There are reports of an extremely unsubstantiated nature flying around the t'Interweb this afternoon that THFC have been in earnest and fruitful negotiations with human draft excluder, ladies man and sometime celebrated footballer Peter Crouch.
As suggested previously I think this would be a positive thing not to mention an incredibly Arry type signing.
There will be a divide amongst Yids of course. Between those who have an interest in football and those who just like to shout freak at people.
The reality is that we aren't getting Huntelaar or Cole and we've seemingly more chance of getting Seigfried & Roy than Van Nistleroy.
Would Crouchy really be such a rotten signing?

I've just had an email in from Norman Giller. You know, that degenerate behind The Lane Of Dreams. Uncle Norm has been offered a deal with THFC and the book will shortly be available via the Club.
And you guessed it, the price will increase to £30. Mmmn.
As a thank you to HH for the considerable quantity of this magnificent publication sold via HH, Norm has agreed for any of you lot who want a last minute copy autographed by both Jimmy Greaves and Stevie Perryman he will supply from a now VERY LIMITED STOCK at only £25 delivered.
All you need do is email Norman HERE making sure you quote HarryHotspur to insure you get yours before Levy & Co dip their beak.
A copy went recently on Ebay for £50, so you do the maths.
A big thanks to Norman for the heads up and looking after the troops.

I believe Keith predicted the book would go up to ÂŁ30 when it went in to the THFC shop.
Crouch would be a great signing
Harry, could you not posted a pic of Abbey instead??
Like I said about Carew, not exciting, but a decent PL striker, who offers something different. As you said, an HR type of player. If the money isn't too dear, I won't complain much.
crouch would be a great signing
we sold him for 65k and would have to spend 14 mil to bring him in would rather stick with bent....

a four footed centre forward is just what we've been looking for !
Why would Crouch be such a great signing??
Is he better than Bent first of all, considering he has scored more premier league goals than the robot in the last 3 seasons!!!
I'm just pleased you wrote 'maths' and not 'math' - that really gets my goat.
As for Crouch, just look at the photo FFS!
why oh why is he such a bad striker for our beloved spurs outfit , well him and defoe can always play well together and have the ablity to leave defenders thinking about what to do , as opposed to stick with there game plan , all we can hope that we do not sell the small players who need to adapt , and who will be worth a few bob more in a season , and buy a few players at most keep the team togther insted of all these changes unlike some i dont need us to be in the headlines, not for transfers just for a top 4 finish
I like the idea of crouch. Now, if you'll excuse me, im going to take off al my clothes and intertwine feet with someone, on boat.
What surprises me is how you lot get so carried away.
Harry ye .........HARry is as slippery as a bag of Ells. Every transfer window since I remember him he deals late very late he wiats for squeaky bum time and trys it on!!!
He also loves a pension contract player....Kanu,Judas,James,Merson,de canio etc.......He also buys some total crap and some very good.........lets be honest Bellamy was and is a total nightmare for a club like ours (our boys love a drink and a fall over )Beckham no thanks how about finding some young prospects that we can seel to shiteh for 45mil evry year..........
Question : What on earth do Tottenhams scouts do?We dont bring any players from the lower ranks into the first team? So what do our scouts get paid for?
Well Crouchy wouldn't be my first choice (probably not second, third or fourth either) but it wouldn't be the end of the world - at least he can hold up play and gives us a better option in the air - don't forget Sandra is better in the air than Bent!
Reply to ant:
I would like to keep Bent and get rid of Pav. i have seen enough of Pav to know he aint gonna get any better and i dont buy that bullshit about him not having a break in the last 2 years.
In Crouch you would have a striker who has a bit of everything, he has scored goals in the premier / champions league as well as international level
If we do end up signing him... Would we have to produce new kits??
I know we do XXLarge, but we'll then need XXLong
What price? he is worth no more than 5/6 million more shite that could not cut it at Anfield.
I'd welcome (back) Crouch to WHL. But, interesting to note that last season:
[Starts-Sub-Goals]
Bent - 28-15-17
Crouch - 48-1-16
BONFIRE OF THE ITKs
Have you noted the most recent offerings from 'Archibald' (always good value I feel) et al on SC and Odius, concerning Beckham, Vieira and Sissoko?
Crouch and Defoe started to develop a good partnership at Portsmouth. Would be interesting to see if it would work at Spurs.
Reply to Chirpy:
So Bent is better than what `Arry is about to buy
and her arsehole is Crouch - is this what you mean or do I have the wrong end of the proverbial?
I'm sure such a gallant offer has been missing from her life.
I don't know how she would cope with such a gallant offer. I'm sure she'll be in a frenzy of indecision.
spurs offered for crouch a couple of weeks back but the deal was significantly below his current contract with portsmouth...
Crouch started his career with Tottenham. I think we need a tall striker. Given that Keen and Defoe are only slightly taller than his shin pads, Crouch would finally give us a chance in the air in the box.

