Enquiries Made For Second Goalie

Friday, 27 June 08, 11:46 AM · Comments (85)

Here's a juicy piece of stuff in relation to an understudy for our latest Boy From Brazil.  And it comes from a continuously impeccable source.

Scandinavian stopper Thomas Sorensen may well be on his way to The Lane. Sorensen's contract is up at Villa and Scott Carson might be a Pool player, but he's still Martin O'Neil's preffered choice and one which he made no secret of wanting to permanently sign.

The sticking point as we understand it is the contract length. Essentailly we initially offered a year long one and he wants two. This is thought to do with not wanting to uproot his family for the sake of a year which is fair comment. It also reflect that Ramos is not going to indulge staff loafing about on long contracts should they not deliver.

Sorensen is a strange choice as is he someone we would want to rely on if Gomes was injured?

Harry, any news on Bentley/Capel/Villa/Viviano?

We need experience all over the pitch, even at Goalkeeper P2, so this would be a good move. Still Hoping that Bentley ties up his move soon so we can search the net for the next signing on the horizon. (Capel?, Jarque? or that elusive DM)
Also for all those HOPING to see Senor Villa at the lane next here, unfortunately I think we will..... but in the colors of ManU!!! You heard it here first!!

I think Ramos will try to replicate the system that served him so well at Serville A 4,2,3,2. With 2 really quick wingers and overlapping fullbacks. Modric in the middle of the 3. Who are the 2 D Midfielders?

Cakey Bakey-ness. Pedantry is an unkind charge to make. So I'll just say....

Some 'hitherto' impeccable sources this season have, shall we say 'come a cropper' this time out. Ferdinand & Dunne medicals, anyone? This source has not suffered such a fate and so, not unreasonably, I called them 'continuosly impeccable.'

Which leaves you more Betty Crocker than Jane Asher.

KPB hasn't shown he's a good player? So you're basing how good he is purely on the one or two games every ten that he has played?

It's reasons like this that the big players don't want to come to us. One slip up and everyone is on his back. Yet, it these "fans" that still sing "England's Number One" despite mistake number 10,003 emanating from that waste of space Robbo... spot the hipocrisy.

Personally, I can't see Sorensen coming to us. Both he and Gomes are the type of 'keeper that would not relish long periods on the bench. I firmly believe we should promote from within.

What's this about Kaboul being in talks with Portsmouth and Middlesbrough?

Hypothetically - if a coach decides a player isn't up to scratch and resolves to sell him; and this same coach knows that the player was originally purchased under a deal by which his cost increases with appearances; is said coach likely to withhold using the player, so as to incur the smallest possible loss when the employee is sold on?

Kaboul still seems bemused by his lack of appearances after Juande's arrival. Apart from being an unreliable centre-back, how much is the imminent transfer fee an explanation?

dfm - Guten Abend, mon amis.

I agree with you on the COYS bit but KPB flattered to decieve. I know he didn't get many games, but he hadn't just fallen out of a spaceship.

He got a break in fact a couple. And largely blew it. I don't doubt he's got something. I championed him and his avante garde sleeve rolling. But he didn't deliver.

He may well have to move on to thrive. That's allowed. What isn't is to continue with players who basically aren't advancing the cause.

Trust me. There are little names off now. The bigger ones will follow suit should they hesitate this coming term.

Zokora has one eye on the meter. This season he may well flourish or finally be found out. His saving grace(s) for now might be that he is versatile and his stock is at an all time low. Classic Tottenham.

Well if Zokora isn't found out soon I'll go mad. If he even starts for us again I'll be in total dismay at JR. Also why do you people keep asking HH about players? What's the news on this, whats the news on that. Listen HH cannily reveals his info 10-15 mins after somebody else has done on newsnow, despite people still then offering praise despite the original story 3 stories down. Keep asking if you like, but until another website provides the info - he doesn't know. Hence the reason he always ignores your question or plainly says he doesn't know. It's not real, you only believe it is.

Also, since the superior technological firepower of Ole Ole kicked in we are blessed by many New guests who in initial bouts of naivety, occasionally tug my sleeve too often. 'When's Bentley... etc'...

I'll marshall that, not you.

As for your wild comment of me either ignoring people or saying 'I don't know' you really are being completely dishonest.

So, if this blog is such a low point in your book, how can I phrase this? Oh yes. Fuck off and go score someone who actually values your opinion.

I think of the Bentley I seen last season and when i was most impressed with him he was centre to left midfield. I also cant wait to see bale back in the team as I think he will alo add a lot more dimension. I dont know enough about dos santos to comment on positions or anything ut from what i have seen he does look a class act and hopefully can fit in anywhere. I would welcome Joaquin to WHL as I thinkhe is a winger who could make it big in the EPL but then do i prefer Bale at left back or Left Midfield? Dunno I guess well have to see! Whatever we have already got a massively improved squad to last season. I will close by adding my best wishes to Robbo who has been a true Spur and I think a new start is just what the lad needs. Brief mention was made here recently of Guillem Balague and his ITK credentials where Spurs matters are concerned.

He's now saying we are definitely making enquiries for Crouch.

So, to counterbalance our policy of recruiting midgets, we would have two new players - one at 6'4", the other at 6'7".

Which is nice.

Until you consider that all the team's height will be at opposite ends of the pitch.

I'm 50/50 on this one. Technically he's excellent and obviously has good aerial ability, but probably, due to his skeletal bag of bones like characteristics, just doesn't seem to fit the bill as the person to lead the worlds most stylish club into the CL.

What puzzles me most is that Ramos reportedly sees Crouch 'as someone who can occupy the role of Dimitar Berbatov', if Berbatov packs his bags. So says Guillem Balague.

But I struggle to see Crouch and Berbatov as like-for-like players. Berbatov may have grown a bit languid over the last season, but he still has an ability for explosive play, unlike Mr C.

Aesthetically, Spindleshanks doesn't FEEL right for the new-look Spurs. I suppose he has plenty of big-game experience, but he doesn't fit my expectations of an attractive Spurs.

But my expectations count for little. Personally, I'd like to see a squad of Elle Macphersons. Yes, we'd be bottom of the table, but we'd play attractive football and the kit would be a tease. Plus, Elle is 6'0" tall, so she'd be good in the air. Who needs Crouch?

Alnwick is a small town in Northumberland with historical connections to Sir Henry Percy - also known as Harry Hotspur.

It is fitting, therefore, that one Ben Alnwick should play for Tottenham Hotspur. The coincidence is too good to resist.

Regrettably, I cannot find any evidence from historical sources that Sir Henry Percy could actually catch a ball.

I hope that is not also a coincidence.

You can't be any worse than Bent and think of the money we'd save. That is unless the cost of tailor made shirts became exorbitant.

Totally off topic I know, but I was just watching a program called Last Comic Standing and there was an English comedian on there called Paul Foot. Now am I going mental, or is this the BEST Berba lookalike ever?

Yup, that's Berba. Moody s*ds, those comedians. One moment they're on a high, making you laugh and telling you how happy they are to be with you; the next they want to leave your club.

It's Berbatov and Dantchev - like Morecambe and Wise - with Dantchev the feed.

Surely, Berbs and Dantch are more like Pete and Dud ?
