Everton Indoors A Disgruntled PreMatch Prattle

Saturday, 29 November 08, 12:05 PM · Comments (169)

There's a weak joke about 'Toffees' and 'getting stuck' in there somewhere...

We've sat through some rubbish so far this season.  All the Flat Football Fairy can say in her defence is she has waved her wand liberally. As the table shows...

The last particularly cr*p game came courtsey of our prospective visitors this weekend and Wigan. The 0-0 scoreline was flattering. The game wasn't that exciting. And from what I heard this afternoon the fog spared many fans equally iffy outings from a number of teams.

Anyway, Everton. Osman, Arteta & Co all looked every bit shadows of their former selves.

This is my way of suggesting we ought not brace ourselves for the Toffeemen, but rather for another game as riveting as the Blackburn one.

Defensively we're good enough. King will continue making more returns than 'The Mac', add him to Woodgate and Corluka and that provides us with a be it irregular, but a sound enough combination.

Where the game will hinge for us is painfully obvious. Their names are Bentley, Jenas and Huddlestone. Will they turn up? Will the pitch be level enough? Will the Xtra Hold Moulding Clay do the trick? Who knows?

Luca Modric romanced us in a whirlwind. One minute we didn't notice the old girl and now we struggle to understand how we'll ever cope without her. He's not playing and he'll be hugely missed.

Pav and Bent are in dire need of service and this is the same malaise that drove away Defoe and endlessly frustrated the rat faced Bulgarian.

Determined to have a punt this Sunday? My tip is put on a very big coat and head for Cambridge.

Am confident about this one. 3-0 to the mighty Spurs. Pav and Bent to score them all between them. COYS

Hmm, home form pretty good, Jenas looks a bit upset at having to work a bit harder EVERY game for his place, expect a good game from him..Lennon on fire, back to his best..Its Bentley and Pav/Campbell that are the concern, if they put anywhere near a decent days work, we will win, easily? I predict a 3-3 draw as per my dream last night..

Hope you're right. Everton were grim midweek and didn't remotely threaten.

IF we can get the supply to our strikers right we can duff this lot up as you say....

If we instead opt to run around to no good purpose for 90 minutes we may as supporters have to take legal advice re refunds.

It was interesting to see that 'arry played Bentley in the 'hole' against NEC. Would he consider doing this against the Toffees? Play O'Hara on the left and Lennon on the right, with Jenas and The Hudd in the middle. I also see the return of BAE and Corluka as left and right fullbacks, and the return of our king/captain in the heart of the defense.
COYS!!!!!!!!!!

I think 3-0 is very overconfident. I'd take a 1-0 snooze fest anytime. Still I can't see it.

They've conceded more than we have this season, but they are still 4 points clear of us. That's due to a bit of pluck and a very fit side, judging by the points they've picked up late on. So i reckon the chances are we'll need to be two goals to the good by the last ten miutes or a score draw may well be in the offing.

I fear a "sock draw". A draw that smells of de-feet. Ho ho

Bentley needs to buckle up and perform. In terms of Pavlyuchenko, I think he puts in more effort than Bentley has of late and Bent is just useless unless he get's the delivery.

Lennon should start every important game and I wouldn't mind seeing O'Hara being used in there maybe on the left with Lennon on the right and Bentley as Sub.

I'm glad there's competition for places at last, it's about performance and current form not reputation!

After 30 minutes at 0-0, the away team will be reduced to hoofing it at Great One Makes Excellent Saves in the futile hope that he'll fling it into his own net. That's when he'll need our support, unlike last week when it was so quiet you could hear Olssen muttering "Mustn't foul Lennon, mustn't foul Lennon, ooops." 90 minutes extra drinking time will pay off, surely.

we owe this lot one at WHL.

Fellani or Felatio (whatever his name is) worries me, think the crosses will keep coming and hope we can stop that. Think BAE will be a better bet than Baler and Charlie at RB

as fo the other end, step up Lennon, the mans in form and i fancy him on the left, cutting inside and putting that ugly RB of theirs on his his arse; BANG 1-0

Depending which JJ and Thud turn up its either
1-0 either way or a 4-0 bent-fest with pav chipping one in (not literally) more a side foot from six yards

Expect a slow motion run from O'Hara right through the heart of their defence wih a blaster straight at the keeper when two players are waving their hands in space i predict this to happen in the 23rd minute.