You should apply for the job of chief scout, chief transfer negotiator and chief aggravation executive.
Problem is we'd only bid for the players you want. And when they refuse you'd be screwed.
As a sideline you could bend the arms and ears (and other nasty torture) of top professional footballers to MAKE them sign for 'Spurs. Just keep writing the same old, same old based on rumour alone.

Reply to Bruxie:
I don't know, who did?
If we are going to improve as a club we need to buy better players than what we already have and Crouch is not. I would much sooner keep Pav and Bent if nothing better is available. The one thing we cant do this season is spend lots of money on average players as we have done every season, we must try to get players like Berbatov, klinsman, Ginola etc. What was it that Bill Nicholson said about it being better to fail aiming high etc...
Reply to BruceCastle:
who's keen? keen for what? Abbey Clancy?
Not every manager gets him I'm sure. But 'as an option' i'd accept him. I really dont want him to replace PAvs, who will be massive for us this year.
The only thing about Crouch is that if and when Harry goes, whether its this October, next January or two years, the new man in will probably sell Crouch. He's an acquired taste (i dont mean taste of licking his asshole either)
Reply to Chirpy:
Bent, Defoe, Crouch and Pav up front - perm any two from four.
Get rid of Keane, please!

I'd welcome Crouch. I understand peoples concerns, but for too long Spurs have bought players without the team in mind - loadsa talent, just cant fit in to the same system/compliment each other, regardless of who's better than who. However, Crouch and Defoe are quality together. It would be an intelligent signing with the TEAM in mind - which is exactly why we will probably buy someone else!
Reply to SLY:
too true! we'll buy someone who is good but don't fit in!
i'd be happy with jd and crouch/carew up front with a decent left winger and play modders behind jd and 1 other with wilson acting as minder!

Rhino's a self confessed ring licker, funny !! I'd have her sit on my face for a while though
As for Crouch, rather keep Bent tbh.
Surely we have more pulling power than Stuttgart??! Just not as much as Crouch it seems...

until I realized Arry wasn't selling players out of a wagon.
Peter Crouch? Don't misunderstand me. I quite like him. But do I like him above Bent or Pav? No. Do I think we'll like him as he gives away the umpteenth free kick for an offence known to us educated watchers of the game as "for being so tall"? No. Will I be critical of this purchase (if it happens) as Crouch's tally for the season will be a paltry 5 when Bent has scored 12 for the Mackems on A N Other - assuming that's how it'll go? Of course. The problem with Crouch is precisely his height. It causes as much of a problem for the team that has him as it does his opposition. And I would take Pav over any of this motley crew we've been linked to.
Cue the year 2018, when we'll be linked with a ÂŁ25 million bid to bring back Obika to the Lane.
There is only one striker I think we need to ditch. He goes by the nickname "PSB". Fuck I'm bored of this "In Harry We Trust" BS, too. Our fickle lot were screaming "In Ramos We Trust" until the start of last season. I get his job is made harder with the presence of a Big 5 (City incl.). But by the same token it doesn't mean we need to be selling wood to buy chaff, either.
Did anyone else get the club newsletter today? This photo was on it.

