminge: I've emailed Boris and have ordered extra pineapple rings (just) as precaution. Let's just hope you're wrong.
Bentley for Lennon and Bent? Wrap up it up I'll take it.
should probably forget about capel.... if his quotes on sky sports website are true
I wonder if any of the Aberlines use this blog, they might find a new suspect!!
Good evening Mr Hotspur, would you mind telling us where you were on the evening of Sep 8th 1888?
Harry, are you sure this oleole lot aren't a load of gooners?...cos when I go to the oleole main page and click on the link to your blog..it takes me to the friggin arse blog!...this is either a unforgivable mistake for which heads should roll...or someone is simply takin the piss!

Definitely a presence in the dressing room we can do without
I cannot believe the fee... £8m!?
Only a few weeks ago, the media were saying he would go for as little as £2-5m, so if this is true i will be delighted.
It will also prove that Levy and Spurs are no mugs, and that they know how to drive a hard bargain.
