David Bentley Sensational Tittle Tattle

Wednesday, 18 June 08, 10:35 AM · Comments (109)

There really is a time and a place for sensationalist tittle tattle and a that's a slow news day!...

This appeared on the excellent Spurs Community today from a chap called Yiddotillidie.

"Not disclosing the source cos quite frankly I can't.

But my mate (fellow member on this board) has a friend who is best mates with 'X' who is very very very well connected to Spurs, very well connected. He says that ignore the papers (we all do anyway), cos the following are done deals, already agreed and wrapped up.

Lassna Diarra - 100% Yid
David Bentley - 100% Yid
Ruud Van Nistelrooy - in talks

Now, I know some on here will now begin to throw the knives and shoot this down, but in the past when this source has released info before i have won lots and lots of money.

Take it how you like, but WHEN this becomes public knowledge and you decide to shoot me down, I'll be here to accept your apologies......."

Now, what value this has I can't tell you, but again I do love a poster who just throws out their info and says,'So Shoot Me!'

Back from the world of dreams it would mean that Bentley was prepared to ignore what are said to be serious overtures from Liverpool including taking UEFA footy over CL. This info would also demand that all Harry Redschnapp's recent rhetoric over young Diarra was just that, nothing more.

I heard talksport at 17.30 and they said then that the rumour was that Bentley was to close to signing for Spurs.

One of the sports readers on Talksport is Pete Abbott who is the stadium announcer at WHL (he wasn't the one who did the sports bulletin at 17.30 though). He would be well in the know I would imagine, but probably not worth his job(s) feeding that sort of info to the station. Just co-incidence?

Let's hope the signing comes to fruition!

As unquantifiable as all this stuff is, the gulable chump in me cannot resist the temptation to imagine this to be true. Hope obscures all reason - pathetic isn't it? England's non particpation at the Euros is prompting unprecedented levels of white noise amongst us all. No doubt we're interested in Diarra & Bentley, just can't see Pompey releasing Diarra. Why should they, he's under contract, just joined, and their best player. Bentley isn't beyond the realm of possibility, as he favours London - and I doubt he'll be Scolari's priority in that position, so it's between us and the Scum, and whether Hleb does a runner. Regardless, I would have thought our finances must be getting a bit tight for all this, unless Levy's tied up a few sales. RVN I can't for the life of me see this happening?! I tired to imagine - maybe if we agreed a deal for Berbs to Los Blancos...?...who knows it's all hot air to fill the void left by no England at said Euros, and pretending to like cricket. Actually had a dream last night where Berba was being caned by Levy, Ramos, Keane, and Ledders to sign a new deal - and it worked. Bizare - I'm thristing for pre-seasons before I turn perculiar.

Would much prefer Capel and Veloso to Bent-ly and Diarra as both clearly have gandiose egos. I heard that the Capel deal was done but for a tax issue, where Spurs wanted Seville to stump up half, seems a bit cheeky, and we should just cough up as this kid is pure world-class. Didnt hear the bit on sky sports regarding him though. With regards to Veloso, this could be the best signing of the summer, better than Modric, Jonnie two Saints and keeping Berba altogether. Only Danielle de Rossi is currently better in that position that Veloso. But Harry, where did you get your info regarding this being a done deal and what sort of figures. The last I heard was a statement released by the Veloso camp that he would announce his future and the Euros, but the Chelsea were in the driving seat. Surely we must be looking around the ÂŁ20m mark, and what could attract him to spurs???

Saying that, Capel on the left wing, Giovanni on the right wing, Modric and Veloso in the centre could possibly convince Berba to stay. I think Veloso would be the key. I dont think we need to worry to much about defence, despite last year. Woodgate seems to have gotten over his injury blight and IF the King gets better, we potentially have on of the best centre back pairings in Europe. Dawson and Kaboul make excellent cover, plus the Hudd and Dorian Dervitte. WE DONT NEED ANY DEFENDERS DESPITE WHAT EVERYONE THINKS!!!

Hmm,is all this linking of players a ploy by the papers to make us waste our hard earned cash on buying 2&3 papers a day!!! We have been linked with enough players to field 3 teams next season (and still not finish in the top 4!!)
Bentley, not really sure about him to be honest nice nasty streak though. Diarra, unless Kaboul is being swapped proberly unlikely & Ruud, NEVER WILL HAPPEN! why would he come to us?? im sure others offering more money will step in(unless as above Berba is off the other way?) on Kaboul, i feel that we are being to harsh on him, his first season, young player and perhaps im missing a trick here but why not try him as a defending/holding midfielder? He is very mobile, can tackle/pass/shoot perhaps this would be a better position for him, any takers?? Same as Zokora, i like him, always gives hundred percent, every time(unlike some others)yet i fill he is used in the wrong position, surely he is an attacking midfielder not defensive? Think it would be a shame to see either go when perhaps they are not being used to there possible full potentional.