Crouch is not the quality of player I would have hoped for. We would be better off keeping what we have - except Keane.

Nope. Been doing 'A' bird
Bent is awful, I can't believe you'd rather have him than Crouch - think of the goal opportunities Bent missed last season. I can take that if he's giving you another angle but for such a big bloke he doesn't hold the ball up well enough, probably because his first touch is woeful. He's also sposed to do the 100m in 10.8secs but when ever I saw him play and wanted to see this in action it was like he was running through treacle - even against older statesmenesque players, the first 10 yards is in the head and he got 4 GCSEs - no footballing brain, would run alongside lennon rather than dragging players away on the break, would never make good runs into the box, no wonder Harry took the piss out of him, so frustrating. He'll defo score for whoever he goes to because they'll just keep lumping it up to him, which is why he was successful at Charlton - he'll also be in my FF team but not spurs hopefully
Crouch on the other hand has proven it at england level with his goal scoring ratio. Scores, holds the ball up well and lays it off, maybe not as prettily as Berbs but effectively. Doesn't win as many headers as he should but still a lot more than Bent. He's also got a good understanding going with Defoe, Harry obviously loves him. Prem experience and young - will only get better, and may get up to 8 stone in a few years. And if you all think Bent is better than Crouch then why is Crouch always in the England team/squad and Bents nowhere near?
Carew would be equally as good as crouch - bit older though and injury prone.
Hopefully we'll see the back of Keane and get 12M for Harry to play around with - would like to see Pav given another year - needs to learn the lingo though, lazy bastardo on and off the pitch

Today, institutions fundamental to the British system of Government are under attack: the public schools, the house of Lords, the Church of England, the holy institution of Marriage, even our magnificent police force are no longer safe from those who would undermine our society, and it's about time we said 'enough is enough' and saw a return to the traditional British values of discipline, obedience, morality and freedom.

I like Harry: given our position after 8 games what he did was awesome especially with his management of the playing staff. My fear with him however is that he is the very best of the rest; a man who can do better than the managers of the bottom 14 teams. I fear too that we are now planning a campaign to avoid relegation and get to mid table safety with a chance of nicking Euro qualification with a 'good cup run' or the rub of the green on the fixtures.
With what is happening at Citeh and maybe Pompey and who knows who's next, we will become a club that resembles the very classy family with the titles, country house, land, but no money and has to conduct tours of their house whilst the nouveau-riche cherry pick the silver and paintings. We will become a feeder club. The real problem here is that in the long term the money behind football wants to consolidate, a European league and eventually a world league; staggered games every fortnight with ManU Vs Real, Barca Vs Santos, AC Milan Vs Chelski: THFC are not even on the horizon for a Euro league let alone a world league and we are slipping further back each year.
Of course noone has been unveiled yet, but staking our ability to stay near and remain in contention for a position in the new top flight on Mr Crouch is a huge gamble especially when you put his name in the list with the top 5s key strikers, Torres, Rooney, Drogba, etc,
Big money is keen on getting a stake in the EPL as it can do a Chelski or a Citeh and I have no doubt that our owners would sell at the right (ridiculous) offer. But the next few seasons is the time to invest and make sure we stake a claim at the top table, after that we will be in real danger of being cut loose when the inevitable Euro league gets put back on the table.
With the World Cup happening and good players wanting pitch time, missing out because we won't pay the market rates will be a chance to avoid being marginalised, gone begging.

pumping long balls at a man with no first touch, cant head a ball to save his life, weighing in with a hefty 10 goals and 4 assists all season , whilst trying to sell a goalscorer and a man like pav , who has more skill in his ball bag than that lanky cretin has in his whole body, hopefully the threat of crouch is bollocks.....
while your at it harry , why not sell woodgate and buy...richard dunne, keeping the selling quality and replace it with shit theme going, oh happy days are ahead, i recon a crack at maybe 7th or 8th is on the cards this year, fucking hell, last year we bought real quality , modric and gomes for example and this year crouch and fucking stewart downsyndrome, ffs