Sounding a bit weary on this one - apologies guys - everton have never excited me

Ekotto
Lennon
Jenas
Huddlestone
O'Hara

Pavluyuchenko

Keeper, no choice, backline self explanatory in the middle, Corluka is easily our most composed right back and although Bale is starting to knuckle down a bit Ekotto, has been on better form with decent deliveries albeit at the cost of his going to sleep defensively. That's why I'd have O'Hara playing at LM to cover when necessary He's an all around worker, passer & occasional scorer!

Lennon is our star and the one player who causes most panic in the opposing half, whilst his pace and commitment has seen him develop a better all around game by chasing back and breaking up play or looking to steal passes, whilst his deliveries aren't always the best, they've been no worse than Bentley who's supposed to be a dead ball specialist.

I'd love Bentley to perform like we have seen him in glimpses but he's too inconsistent. Huddlestone provides us a little height in the middle of the park, we know Harry loves his big players, just look at the giants he gathered at Pompey, but Tom can't take anything for granted and I'd like to see him perform as he did against Zagreb, he was everywhere.

Jenas runs around alot, gives the ball away too much but if he performs as he did against Arsenal more regularly then we're ok.

Pavy is worth a start because I don't think Bent & him are as good to start as Frazier seems to be. He's probably better at holding the ball up and better in the air than Bent and with Frazier providing the pace, I'd give these two the edge over Bent for this game.

Its crazy to see so many people leaving Bale out of the team. He is, without doubt, one of the most exciting young players in the league with genuine premiership quality. No doubt, he is going to the very top, with Spurs of course.
I'm curious to know, are people leaving him out on form, choosing BAE ahead of him, or is this purely down to the fact we can't win a league game when Bale plays????

Thinks its obvious tomorrow, to me anyway. Based on current form and a certain mans curse, i'd go with
Gomes
Corluka King Woodgate BAE
Lennon Jenas Hudd O'Hara
Bent Pavs

Bale not playing as he is a scud, Bentley was very poor on Thursday and JOH probably deserves a start. Bentley should probably play on teh right, but after Lennons super show against Blackburn it would be a sin to move him to the left.

And i'm sticking with my earlier prediction of 2-0, Bent and Jenas :D

I'm worried that if we play with just Jenas and Huddlstone in the middle, Everton's 5 in midfield will over run us.

Unless of course we get an early goal and go on to thump them.

3-0 to us if Benny and Huddlestone get it together, 1-1 if not.

Is having 2 predictions cheating? :|

If Baler had a wooden leg, he'd still be a better player than that useless article arsehole-ekotto. BAE is like the left-back equivalent of chimbonda, without any of the talent, Awol is his middle name. I'd rather play a tame orang-utan, it'd have as much positional sense, and it'd be more entertaining.

For some reason I can see Bentley playing, but the right in the only place he can be effective, he cant play the modders role. Lennon possibly could though... but I cant see it.
Another win would be just fantastic, up to 13th, only 5 points of a European place, andm ore importantly, Ars*n*l. Imagine we caught them :D With a defence like theirs we have every chance.

Its crazy to see so many people leaving Bale out of the team. He is, without doubt, one of the most exciting young players in the league with genuine premiership quality. No doubt, he is going to the very top, with Spurs of course.
I'm curious to know, are people leaving him out on form,...

Now here's a man with what can only be described as a ferociously accurate team selection record.

What's YOUR team, Nostrodamus? ;)

NOt just team selection, but results :)
Thinks its obvious tomorrow, to me anyway. Based on current form and a certain mans curse, i'd go with
Gomes
Corluka King Woodgate BAE
Lennon Jenas Hudd O'Hara
Bent Pavs

Bale not playing as he is a scud, Bentley...

Good minds think alike :)
For some reason I can see Bentley playing, but the right in the only place he can be effective, he cant play the modders role. Lennon possibly could though... but I cant see it.
Another win would be just fantastic, up to 13th, only 5 points of a European place,...

Something about chickens and hatching springs to mind. 8O

Loss of form. Something is wrong with Baler at present. Undoubtedly, he will go on to be a legend, for us hopefully, but BAE is proving to be a better player, at the moment.
Where's Bimmi with his 'We can't win a league game with him' comment???? =D

If Baler had a wooden leg, he'd still be a better player than that useless article arsehole-ekotto. BAE is like the left-back equivalent of chimbonda, without any of the talent, Awol is his middle name. I'd rather play a tame orang-utan, it'd have as much positional sense, and it'd be more...