Harry Redknapp was meant to do tonights Russia v Sweden game as a pundit for ITV but pulled out at the last minute. Assuming there are some transfer antics afoot for him. Plus Pleaty revealed Spurs had Hiddink in for talks about the hot seat but he took South Korea job instead.

Sorry, nothing to add to will we/won't we sign...Bentley, Diarra, Veluso, Capel, RVN or other.

Bentley and Diarra would be class not fussed about Van though. If we get them 2 all we'll need is a quality goalie like Boruc and a top notch CB and we'd be set maybe Capel also too give us afew more options on the left wing.

Lennon would make a quality impact sub as he could come on in the last 20 or 30 minutes and be very affective. Ramos also likes rotating when he has the players to do it sort of like Benitez at pool but not as bad.

We need to face it, Berba is off. Rumours on the 606 boards from a 100% reliable ITK (I Talk Kaka?) have mentioned a meeting having taken place wherein Levy told Berbz to name his price and Berbz told Levy he wants out, unfortunately for us. Whether these prospective deals are done or not, i believe them to definately be targets for us. As peeps have already stated, i think the sale of Berba (hopefully to Barca and not Utd) will be the money maker for us to negotiate with.

Bentley would be a great addition to the squad, Lennon is clearly fading and a quality cross into the box was sorely missed last season.

Zokora needs replacing quick sharp, simple as. Diarra would indeed be the seasoned prem player that would slot in quickly and do a great job at holding and breaking up play, another thing we lacked last season.

We need to replace Berba, Villa wont come, Podolski is a possibility, but i'd still prefere the Van Ruudboy. Wages may be an issue, but regular European football kinda smooths that one over. Worth the money and would fire off immediately, no breaking in.

I love all the rumours.

Bring em on.......

UAE Consortium buyout rumour, true or not, makes me think of Levy in a new light. Never thought I'd say it, but I hope he holds on.

12m ? for that sort of money we could probably signed Arshavin.

Bentley....though not bad at all. In my opinion.

I cant see us signing both Diarra AND Veloso. So someone ITK is clearly not.

Old Horse Face would certainly plug a sulky Bulgarian shaped gap in our frontline for the next season or so.

Signed Bentley? Would love it if it was true. Awaiting confirmation...

I also like the fact we've apparently turned down offers for Bent. Though I am only too aware others will disagree with me regarding that.

Quite fearful that if crying Cristiano goes to Madrid, ManUSA will up the ante on Berb (last place I want him to go etc.)Milan apparently don't have the cash, but they do have a hard-on for Adebayor(Please God!)Maureen wants Fat Frank & Drogba at Inter, hopefully this is true, I'm sick of those 2 cunts.

No sign of Bentley's signature yet..Harry I think we'll sign one from Diarra & Veloso, are they both DM no? Capel's a no go, Sevilla still suffering from an acute case of sour grapes given to them by Mr J.Ramos. Van Horseface would be ok I think for a season or two?

My "source" IN THE KNOW (his initials are DL) tells me that:

Bentley turns down Spurs for a ÂŁ50 move to Team Bath, Berbatov sold in swap deal for Diego Forlan, and David Ginola resigns for Spurs from French Club L'Oreal FC (fee yet to be disclosed, but expected to be 3 or 4 bottles of shampoo).

By the way, DL doesn't stand for Daniel Levy.
It stands for Des Lynam :D

I know our beloved press aren't known for their editorial accuracy in such matters, but for none of them to have had a sniff of (any aspect of) the Bentley/Diarra/RVN multi-mega-swap-transfer-bombshell stretches my 'suspension of disbelief' to the max; When mysterious 'ITKs' *laughs* have unearthed the biggest of Spurs' scoops.

Dream of a midfield containing Diarra and Bentley I am happy to do, but to harbour serious hopes of the same coming to fruition… nah.

What we do KNOW is that both Diarra and Redschnapps, and their club, have said Diarra is not for sale and will be a Portsmouth player next season; Bentley reportadely held a childhood fascination for Spurs, so much so that he joined Arsenal's junior ranks.

It's actually not uncommon for Levy to get transfers to cross the finish line without the press being all over it like stink on a monkey.

You haven't got to cast your memory too far back to the stealthy manner in which Luka was bagged and tagged.

Dearest Nunchuks,

Sorry fella, not sure where this mythical 'Levy smuggled Modric into WHL under cover of darkness' stuff comes from. the deal was reported in The Times weeks before, it just wasn't picked up by the red-tops.