We are Pompey Hotspur now

Was he? We dont like him, and he's not a superstar, but I wonder how big a role he had in our turnaround off the field.
Its dead on here today. SOmething needs to happen soon.
Revisiting former players is something that we no longer need to do post JD (greedily wanted him back post his Pompey improvement) and PSB (grateful for his 'impact' on arrival, but still resentful of his captaincy).
I would only have 2 players back from recent departures and that would be Carrick and Berbacunt. Simply because these players made a difference. Crouch, in my humble, would not make enough of a difference for me to care to evoke any form of emotion other than despair; that we can no longer provide the pull and challenge to get great players.
I still have hope that we sign players that we need, and can coach the ability and winning mentality back into the players we have.

He did somethings well when he came back. I recall some lovely interplay with modders and lennon, and some fine through balls. But for the most part, these contributions were overshadowed by mistrust and the fact that he was handed the captaincy hence not being dropped even when he played like shit.

sorry about my spelling. I meant Croch.
True - but at the time it was a good signing for us, definitely contributed to us having a successful second half of the season.
I still hate him though. Jumped ship when he had it made. It'll take a big season from him and a few kisses of the badge to make me like him again. I'd imagine he could get every Spurs fan in the world on side by scoring against Liverpool on the opening day, doing the cartwheel and really going to town with his celebration. If he were to score and not celebrate to show respect to an ex club then he can fcuk right off.
Why are we still seeing these rumours about interest in Kenwynne Jones? I'd rather see a good left back and a complement to Wilson come in. We don't need much else.

DO you knoe anything about Danny Fox from Coventry, who is rumoured to be joining us for ÂŁ5m? I know O'Hara had been keeping him out of the U21 LB slot before he got injured. I've a mate who follows Coventry and he told me ages ago when Coventry signed Scott DAnn and Danny Fox from Walsall that they were both great. Dann has already moved to Birmingham, could FOx be next? And will he be any better than Bale?
he,s rubbish could think of stronger words but might not have made it onto site, signing him would show we have not got a clue of what to go for in the transfer market
I'd rather we went for Martins than Crouch, wouldn't cost the earth either...
The signing of crouch would poss be the worse signing we have ever made, we sold him for 100k for a reason, he's shit!! I will be gutted if we sign him. He cant jump for shit, cant head a ball or run, he only scores against crap teams and is is best off in the champ'ship league.
This seems a bit more like it....

Interview on Talksport earlier with Graham Hunter, who is a journo based in Madrid.
He said that Real Madrid 23 year old striker Alvaro Negredo is 95% likely to come to the Premier League, with us being the most likely destination. Apparently our people have already been over there doing the deal. He scored 19 goals on loan to Almeria last season.
The only sticking point is that he is being pushed towards Liverpool by Real as part of their offer for Xavi Alonso and it's his dream to partner Torres (heard that before?)
Lots of footage on youtube.
Have a look at this wikipeadia site for Negredo. Say his current club is Tottenham - well if true, that wa sunder the radar

Thats strange. Shows him as a player in 2009. Lets hope it's true.
Info for anyone who likes a little outside bet. Just had a call from a mate who was at the Bournemouth v Saints friendly this afternoon. He said he was sat 3 seats along from David O'Leary. With Saints looking for a new manager, put 2 & 2 together and make the answer whatever you want.
Negredo wouldn't bother me at all, but seriously, we should keep Bent...his goals to games ratio last season was great, much better than Crouch's...Negredo and Maxi Rodriguez and Dunne would be a great haul for the summer...
It shows his curren club as Real Madrid, dont know what you are looking at.
Would he be a better signing that Crouch or Jones though? Just because he is foreign, has a fancy name and comes from Real Madrid doesnt mean he'll cut it. I really think Jones could be an outstanding footballer given the right coaching and right team. However, I'm all for Pavs being our no 1 with JD.
Weird - the wikipedia link has been changed back to Real madrid