....and it's pricks like you who knock the players in the white shirt that really piss me off. I don't care who he is, while he plays for my club he gets my support; pity you don't think the same.

That'd be the same player who wants away to France would it?, and if pricks like you supported Bale a little more, perhaps he'd be playing with more confidence.

Read the link. Are you going to disagree with Sir Harry Redscnapps? If people actually watch the player, he's not half bad. Now HE has been given a run in the team, his confidence is improving and you can see why he was rated in France. If he leaves and joins a frog club, I'll berate him as much as the next man; while he's here he gets my vote.

Bae has the same bad habit as chimbonda, he goes mia and the fact that he's expressed a desire to go back to France just reminds me of berbatoss. I'll always support the team, and players who are going through a bad patch, but the disloyal can go fuck themselves.

BAE rarely deserts his own mad script which is : Play pretty well, go in hard, look like you care and then make at least two mindless errors.

For the bulk of most matches he has played in he looks pretty decent. If we could stop his mind going AWOL he'd be a decent player.

ODM,
Sounds more like a description of Daws, the thing is, I can forgive Daws, because I believe he cares and I have faith that he'll be the player we once new.
I don't, for one second, believe that BAE gives a rat shit for the team, the fans, or anything except his wages. Perhaps it's the PSG thing, maybe it's the phone calls when subbed.
I don't rate him for the mia or the fact he can't pass to a player wearing our shirt.
I just don't like him, end of.

I think you`ll find most of them would not play for Spurs if they were not paid, with the exception of King.It is unfair to single BAE he does his best it is all you can expect after all it is only a job to these boys.

FK. If you think I am a fan of BAE you're wrong . I was merely pointing out his regular performance style and I agree he does not give an impression of loving the badge.

Dawson gets a rough press on here. His first couple of seasons were just terrific with very few errors and his decline had more to do with Robbo than anything else.

He plays for the badge, has guts and a never say die attitude and I commend him to this blog.

Dawson has just gone 'off beam' and will, surrounded by the common sense and good communication now in place at The Lane make a comeback.

BAE is an altogether different prospect as I question his willingness to learn. Repetition of mistakes to me equals arrogance or daftness.

His hair is sometimes daft. So we could run him into a barbers.

As for his play, I wonder if he has plans to run off to la belle France?

Woeful. Truly woeful. I want to be alone.

Gomes did alright though. Corluka was good. Nothing in midfield or up front. Nothing. Nothing. Nowt. 0-1 is the correct score.

Game over. This team is so not a Redschnapp side. It's gonna be several months before we see his team and several more before they're up and running.

Can't see a Uefa cup place. League cup is a must. Especially with the 'big' clubs playing a 2nd eleven or youth team.

Come on you Spurs.

Gomes was great. We had no midfield out there though, so no service up front, King looked good up front at the end, lucky goal :\

obviously still pissed off...cause at home we should be beating everyone as far as i'm concerned....i don't want to sound like a cnut..but harry is no different to jol...he is not a magician...i like redknapp and i liked jol and harry keeps things simple...and should be able to buy a player or two and is hopefully in charge of most things football wise at spurs...so come on harry...
we are a young side so we have to be patient unfortunatley...we barely have anyone over 30 in the squad who plays...we have to remember this...well i am when we lose to shit, hardworking sides like that...coys...

It is hard to be positive when we are brought down to Everton`s level, they are a shower of spoilers. We missed Modric a player like him would make the difference against shite like that

your exactly right....modric can open up the oppostion...so hopefully harry will buy another one of them type of players in jan....
also for my christmas wish i'd like to ask that no tottenham manager ever starts with zokora again...use him from the bench...he can cover other postions, has energy...but on no occasion should start in a game when we are playing a real side....

Absolutely toothless performance from all and sundry. They wanted it more and it showed.

NEC's manager mentioned we were a long ball team during the week, although inaccurate, we sure as fuck didn't pass the ball on the ground very much. We looked bereft of ideas, and kept lumping the ball into the air, where everton dealt with every ball easily.

Anger has subsided slightly, only to be replaced with dejection and utter depression.

Please, if there are any murderers or hitmen out there, or some form of mentalist, do a number on Zokora and make sure he never pulls on a Spurs jersey again. Utter shite.

Correct result.
Spurs are hopeless. Dont think you will get relegated though.
Everton not started playing football yet, still we are in 7th place, this league is a joke.

Thought Bentley was bought for set-pieces and his 'legendary' crossing ability. 8O
